Yesterday, the New York Post reported that an off-duty undercover narcotics detective was among the group of motorcyclists that attacked a family as they drove their Range Rover up the West Side Highway last weekend. (He reportedly did not "[get] involved at the scene," though he also did not try to stop the assault.)
Now, ABC News and DNAinfo report that at least five other off-duty members of the NYPD participated in the ride and witnessed some part of the confrontation, which began when 33-year-old Alexian Lien bumped one of the bikers with his SUV and ended with Lien being dragged from the car, beaten, and slashed in front of his wife and 2-year-old daughter after a high-speed chase.
According to DNAinfo's sources, the cops in question include another detective, a sergeant, and three regular officers. It's not clear if any of them played an active role in the assault, but all will likely face disciplinary action because they did not tell their supervisors they were present for the incident until Wednesday.

As far as bikers, our interist/primary care doc is a biker on the weekend, along with a neighbor. I can't see them pulling someone out of a car.
What I'm wondering is the driver of the Range Rove bumping one of the bikers. Was it because he was an aggresive jerk or were they terrifying the guy and his family and he was trying to defend them? Nothing like that ambulance chaser, attention whore Gloria A getting involved. That will only make things worse.

They had surrounded the SUV. This group uses fake license plates, and many don't have driver's licenses. They go out doing this and film their stunts to upload them on the internet. The biker that was ran over braked in front of the SUV.

Shame the driver did not cripple all of the bikers including the cops.

After watching that video if that were me in that Rover it would have kept moving until it couldn't any more. Either by running out of gas or having the wheel wells clogged with the bodies of those punks! I won't call them bikers.

Yep, when trapped by the traffic in front I would have thrown that SUV into reverse and reenacted the first part of Death Race 2000 (the original good version).

An undercover New York police detective at the scene of the beating of a driver by a pack of angry motorcyclists is seen on video attacking the SUV, police sources familiar with the investigation tell NBC News.
The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the video shows the undercover officer banging on the rear window and shattering it. The victim is then seen being pulled out of the car and the undercover rides off, sources say.
The video is not the one that has been widely distributed on YouTube, but has been reviewed by investigators, the sources said. It's not clear when the video surfaced but investigators learned of it late Monday.
The undercover cops are just as bad here. :argh:

An off-duty undercover cop who had claimed he took no active role as fellow bikers pulled a Manhattan dad from his SUV and beat him to a pulp was actually pounding the vehicle with his fists at the height of the bloody road-rage attack, sources told The Post.
The cop, a seven-year veteran, had told investigators he didn’t help the injured man because he rode up to the scene as the beating was nearly over, sources said.
But video footage clearly shows otherwise, disgusted sources said Monday — and Internal Affairs Bureau higher-ups want to nail the officer.

I saw something over the weekend (maybe at the end of last week) where the Hell's Angels condemned the stunt. When you get the Hell's Angels disapproving of you, you've ****ed up.

One of the cops involved has turned himself in and will be charged.
I heard that on the radio last night.

Now an NYPD internal affairs officer named Matthew Rodriguez has come forward admitting he was among the mob, which is ironic considering internal affairs has spent nearly two weeks trying to determine which cops were involved in the attack.
