Hey, thanks GOP! My retirement plan FINALLY was doing well after the 2008 debacle...
I'm locked in for another month or so. By the I'm able to move money around, it looks as if half of it will be gone again thanks to Boehners games. You mother ****ing asshole rich douche bags don't give a shit about real people. **** you, Boehner, and anyone in DC with an (R) after their name.

Hey, Texas Tits, I usually don't revel in the bad fortune of others, but in your case I'll make an exception.  (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023810307)

The Dow dropped 159 today....about 1%.  Quit your bitching.

I don't understand the DUmmies -- my 401(k) took a hit for a short while and has been roaring ever since.

Had obozo not been in power it would have done much better but Wall Street adjusted to the thief-in-chief and has managed to eke out some positive returns.

If the DUmmies lost value then they are investing in "green" technology which has proven to be incapable of generating any green.

You locked yourself into something during a volatile economy? A volatile economy we've been in since at least 2008-2009?

I would comment about just how stupid you are, but you already announced it to the world.

Poor Pedro.

Well, well.

I hope the twin takes an even bigger hit, so that sooner or later, he knows what "poor" or even "middle class" is.

Some people need this sort of thing to happen to them, so as to realize what a rarified, stratospheric dream world they've been living in; remember, Atman's by no stretch of the imagination unaffluent.

Pedro is just making up nonsense again, the doofus has no retirement plan.

He's not really worried about any drop in his lush retirement funds--they probably fill the entire vault of a good-sized big-city bank--but more so that he just wants to show off to his fellow primitives, that he has a retirement fund, and they don't.

What we're seeing here is the recrudescence of the old Atman, Atman as he was when we first met him at our old home lo, these many years ago now.

He'd slowly changed over time, but now he's regressed.

Please notice he's again--after a very long hiatus--advertising his fetish for used women's sanitary products.

What a dick!

In so many ways. If one of you is toast, my hat is off to you for your eleven dimensional moling.

Oh, I'm sure he's been having the funds invested in corporations that slave-drive sick women and young children and poison the air and extract valuable natural resources in third-world countries.

Remember his insatiable greed; he makes Ebenezer Scrooge look like Santa Claus.

At least, though, one can give him credit for his honesty; he's not one of these primitives who advertises himself as a caring, giving person.  He's always made it plain the only person he cares about, gives to, is.....Atman.

I imagine McGrath has a decent retirement fund, but he himself earned pretty much none of it.

His wife has a good income, supports the family, and is the source of "his" retirement fund.

Rob has no marketable skill, and no work ethic.

That is not the description of a man who has accumulated wealth.

You forget his ancient mother who, during the late 1940s or early 1950s, was on the ground floor during a certain stock-offering that shortly thereafter skyrocketed, and stayed way up there for circa 30 years.

She was probably either a relative or an employee of the guy who started it.

His mother, bless her soul, is loaded, and of course part of it's to go to Atman when she springs loose of this mortal coil.

<<<wishes Atman's mother a very very very long life, so she can spend as much of it as possible.

Hey Atman, blame Obama for threatening Wall Street for the drop.  The #HarryReidShutdown had little effect on the market until Obama open his trashtalking mouth.

Told by a CNBC interview that Wall Street is "pretty calm" about the government shutdown and political infighting, Obama said: "I think this time is different — I think they should be concerned."

3. Unless you've been panic selling you've lost nothing at this point

And now is what would be called a buying opportunity.

The Oracle of Omaha always recomends buying while others are panicking.

4. I don't have that opportunity.

I started a private pension plan almost a year ago. It's very diversified and has performed very well...so far. Supposedly it is set up in such a way as to not be so negatively affected by market hiccups. That's proved to be true. But there hasn't been a government shutdown before.

After 2008, I lost nearly half my old 401k, as most did. It made some gains so I took the money and rolled it into a private pension. It's been doing great...now I'm just afraid the millionaire ****s in Congress are going to sabotage the whole thing AGAIN, and I'll be back to square -3.

Dumbass--even if you lost half in 2008, the DJIA/S&P/NASDAQ are all well above 2008 levels--meaning if you had done NOTHING, you'd be just fine.

The fact that you're shifting money around more often than you change your underwear is why you're shifting all your money to the brokers.

Remember Atman, bears make money, bulls make money, pigs get slaughtered.

There's been 17 of them.  And it's not really "shut down."  It's just a bunch of barrycades and traffic cones scattered about public land.  Pissing people off.

Hey Texas Toast!  The Dow just jumped 300 points.  Are you still going to bitch about your retirement funds?

Boehner announced that they'd raise the debt limit for a bit, and there's something about a CR for the next six weeks.

Very true. This was followed by Jack Lew making the same types of comments. It started a sell off frenzy.
