Dick Durbin: GOP leader told Obama ‘I cannot even stand to look at you’ [View all]
The No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, Sen. Dick Durbin, says that a House Republican leader told off President Barack Obama during a negotiation meeting, and that they are so disrespectful it’s practically impossible to have a conversation with them.
“In a ‘negotiation’ meeting with the president, one GOP House Leader told the president: ‘I cannot even stand to look at you,’†Durbin wrote in a post on his Facebook page over the weekend.
Calling a government shutdown strategy from Republicans “disastrous,†Durbin did not specify which leader made the comment, what the context was or how the president responded.
The Senate majority whip offered the comment as rebuttal to the Republican argument that Obama does not do enough to communicate with Republicans, essentially saying to do so is impossible.
“What are the chances of an honest conversation with someone who has just said something so disrespectful?†Durbin wrote.

1. Even though Obama wouldn't say so I'd bet the feeling was mutual.
Right, because the chosen one is so respectful to his political opponents... :bs:

belong in a democracy. They are dangerous thugs. More and more Americans, and the world, are recognizing this, finally.
1. Never once have I ever called a primitive a terrorist. You sir or madam, are low.
2. You blindly follow the dangerous thugs. They laugh at you because you willingly gulp the putrid kool-aid they throw up.
3. What we are doing with the tea-party must be working. The crying and the knashing of teeth from your side is getting shrill. We are growing, and taking back our party.
4. You are amusing with how you must be proud of your display of pure ignorance. No, I don't belong in a democracy....because we are a REPUBLIC.

I very rarely get upset. It is one thing for a computer tough guy on the Internet to say it, but to directly slap President Obama in the face with hate like that is disgusting. Without any context it makes it worse. I can envision the attacker could be a number of leaders and therefore I paint them all with the same brush except for Boehner.
What a thing to wake up to read in the morning. I pray for the President's safety. I pray to never learn who verbally assaulted him, I wish to avoid despising that person. President Obama is a symbol of so much good in our country. He represents a dream fulfilled for so many people. I take this personally.
Politics aside, in some ways Obama is like the Tiawanese basketball player Jeremy Lin, but on a grander scale. When they "can't stand to see his face" I take it personally.
Thank you for the post.
He is not a king. ALL PRESIDENTS are humbled with criticism! Every single one that has ever existed has had this or something worse said to them! Let us not forget
how you people hoped for the worst to befall Obama's predecessor.

Durbin's not naming names. Wonder why? Sounds like a bouncy to me. Who says something like that? It sounds like it came out of one of those bodice-ripper romance novels.
Myself, I can't stand to listen to him. I cannot stand to be lied to, and that's what he does whenever he opens his mouth. Same for Carney.

Yup. Tis why I said "if" this happened.
Even if it didn't, I'm sure there are many on the right, and maybe even a few on the left in Washington who feel the same way. It doesn't need to be said.
After all, for the dems in Congress, its King Hussein that orders them to put their necks out for him every midterm election season.
How funny will it be to watch the dems balance their loyalty to the supreme one, and their fear of Obamacare this year?
Funnier than watching a feline in a tub.

‘IT DID NOT HAPPEN’ WhiteHouse DEBUNKS Durbin Quote
The White House said Wednesday that an alleged exchange between President Barack Obama and a House Republican — relayed to the public by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) — "did not happen."
Durbin recounted over the weekend that a House Republican told Obama at a recent closed-door meeting that he "cannot even stand to look at" him. But White House spokesman Jay Carney said during his daily press briefing that, after touching base with a participant in the meeting, Durbin's account is not right.
"It did not happen," Carney said.

Thank you for the post.
When he starts acting like a president, he'll be treated like one. He acts like a spoiled brat who throws a tantrum when he doesn't get his way. He doesn't have the maturity or dignity to talk to the American people without calling people who disagree with him (the majority of the country at this point) vile names. Never in my life have I heard a president act or talk like this. He's never once led, all he does is agitate.
We know he lies and you know it too, whether you're willing to admit it or not. The biggest ones, and the ones most resent:
1. If you like your insurance you can keep it.
2. If you like your doctor you can keep him.
3. Premiums will go down.
Those are huge and hit the American people in the pocketbook. At a time when the majority are struggling to stay afloat is one of the most egregious hoaxes ever perpetrated on this country. The fact that the leaders in your party are trying to defend him and this disaster does not bode well for you. Even the MSM can't hide from this, as much as they'd like to.
And then there's
1. Fast & Furious
2. Benghazi
3. NAS & spying on the press
4. IRS
All of which he says he didn't know about. That either makes him a liar or incompetent or both. The president is the CEO of the United States. A CEO's job is to know what's going on in his company. Or, in 0bama's case, the country. Apparently golf & and hanging with Jay Z is more important than doing his job. At this point there aren't very many people who don't see than.
0bamacare is his signature legislation. He wants it to be his legacy. He shoud have enough intelligence and concern to meet with the people rsponsible for making sure it gets implemented, the website works and the proper government agencies are ready for such a huge program. AS chief executive there are many things he could've done, including postponing it until it was ready. History will not remember this well.

