San Diegans, this is the beginning of afternoon traffic
Avoid I-15 and 805 split due to police activity. It was an officer shot, and hot pursuit with foot bail.

Caltrans reports that it is closed until further notice, and over Scanner 805 is also closed now. But they are getting ready to open it.

Caltrans San Diego ‏@SDCaltrans 7m
The NB and SB SR-15 at I-805 is closed due to police activity. Freeway will be closed for a while -- avoid area if possible.

3. We heard sirens, we turned on the scanner

All I can tell, they ask us not to speak of actual activity, as in perimeters and all that, is that they are having the CHP screaming that they want their freeway back.

this is taking things to a ridiculous level, imo. What's next? Breaking news that middle school bake sale will not start at 10am as previously scheduled, but 11am due to unforeseen difficulties navigating newly installed traffic circle....

Poor nadin, she's going out of her way to perform a vital public service and this is the thanks she gets.  She probably had to get up off the couch to turn up the scanner and everything.

during rush hour on the radio. I don't think posting traffic reports in gd is going to reach anyone who needs this info. People driving on the freeway shouldn't be reading DU - I doubt any are.

30. "that is all i will say"

because that's probably all you know, just like everyone else who's listening to the scanners, or anyone else who's ever watched any TV show or movie involving crime.

what? things get back to normal when evidence is collected and the scene is cleared? Why haven't we heard about this clandestine procedure before? I thought if the road was closed because of a shooting, it was closed forever

All of the cool kids have scanners.

The cousin's the best reason civilians shouldn't be allowed to own police scanners.

It's none of her business; if she needs to know, the radio'll tell her and everybody else what's going on.

The cousin's nothing more than a yenta; a snoop, a busybody, an eavesdropper, a rumor-monger.

It gives her some sort of orgasmic relief, being "the first to know."

Such people are, obviously, mentally ill.

It is the classic definition of both cyberstalking and cyberbullying.

I know management does not care. And the best part is I have no animus for them, but I KNOW they do have animus for me. This is what bullies do. They also have zero empathy for other human beings. Again, this is what bullies do.

And I expect them to alert this... like they alert and pounce on everything I post. No matter, I have moved real analysis off site. They will have to find a new target, and like any bully, they will.

Really.  I don't get it.

I think it means the suspect has bailed from the vehicle, and is running on foot.

This is nadinese, though, so she could have meant "foot ball" instead.

Sexual frustration. Since her husband is no longer in the Navy, he doesn't spend six months at sea and would screw a snake during shore leave. gNads is ranked right below a snake in order of preference.

61. That is where the empathy comes in
We need the studies also done with adults, but from the evidence here, I think there is a lack of empathy among adult bullies as well.

They also do not realize that this behavior can lead to some serious issues.

But here is what Bully situations lead to, from research I am doing onto the subject. (Yes copy and pasting from my notes on this)

What bullies do.

Deny the humanity of their victims

Blame the Victim

Isolate the victim.

Harass the victim

**Possible Effects on Bystanders*

Feel angry, helpless, and guilty.

Don’t feel safe where bullying takes place, like in certain hallways in school, on the bus, in the park, or online.

Fear of becoming the next victim

Everyone who feels angry, helpless, and guilty while the DUmmies snap and slash at nutcase nadin's heels, raise your hand.

You welcome.

Exactly.  People/kids are victims of bullying if they are just because of the way they look and act. You purposely go out of your way to make yourself feel important.   You ask for everything that is given to you.  It's a shame that you do not learn from the exact same thing every time.

I hear it quite a bit here when it's referred to as "The I-93 or I-95 corridors" but not so much as a destination like one expects in LA, like the San Diego Freeway versus I-405 South, or the Riverside Freeway versus Hwy 91 East, etc.

HOWEVER, roads around here will have the name of the adjoining town for the same piece of highway, depending on which town you're in; e.g., a road can be both Epping Road AND Exeter Road, depending on which town you're in.

It's normal use in England, one would refer to the M1 or the A20 or whatever...knowing the DUmmies probably heard it from an Englishman and decided to adopt the affectation. I don't know which I dislike more, Englishmen affecting American terms or American affecting English ones.

I didn't realize that it was a regional saying until my last job. Most of my co-workers transferred from other areas of the country (even some from England). They found "fixin' to" hilarious.
