I'm hoping to start back up at school this fall. I just submitted my application online to the university.
So, if everyone can think good thoughts on this and keep their fingers crossed that they actually let me in. :)
This isn't a request for prayers, because this doesn't rise to that occasion. God has more important things than my hope that I get into this university.

That's just wrong. Our Lord cares about every aspect of your life. You exclude Him at your peril. :innocent:
-
Nonsense, God loves it when we talk to Him. Prayers and good thoughts for you.
-
Good luck, Mia. :) Going back to college may get you teased by some (I know I've been, having taken a break and changed majors), but it will all be worth it, IMO.
-
I will send you lounge light.
Right after I finish praying for you!

Oh, I prayed for it, but I don't feel it's important enough to ask others to pray for it.

I don't care about teasing. I'm finally ready to finish and actually do all the work this time around. I'm really excited about it. I already talked to an admissions guy last Friday about the fact that my grades at UNT were frankly poor. He said they take all kinds of things into account for transfer students, and most especially older students. I'm already working in the field that I'd be getting the degree in, so that's a bonus for me.
-
Too late, I already sent up a prayer for you!

A tip... if you can challenge a class and get out of taking it (and paying for it), do it. I wasted the first year of school taking IT classes that were redundant and an enormous waste of my time and money. I hadn't been in school in ten years and thought it was a good idea to take ALL the classes. Nuh uh. If you can get out of a class by taking the final exam, do it.

Oh they offer that, plus work experience, so hopefully I should get out of a few classes.
Thankfully my work offered to help pay for my schooling.
I'm scared b/c I'm going to have to take College Algebra. That class will be the death of me.

Nothing is too trivial for Our Lord.
I knew a lady who bought an old farm house and was in the process of remodeling and modernizing the dump. She wanted a formal entryway so the front door didn't open naked into the living room. She had no idea how to achieve this goal. She prayed about it.
That night, in her dreams, the Lord showed her how she should extend the closet in an adjoining bedroom out into living room This extention created a wall in front of the door, creating a natural entryway. It also solved the closet space problem in the bedroom.
See? Nothing is too trivial for our Lord.
(That's one of my favorite stories. You should have heard the lady tell it.)

I had the hardest time with the trig part of my College Algebra class. All that sine, cosine, and tangent shit threw me off. The algebra's not so hard. All you have to do is remember your order of operations and to isolate your variable (or set it to zero). Easy sleazy.

College Algebra? Do you know if the school offers any kind of tutoring programs? I took advantage of the one my college offered, and passed the class.
Also, I don't like to say it could be worse, but in this case, it could. Could be statistics, or even pre-calculus you're taking. :bawl: (I'm taking those in fall and spring, respectively).

Oh, I'm sure there's tutoring. I had trouble with College Algebra when I took it before, I dropped it twice. I'll have to take two statistics courses eventually too.

It took me two tries to get through Calculus. Not good at math. At all.
I actually had a really good instructor for my Algebra class. He made it easy. I can help you with your homework. It's about the only level of math that I'm any good at.

Well and this time around there will be more studying and actually doing my homework, so hopefully I should be able to pass it on the first try.
I work with numbers every day, but it's adding and subtracting and sometime a little percentages and I have a printing calculator for it. It's not math like algebra.

Mia, God hears all prayers. He'll guide you in the direction you need to go.
I am rooting for you!!!! School can be daunting. Especially if you are working too.
-
I'll send prayers, too!

The university would be crazy not accept you. But just in case, I'm sending white light in your direction.

Mia, as someone who made this same decision almost 2 years ago, I commend you. The perspective is usually very different when you do it this time around...I think you will do well. Based on what I know you do, I bet we are studying the same thing :lmao: :-*
Best of luck to you. I know you'll do well!

I'm going for a business degree in Automotive Management/Marketing. Northwood University is the only school that teaches dealership specific courses. My GM went there. I'm getting prepped to take over the Controller's position in a few years. :)
-
I am constantly hoping for the best for you, you don't have to ask. :-)

That's what I think as well. LOL
I just have to stop by the records building for the school district I went to high school in and get a copy of my high school transcript. I told my boss that one day this week I'm going to leave a little early. Well, they do open at 7:30am, but as I said to her, "we all know that me getting there at 7:30am just isn't going to happen." :)
That's the only thing left for me to mail into them. I got my UNT transcript headed that way, plus I requested my SAT scores this morning to be mailed in.
I'm ready for this and a little scared. At least I have the rest of the summer until it's all work and school. :)

WE that's cause you are the bestest.

Good luck Mia. You know, if you're in college, you have to be "easy". It's a requirement.
That's only if you join a sorority.

no, he's right. but if you join a soroity, you have to learn how to be easy while wriggling out of your clothes and protesting your chastity. it's a very difficult balance to achieve. :-)

Some girls learn this without the sorority. I'm not sure how I know this. :uhsure: :-)

cognitive dissonance : the clanging that occurs in your head when your date says, "I don't have sex on the first date. Hey, where did you throw my panties?"

You should hear me when I make my "I haven't received your payment phone calls." I'm a cold hearted bitch.
Yeah, I won't be surprised if after I've been handling the money for the dealership I'm a republican.

I just found out something interesting from my 9 year old. Did you know that boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider and girls go to college to get more knowledge? I did not know that, but I think it is timely information for you Miss Mia. :lmao:
