House GOP Blinks: Will Lift Debt and Reopen Government

House Republicans have sent the White House a revised proposal to lift the debt ceiling for six weeks, as well as reopen government through December 15th, which was their original spending proposal before the partial shutdown. The revised GOP plan reflects the demands Obama made in a meeting with House GOP Leaders on Thursday. It also reflects the unwillingness of the DC GOP to face a fiscal showdown with Democrats.
The GOP caved.

I figure now the senate will create a bill opening it all up for the next four years, the two bills will go to conference, and they will compromise down to the remainder of Obama's term.

Pfffft. Of course they did.
Ya know... I find myself voting for Republicans because at least the words that come out of their faces align more closely with my views on policy, etc. But, they are a pretty lousy bunch. The whole lot of our representatives, Democrat or Republican. And the whole lot of them are passing laws and regulations at such a rate, I certainly can't keep up with it all. I'm just one of the average dopes out here working a couple jobs, who gets surprised when I hear of the nuttiness coming out of Washington.
It is disheartening, and sitting here I can understand why some people stop bothering to vote at all. (But then, my innate nature kicks in and I know I won't quit at least trying to vote for good candidates, and trying to influence for sustainable, prudent and just policies :-) )

They disgust me. We need someone a whole lot smarter who can't be outmaneuvered by a bunch of low counts like the Dems. Boehner definitely needs to go.

Have to wait and see. A lot going on all at once. When they start throwing their swords on the floor in a pile, stating that they're going to move on, then I'll say they don't deserve to even stay in office. I just hope they're smarter then me, because I don't understand the strategy.

If you look at it from Boner's perspective though, The RINOs weren't winning the argument.
The conservatives were.
And from his perspective, he can tolerate that within the ranks of his party even less than il Douche can tolerate it within the ranks of his Federal Government.

Have not been here for awhile. What is going on is just disgusting. Saw the Rasmussen poll today and 68% wants the entire bunch thrown out.
Won't happen, they have gerrymandered the money and voting distiricts so that is impossible.
Honestly, I see the only way our country can recover is when the currency collapses and the government goes along with it. Just hope the general in charge believes in the Constitution.

I'll giver Boehner this much, he held out a lot longer than I thought he would.

You know that has me thinking. I was a low information voter too. It's taken me a long time to understand how this government works and how politics operate and who all the players are.
I had all the civics and government courses in school, I knew how government was supposed to operate. I'm talking about a "real" understanding of the complexity of politics.
I occasionally try to discuss issues with some family members and their eyes just gloss over like I'm talking in a foreign language.

That should be your first indication that government has become too big and too cumbersome, when people simply give up trying to comprehend it or its mechinizations.
