Obamacare's Website Is Crashing Because It Doesn't Want You To Know How Costly Its Plans Are
A growing consensus of IT experts, outside and inside the government, have figured out a principal reason why the website for Obamacare’s federally-sponsored insurance exchange is crashing. Healthcare.gov forces you to create an account and enter detailed personal information before you can start shopping. This, in turn, creates a massive traffic bottleneck, as the government verifies your information and decides whether or not you’re eligible for subsidies. HHS bureaucrats knew this would make the website run more slowly. But they were more afraid that letting people see the underlying cost of Obamacare’s insurance plans would scare people away.
HHS didn’t want users to see Obamacare’s true costs
“Healthcare.gov was initially going to include an option to browse before registering,†report Christopher Weaver and Louise Radnofsky in the Wall Street Journal. “But that tool was delayed, people familiar with the situation said.†Why was it delayed? “An HHS spokeswoman said the agency wanted to ensure that users were aware of their eligibility for subsidies that could help pay for coverage, before they started seeing the prices of policies.†(Emphasis added.)
As you know if you’ve been following this space, Obamacare’s bevy of mandates, regulations, taxes, and fees drives up the cost of the insurance plans that are offered under the law’s public exchanges. A Manhattan Institute analysis I helped conduct found that, on average, the cheapest plan offered in a given state, under Obamacare, will be 99 percent more expensive for men, and 62 percent more expensive for women, than the cheapest plan offered under the old system. And those disparities are even wider for healthy people.

This has been out for several weeks now and is undisputed by Dear Leader's administration, yet the primitives would rather :lalala:
BumRushDaShow
1. Shark meet Fonzie's water skis.
spanone
3. right-wing spin.
The Magistrate
4. You Are Slipping The Mask Pretty Badly Here, Ma'am
Wading through the deliberate distortion in the reporting yields the fact that the site was structured to see to it that people were fully informed regarding what they would actually pay themselves for coverage, rather than be given a 'list price' figure that, in almost all instances, would be far higher than their actual out of pocket costs would be.
Only in the world of right-wing media talking points would being sure that people knew what they would actually pay be described as hiding the cost of an item people were seeking to purchase.
This dolt just admitted what the article stated, only with his own spin of "out of pocket vs. actual cost."
Pretzel_Warrior
12. And my response is 80% of Americans don't know tire (sic) cost of their PRIVATE insurance
It seems kind of dumb to tell potential Obamacare users what they WON'T be paying. This writer for Forbes, Avik Roy, has been trashing every aspect of Obamacare they can dream up. It sounds like rather than being interested in presenting truth as you said yesterday, you are invested in providing negative spin about Obamacare.
It only seems "dumb" because it works against your desires
The 100% Dear Leader cultists are circling the wagons like the children they are. Fun to watch. Even more fun to come as things don't go as planned.

DUmmie dfk has been pounding them pretty relentlessly lately.

What is being danced around is that the subsidies are essentially welfare handouts.
-
What is being danced around is that the subsidies are essentially welfare handouts.
How do the subsidies work? Is that just a government number or do they actually represent monies that will be paid to the insurance companies with our taxes?
Do the insured pay their premiums to the insurance companies or to the government? Monthly, yearly?
-
The good news is that, in the states that set up exchanges, 70% to 80% that have signed up signed up for Medicaid. O'bungacare is a resounding success!!
-
I've said before and will say again, let the bastards have this stupid law. Help them implement it. Let them own it 100%, and when it finally comes time to PAY for the damn thing, people will FLIP and it will be repealed in a big hurry. When the enemy is making mistakes, don't interrupt. If we are going to deal with the consequences of 0dumbass printing money at a record clip, we can deal with this to in order to end it as soon as possible.

The best I can tell is you provide an income figure and they calculate what subsidy you are "entitled" to.
This then can be applied in advance per month for insurance premiums and will be paid directly by the government to the insurance provider.
If you miss low on income then you get the balance as a "refund" but if you miss high you have to pay some back.
None of it is based on income tax withholding or self employed estimated payments.
It is unearned payments from the general fund.
-
DUmmies, if it's "affordable" why do we need subsidies?
:thatsright:

What the morons are just finding out is that the subsidies won't cover their whole insurance payment. Even better, they don't cover any of their deductible.

