Obama: GOP Doesn't "Get To Demand Ransom In Exchange For Doing Their Jobs"

PRESIDENT OBAMA: I also told [Speaker Boehner] that having such a conversation, talks, negotiations, shouldn't require hanging on the threats of a government shutdown for economic chaos over the heads of the American people. Think about it this way, the American people do not get to demand a ransom for doing their jobs. You don't get a chance to call your bank and say I'm not going to pay my mortgage this month unless you throw in a new car or an Xbox. If you're in negotiations around buying somebody's house, you don't get to say well let's talk about the fact I'm not going to pay, if you don't give me the price I'm going to burn down your house. That's not how negotiations work, that's not how it happens in business, it's not how it happens in private life. In the same way, members of Congress and the House Republicans in particular don't get to demand ransom in exchange for doing their jobs.

Reid Urges Boehner to Act While Speaker Calls for Talks

Quote
In simultaneous challenges to one another, U.S. congressional leaders said the other party must move first to resolve the partial government shutdown and raise the U.S. debt ceiling.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said the Republican-controlled House should vote to end the shutdown and drop demands to change the 2010 Affordable Care Act. House Speaker John Boehner, also speaking in the Capitol this morning, said Reid and President Barack Obama should negotiate.

Obama is not open to any negotiation. Talk about petty.  :mental:

The only person I see not doing their job is Harry Reid.

Throw Obama in there.  On CNN the crawler was talking about how he was demanding "unconditional surrender" from the GOP.

Uh, yeah--not happening, Barruh.

Obama said Boehner needs to bring a clean CR to the floor for a vote. Why doesn't he tell Harry the Pederast Reid to bring any of the proposed house budgets to the senate floor for a vote.

But he gets to hold national parks and monuments hostage.

Translation: Libs can use all the dirty tactics they want, but conservatives have to play fair!

If Boehner had balls, he'd stand in front of a microphone everyday and say "Today is day (fill in the blank) of Harry Reid not allowing a vote on any of the funding measures the House has passed. We call on him to bring these measures to an up or down vote on the floor of the Senate and stop holding the government hostage."

ETA: fixed a misspelling

I agree. Every time a reporter shoves a microphone at him, he should stress that.

Boner isn't a conservative therefore, he can't articulate conservative ideas.  All he gives a crap about is his position in the animal farm.

Wonder if President McHomeboy has the same opinion of unions around contract negotiation time...

Who am I kidding?
