Title: Computer Upgrade Blamed For Nationwide EBT System Shutdown On Saturday
Post by: DLR Pyro on October 12, 2013, 04:13:44 PM
BOSTON (CBS) – A possible glitch in a computer system upgrade was causing major problems nationwide with the Electronic Benefits Transfer System on Saturday, as a countless number of shoppers found themselves stranded at the register.

Reports from around the country began pouring in around 9 a.m. on Saturday that customers’ EBT cards were not working in stores.

The glitch, however, did not appear to be part of the government shutdown. At 2 p.m., an EBT customer service representative told CBS Boston that the system was currently down for a computer system upgrade.

The representative said the glitch is affecting people nationwide. She could not say when officials expected the system to be restored

let's see how long it takes for the left to latch onto this and blame the GOP and the government shutdown despite the fact that this had nothing to do with the shutdown.

And then, if only however briefly, the American public realized just how many moochers were out there, not just the truly needy.

And now these same people are in control of health care.

A few thoughts on this one.

As Freeper said, these people are now in charge of our healthcare.  How wonderful.  /sarcasm

Anyone else not really that heartbroken over this?  I mean, if these people didn't rely on someone else to feed them this wouldn't be an issue.

This should be a very clear warning to America.  What the government gives, it can easily take away if it wants.  Better to never let them get to that point than to willfully march ourselves off of that cliff.

Three days. Three days and the food runs out. Monday or Tuesday the food riots start, and Marshal law is declared.

Let the fun begin.  Might as well get it over with right?

In a letter to the editor of our small town tri-weekly (or try weakly) newspaper a woman wrote a thank you to a stranger for paying for her groceries early this week. Seems that her EBT card didn't work and when she offered to write a check for the groceries they wouldn't take her check. She was going to return everything to the shelves but the cashier stopped her and said someone behind her in line had paid her bill ($59.00).

No comment from me.

sounds like it has all the major elements of a bouncy.  The only thing missing was a hate filled middle aged white tea-bagger, but I'm sure a Dummy could make the store owner into the villain for not taking the poor woman's check....