I can't tell what's more pathetic: that Dicky felt the need to tell this bullshit story to score some national press time or that the leader of his party couldn't even be bothered to give even the slightest bit of cover.
Ridiculousness to the fifth level.

Durbin's I can't stand looking at you lie is as stupid as his buddy Dingy Harry's lie about Mitt Romney not paying taxes for ten years. They tell these childish, easily debunked lies and the DUmmies just eat them up. Lurking DUmmies should ponder how the democrat party leaders just lie to them to elicit an outraged response, leading their mindless followers around by their noses. It shows the profound contempt that Durbin and Dingy Harry and Obama and Stretch Pelosi and others feel for their base. How does it feel DUmmies, to be held in such contempt by the leaders that you worship?

White House Deputy Chief of Staff told Durbin, Others About Erroneous Rude GOP Comment
(http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/dam/assets/131024131755-white-house-deputy-chief-of-staff-rob-nabors-story-top.jpg)
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Nabors looks at his Blackberry.
The disputed story - first shared publicly on his campaign Facebook page by the Senate’s number two Democrat, Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois - that an unidentified senior House Republican Leader during negotiations over the debt ceiling and partial government shutdown told President Obama “I cannot even stand to look at you†made its way from the White House to the Senate via White House deputy chief of staff Rob Nabors, sources tell CNN. Nabors told the story to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Durbin, and the two other Senate Democratic leaders, Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York and Patty Murray of Washington, on Tuesday October 15, sources tell CNN. Reid then told the story to the entire Senate Democratic caucus, sources in the room at the time tell CNN, identifying the House Republican leader as Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Texas., who denies the story. Durbin posted it on his campaign Facebook page without mentioning Sessions' name.
Sessions isn’t the only one who denies it; on Wednesday when White House press secretary Jay Carney was asked about it at his daily briefing and said “I looked into it and spoke with somebody who was in the meeting and it did not happen.†The statement upset Senate Democrats, since they had heard the story from the White House’s Nabors and the White House was now accusing Durbin of sharing an untruthful story. Durbin did not back down. “Senator Durbin stands by his comments,†said Max Gleischman, a spokesman for Durbin, on Wednesday. On Thursday a White House official accepted some blame for the story, saying, “While the quote attributed to a Republican lawmaker in the House GOP meeting with the President is not accurate, there was a miscommunication when the White House read out that meeting to Senate Democrats, and we regret the misunderstanding.â€
Senior administration officials tell CNN that according to senior White House officials in the room, Sessions in the meeting was expressing frustration with the situation, not with President Obama. White House officials would not comment on whether Rob Nabors misunderstood what Sessions said or whether he just communicated the story to Senate Democrats in a less than optimal way. Nabors could not be reached for comment.

I guess perpetrating a lie is more important than when the liar actually admits it was a lie... :whatever: :whatever: :whatever:
U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin on Monday removed a Facebook post that erroneously claimed a GOP leader had told the president, "I can't even stand to look at you," saying he's satisfied that people now know he's not to blame for the mistake.
The decision resolves a point of tension between the White House and one of President Barack Obama's most loyal defenders. The White House says the error stemmed from a "miscommunication."
Durbin, an Illinois Democrat, posted on his Facebook page on Oct. 20 that at a meeting with Obama during the government shutdown, a "GOP House Leader told the president: I can't even stand to look at you."
Durbin was not at the meeting, but he says his source was a White House staffer who briefed him.
The post drew rebukes from Republicans, including House Speaker John Boehner, who said no such statement was made. Though the White House quickly said the information was wrong, Durbin had declined to remove the post until Monday.
"They gave me a bad quote and then they said it didn't occur," Durbin said Monday, speaking to reporters after he and U.S. Sen. John McCain spoke to a civic group about immigration reform in Chicago. "Now it's history, it's behind us."
The White House says the misunderstanding originated when White House officials gave Senate Democrats a summary of a meeting Obama had held with House Republicans.
