Obama Rejects Latest House GOP Offer
President Obama used his weekly radio address to reject the latest offer from House Republicans to end the fiscal stalemate. The outline of their proposal was released Friday and would have reopened government through December and lifted the debt ceiling for six weeks.
"It wouldn’t be wise, as some suggest, to just kick the debt ceiling can down the road for a couple months, and flirt with a first-ever intentional default right in the middle of the holiday shopping season," Obama said in his address.
"Because damage to America’s sterling credit rating wouldn’t just cause global markets to go haywire; it would become more expensive for everyone in America to borrow money," Obama continued. "Students paying for college. Newlyweds buying a home,"
On Friday, Senate Republicans floated the outlines of their own plan to end the standoff. Their proposal would lift the debt ceiling through the end of January and reopen the government for six months. The dueling proposals put Obama in the enviable position of choosing between his opponents. He can reject one proposal and still look Presidential by negotiating on a competing offer. Obama said Friday he would look for the "best deal."
On Saturday, the House Republicans are meeting to finalize the details of the plan they released Friday. Obama's rejection of even the outlines of that plan makes the next moves by the House uncertain. The Senate, meanwhile, moves back to center-stage of the debate with a vote Saturday afternoon on a one-year increase in the debt ceiling.

We gave him everything he wanted, and asked for budget cuts...Little Lord Bama said no.
It was a total cave. I was down in the dumps...and the big baby says no.
I think O wants a default so he can declare a state of emergency and rule by decree.

I don't want to hear anymore bellyaching from the left or see any more polls about how conservatives are responsible for the government being shutdown. Everything from this point on is all on qbama.
:ownit:

Its painfully obvious that Obama just wants to punish as many Americans as he can. This entire "shutdown" has been nothing but a display of the Temper Tantrum Tyrant throwing a hissy-fit of epic proportions.
The GOP have made every move to get the government open again only to have Obama turn around and say "no!" even when he would get everything he wanted.
He wants us to suffer because he isnt getting his way.

Tell Reggie to break down and give Obama a BJ so we can move on.

If Boehner doesn't find a microphone and say "We gave the President a deal that would reopen the government AND raise the debt ceiling. He rejected it because it also included reducing spending as a means of getting the country's finances back under control. The President has unilaterally decided that he wants the shutdown to continue" then he needs to lose every dollar of funding for his reelection. The people of Ohio can find a pillow with more conservative principles and brains (and that won't cry as often).

So....we could say....tentatively that is...that the republican "cave" worked in our favor.
He looks like a petulant child. His approval rating continues to plummet.
I hope the GOP had this in mind, and that it wasn't a happy accident....but then again it could be them throwing everything at Obama that he said he wanted, and knowing he won't take it because it's really him who wants the shutdown. He wants to blame the GOP when the "apocalypse" occurs. It's backfiring. He has now made it to where the GOP can say "See?! We gave him what he has asked but he won't take it! He is the one who wants the shutdown! This is his fault!" Hmmmm. Or it very well could be just a happy accident...

He'd need three things for that to happen--a willing media, a microphone, and a pair of balls. He's 0-3 in that department.

Frankly, I never saw any deal coming.

Not with Harry Reid running the Senate. No chance.

I think it was a happy accident. Now here's hoping SOMEONE in the GOP gets smart enough to make it painfully clear that it's O who is the petulant child who must have it his way or the highway.
Hopefully the GOP won't totally cave. I can just see Putin laughing over there in Russia.

I'm not sure that there's anyhting "happy" about it. Here, Barry was offered the humiliating concession of the House republican leadership in just about everything he wanted, and instead of doing what he does best, and shamelessly gloating over his victory, he rejects it.
Why? What is it that he wants MORE than beating Boner like a rented mule?
I've got a sick feeling that maybe all the protests this weekend showed him he has a bigger enemy than the cowards and limp dicks in Congress.Somehow I don't think that Barry's going to be satisfied with the "gub'mint shutdown" until it brings all us unruly proles to our knees, and these are the stakes that the Malignant narcissistic Ego in Chief are playing for now, and may be what he's been playing for all along.

White House meeting with congressional leaders postponed
http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/14/politics/shutdown-showdown/index.html
Washington (CNN) -- Two steps forward, one step back.
A surge of optimism for a possible compromise to end the partial government shutdown and avoid a U.S. default as soon as this week got jolted with the sudden announcement on Monday that a White House meeting between President Barack Obama and congressional leaders had been postponed.
In a brief statement, the White House said the meeting announced earlier in the day was postponed "to allow leaders in the Senate time to continue making important progress" toward a solution.
Is a deal close or not?

