Walmart shelves in Springhill, Mansfield, cleared in EBT glitch
Shelves in Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA were reportedly cleared Saturday night, when the stores allowed purchases on EBT cards even though they were not showing limits.
The chaos that followed ultimately required intervention from local police, and left behind numerous carts filled to overflowing, apparently abandoned when the glitch-spurred shopping frenzy ended.

No wonder the country is in such bad shape. Too many people here have turned into immoral crooks.
-
I bet that woman in line that had $700 worth of food and only 49 cent left on her card when the system came back on is mad about not getting her free stuff..... :lmao:
I wonder if they will deduct what was spent from next months allotment?....nah, what Obama giveth he doesn't taketh away.

I think it would qualify as a type of income and if the EBT allotment is not adjusted down then some of the other benefits they get should be adjusted to compensate for the increase in income for this month.

The way those benefits are set up is so decentralized that it'd never happen. HUD take supplemental rent money that was put on the card by USDA or Dept of Education food programs? No way. EBT cards are a money laundromat.
-
The question I have is, how did the customers know, that the EBT cards weren't showing balances???
-
I can't believe these animals. They should lose their benefits card and have to pay back any money over the amount they were supposed to get.

Shelves at Walmart stores in Louisiana were cleared in a shopping frenzy over the weekend after a glitch in the Electronic Benefits Transfer system allowed government food stamp recipients to make purchases without spending limits.
For two hours Saturday night, customers rang up overflowing cartloads of food at stores in Springhill and Mansfield, La., after cashiers allowed them to use their EBT cards anyway despite not showing limits, KSLA-TV reported.
“It was worse than any Black Friday,†Springhill police Chief Will Lynd told KSLA.

I was wondering how much it cost that store in expired or damaged goods, but all the pictures I saw were boxes of pre-packaged food.
Who buys bottled water on an EBT card? What a waste of money.
-

They might not know to the exact penny, but they have an idea how much they have.
Just like you writing a check without looking at your book balance.

Uncle Suga will say that this is Walmart's problem. They made the offer, let them eat it.
It's very telling that people abandoned full shopping carts when the system came back on line. They new they didn't have funds in their account, but were out for more freebies.

It's disgusting. They're a buch of greedy thieves.

These are the type of people that ruin the good intentions of gov't help.

Thieves have a way of putting the word out to other thieves...that's how they knew imo.
If they put as much effort into being present for job opportunities as they do notices of how they can get something for nothing, they'd be millionaires. This behavior is what liberalism has enabled and coddled.
And for the lurking DUmmies, I'm well aware this is not everyone. The above though is what you are enabling to the disadvantage of the other type that really need and are good stewards of the help. That thieving behavior should be distasteful to you too.

What's an Obama phone for anyway if you can't use it to make money/steal or get a little sex.

When their next welfare money comes in, is it going to be negative since they used it all up during the glitch? Anyways, take their welfare away.
-

My guess is one person didn't get cut off, they tried with some more, and then they spread the news to everybody they knew.

All the people who took advantage of the glitch? They may lose their EBT cards for year. :lmao:

The Louisiana governor’s office said Wednesday night that it would strip food stamp benefits from anyone who took advantage of an EBT card malfunction that in some cases caused an all-out shopping frenzy in some stores across the state, The Advocate reported.
It is unclear how many recipients stand in line to lose benefits for a year, but more than 12,000 received an insufficient funds notice when the EBT card system was corrected on Oct.12, the report said.
“We must protect the program for those who receive and use their benefits appropriately according to the law. We are looking at each case individually, addressing those recipients who are suspected of misrepresenting their eligibility for benefits or defrauding the system,†Suzy Sonnier, the secretary of state at the Department of Children and Family Services, said in a statement.

Sea, we live up here where we could never think our neighbors would do the same. But we here are no different from others in the big cities, human nature kicks in when an opportunity comes about.
When the trucks came in to pick up our product at times there was left over produce from their last stop. These had to be unloaded to make room for our product and was brought out on the floor for us workers to bring home. Sometimes potato's or greens, big bags of turnips, and workers were leaving the lines to grab what they could.
Anything especially food for free was a get it now. I can understand the actions of the people that found they could get stuff for free, I do not approve but I can afford to buy what I want or need.
It is we who can afford to pay for our necessities that shake our heads in wonder at the actions of others that jump in and take advantage of free stuff.
And don't we all clip coupons, and shop the sales to save a buck or two. We who go to consignment shops, and the Goodwill ETC. are we not looking for a steel no one has noticed?
I can not blame the shoppers that found they could buy food because of a glitch in the computers, what the heck to not take advantage of a once in a life time experience would have been really stupid. No their fault the computers went down, but when an opportunity comes up, who can fault anyone for jumping in and taking advantage of it.

It's called morality. They knew what they were doing. Taking something your NOT entitled to is stealing, plain and simple. We aren't talking about a few turnips or a loaf of bread here. These people were carting off thousands in merchandise and trashing the store in the process.
Would you excuse those mobs rolling racks of clothes out of a clothing store or hauling money out of a bank because of a computer glitch? There is no difference.

They knew it for sure, because when they found out the system was back up they abandoned their carts.

Glad you got this one and did such a good job of it. Theft is theft. To compare shopping for sales to deliberately stealing is… beyond my comprehension. The store offers the items at sale price. The state did not offer to give away our money because their computer went down. FFS. :killemall:

http://www.bizpacreview.com/2013/11/07/louisiana-food-stamp-abusers-will-lose-benefits-over-wal-mart-free-for-all-86692
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and his administration took steps late Wednesday to strip food stamp benefits from those who loaded up their shopping carts knowing they had insufficient funds in their Electronic Benefits Transfer accounts during a system failure in October.
As a result of the temporary outage, over 12,000 transactions in Louisiana showed non-sufficient funds once the system got back online and retailers were able to process the purchases, according to The Advocate.

So stealing is nothing more than "mother nature?" Bitchslapped for your idiocy.

If you're trying to paint some sort of comparison between this anecdote and stealing, you've failed. Bitchslapped for your idiocy.

So which is it, vesta? Do you advocate theft, or not?

Looks to me like you advocate theft and thievery.
**** you, vesta. With one of these - :pineapple: - without KY. And I hope it hurts.
Oh, and bitchslapped for your idiocy.
