6 Absurd Right-Wing Lies About Food Stamps

The right-wing echo chamber has vilified food stamp users with a variety of absurd lies and myths. As a result, people will go hungry.

In the middle of the worst economy and job situation in decades Republicans in the House voted to cut $40 billion from food stamps. This will kick 3.8 million people out of the program by 2014, 3 million more each year after.

Republicans in Congress have blocked every effort to help the economy. They block bills to create jobs by fixing our crumbling infrastructure because it’s “government spending.” At the same time, right-wing outlets (accurately) complain that the economy is so weak that millions are hurting. And then the same Republicans who blocked efforts to help the economy cut assistance to the people who are hurting, claiming they don’t really need the help. No shame.

In the months leading up to this vote , right-wing outlets such as Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, RedState and the rest of the far-right propaganda machine invented a number of justifications for cutting the program. Here is a takedown of some of those myths and lies.

The 6 truths:

Myth #1: Food stamps are “growing exponentially” because of waste and fraud. True- It's a Government program.

Myth #2: Cutting food stamps will make people get jobs because able-bodied people are getting food stamps instead of working.- See #1 above. The gimme class is collecting food stamps and working. obama has made it easy to do both.

Myth #3: Food stamps make people "dependent."- So very true. Generation after generation of parasites in the same family sponge off of the Government for their very existence.

Myth #4: Food stamps are about politicians “buying votes” with other people’s money.- Anyone that disagrees with this is a DUmmie's DUmmy.

Myth #5: Food stamp recipients take drugs.- I've never heard this. I've heard that some welfare rats that also collect food stamps do drugs. That's why moonbats are against drug testing. I had to take a piss test to get a job to support those lazy asses that don't want to take a piss test in order to take my money.

Myth #6: People use food stamps to buy cigarettes and alcohol.- True. Go to any ghetto (Big city under democrat party control) and you will know that this is true. 50 cents on the dollar is the norm.

5. Food stamps as economic stimulus is a good point.

Probably the only better stimulus would be an increase in the minimum wage.

How do these things get so stupid?

I've seen the abuses, too.  And now with EBT cards, it's still a simple matter for recipients to take orders, purchase the product, deliver it, and receive cash.

Interestingly, even British have had enough with the abuse of their generous dole programs.  The link, at which there is a story about England's upcoming reform, is from NPR.

Food stamps make food more expensive for the people paying for food stamps. Supply and demand bitchez.

Parasites can get cash back from food stamps. I once saw a Mexican woman yelling at the clerk because she could only get $50 back.

If I was in charge the food stampers could come and get their 5# block of cheese, 20# bag of rice and beans, and of course some milk. Want what working people eat, work.

My neighbor with three kids found herself having to apply for food stamps until she could find work.

She was so embarrassed and almost hysterical over having to do it. In fact, she was so embarrassed, she wouldn't shop at stores in our area, incase anyone she knew would see her using them.

I felt so bad for her, I tried to help her out when I could, but I was on a very tight budget myself, trying to feed my own family.

Food stamps before EBT cards were like coupons, which made them less prone to abuse, but nonetheless can be abused. People were more shameful to use them. With EBT cards, it makes it easier to abuse and with no shame.

That is the stupidest statement I have heard. Not everyone is on food stamps. How about lessening regulation, so companies are willing to hire and pay more.