SOB! How much does the Right have to bend over and take it in the shorts to make America look like the weakest country in the world?
THIS is what O'Bummer wants! He wants us to become a third world country!
Ya wanna know what's gonna happen when other governments refuse to recognize the "dollar" as world currency? They have already put it in motion. Just ask George Soros, the man who destroys currency and O'Bummer's puppeteer.
Buy guns, my fellow patriots, buy guns, before they take that right away, too!
The EBT fiasco is but a feather in the storm!
I think I can now reload everything I need!
I only have 2 acres now, but I'm backed up by at least a section of publicly owned land! Y'all are welcome to come here and make a stand. I fear we may need it! I am surrounded by like minded individuals. We don't live in a city. We take care of our own.
The vids of those who thought their EBT was goin' kaput, scared the ****in' hell outa me!
We are goin' to have to unite!
I've never been afraid of my country before. I have to admit, I am now!

The Republicans are in a no win situation. I've wondered for a long time how they ever win anything with the age of freeloading and free stuff.
I love St Louis, but almost glad that I got out of there. It was truly scary in the city itself. Some of the folks there are like those in the Wal mart store. I used to be afraid going on sales calls. It's much slower in sleepy Sarasota, but the number of Yankee libtards moving here from NY and NJ is infuriating. They're ruining this city, just like Obama is ruining the country on a larger scale.
-
It's only a matter of time before the GOP caves. It seems like they always do.
-
Obama was flown to Camp David so the rest of the world wouldn't see him down in the floor pitching his temper tantrum like a three year old denied candy.
-
Obama and Reid are rejecting the almost complete surrender by Boehner. If there were any balls at all among the GOP elite, they would say screw it and go back to the original demand to repeal ObamaCare .

obama's and the media's message will be "GOP fails to compromise, extending the government shutdown and risking the US defaulting on paying it's bills" and the low/no information voters will swallow it hook, line, and sinker....

LottaTwat just wants to be able to blame the Tea Party as often as he can! The whole idea focuses on the 2014 elections in order to be able to govern by presidential decree. He's a ****in' dictator, and the only people who can't see it reside in DC or are totally racist, socialist, sheeple!!!!!
This is their Utopia! How's that hope and change workin' out? The man thinks he's the antichrist! He might be. If the worlds currency stops using the dollar, we're ****ed!!! He would like nothing better!

The US didn't even demand that Nazi Germany surrender unconditionally. Tells you how O feels about us, doesn't it?
-
From what I'm seeing , Obama is getting the RINOs to not only bend over but also bend over and grab their ankles.
It seems like they are almost ready to let Harry Reid write the bill for the House to vote on.
-
Even with the GOP compromising, the Dems refuse to compromise on their part.
That's because they want complete and utter surrender by the House.
44 wants to break them and esseitially seize the power they have under the Constitution for his own.

More caving by Boner:
The endgame will arrive a little sooner than expected, thanks to a deal cut with John Boehner to take the first plunge on a bipartisan plan to end the budget standoff before the theoretical debt-ceiling limit gets breached. Instead of the Senate taking up the proposal from Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell first, Boehner will allow a vote — without amendments — and have it pass with Democrats making up the difference from expected opposition from conservatives:
http://hotair.com/archives/2013/10/16/breaking-boehner-to-take-vote-on-senate-compromise-1st-pass-it-with-dem-votes/
More capitulation at the link. :whatever:

So they sell out, get nothing and we get to go through this all over in a few months.
What was the point again? :bs:
Radical thought: Get rid of Congress and the debt limit. Neither are doing their job, so why bother with them any more? :censored:

It looks like McConnell got a $2 billion earmark added to the bill.
The McConnell-Reid bill not only funds Obamacare and suspends the debt limit, it ALSO includes a provision in Section 123 that increases the authorization for the Olmsted Lock in Kentucky from $775 million to nearly $3 billion.
It’s the Kentucky Kickback.
In exchange for funding Obamacare and raising the debt limit, Mitch McConnell has secured a $2 billion earmark.

Reminds me of a story about Winston Churchill:
WC: "Madam, would you have sex with me for 10,000 pounds?"
Lady: "Why, yes, I do believe I would, Sir Winston."
WC: "Would you have sex with me for 10 pounds?"
Lady: "Why I never! What kind of woman do you think I am?"
WC: "We've already established that, I'm negotiating the price."