The primitive dkf was TS'd. Must keep the cocoon intact. No truth allowed.

dkf just got banned for that. How do ya like that?
You idiots sitting around in your bubble, babbling at each other, have no idea what you're sitting on. You should get outside of DU, and have a stroll around.
The pain contained within this thing? You're not exempt from it.

I wonder when those stupid assholes will learn that controversy on DU creates posts, posts create clicks, clicks create ads, and ads line their pockets?
You DUmmies who currently finance David Allen's lifestyle could probably tithe a little less if you weren't so militant about people who disagree with you. Oh, but what the hell, right? Your cash goes to DU; you use EBT for food.

Lord Marblehead could never hope to be that bright.

I still say most DUmbasses think they are in store for free healthcare. :whatever:

And they are flinging poo at their monitors and pant-hooting over the demise of dfk.

48. Now you see the RWNJ troll, now you don't!
There's a whole lot of faceless, unknown DUmmies celebrating the demise of a 10 year DUmp veteran who dared tell them what was going on outside of the hive.

50. I know you're gone now, but $176.19/month 1800K/deductible $25 copay.
Why wouldn't they want me to see that? Have a nice life!
The dimwit MrsGrumpy keeps posting this, but she always fails to mention how much of a subsidy she's getting. Chances are her subsidies are 2 to 3 times her premium at minimum. She's a moocher, but afraid to tell everyone just how much of a moocher she is.

Wait till all those young healthy people don't sign up and those subsidies dry up like Cali's nethers.
I have NO DOUBT that moochers will flock to the exchange in droves. The denominator, however? I'm not so sure.
-
If you can't afford the premiums, copays, and deductibles in the exchange and stop paying on your new policy, do you get hit with the individual penalty when they cancel your insurance? :whistling:
-
Let's see if I get this almost right.
OK, DUmmies.
Let's say you were spending 300 a month on a medical plan (if you even had one).
Obumblecare will now subsidize it 50 bucks. You save 50, right?
Here's the kicker. The insurance company just dropped you. You must now buy Obumblecare.
What's it cost? $450. Don't worry DUmmies, you get a 50 buck subsidy so it only costs you 400.
Nice savings you got there. A whole -100.
Decide not to buy? Then Obumbles fines you for not paying for your tax Obumblecare.
-
You know this is beginning to look like the DUche Pitt's Rove indictment fable. People like OldLeftyLawyer telling the DUmbshits that DUche Pitt was completely wrong. I think she finally got TSed because of 24 business hours. The DUmbshits just had to have their make believe world and they really need to beeeeellliiiieeeeeeeve in King Barky the Incompetent's signature law. The self-delusion on the cACA Obama HellCare is going not just to 11 but to elebinty.
Let the great cACA Obama HellCare purge begin. The DUchebags don't even know how fascist they truly are.
-
What is absolutely fascinating about this is how these primitives can't even do the most simple forms of math. They are always preaching sustainable energy, sustainable fisheries, sustainable forests etc etc... Evidently however, they don't seem to comprehend sustainable economics. You can't subsidize something forever, you can't borrow for as long as you please, you can only cook the books for so long before somebody decides to take a gander at the numbers. The numbers are simply not there for Obamacare or even the holy grail of single payer. They are completely unworkable systems.
-
Looks like dfk just bought a granite pizza pie. RIP dfk :lmao: That'll teach ya to post Damnable 'pubbie talking points. :rotf:

good idea, you should never trust anyone on the internet.

The tombstoning of dkf further demonstrates how laughable it is for anyone to say they go to DU to be "informed and educated".
You don't educate by sealing off information and opinions that are contrary to a preexisting worldview and hammering away at only approved talking points. That is more correctly termed indoctrination, and like all cults, is suitable only for the weak minded.

What's fascinating is the dummies don't understand the difference in the cost of a one time event (like a war), and the continual year after year payment of putting millions of people on different types of welfare.
