The fact that anyone blames this shutdown on Obama or Reid...

...is a testament to the awesome brainwashing power the media owners have over the public.

Hey, shedding primitive.

Who was the president who enjoyed a near veto-proof (not quite veto-proof, but close) majority in both houses of Congress his first two years in office?

Which party controls the Senate by a reasonable margin, and controlled the House by an even better margin 2007-2011?

Which side of the political spectrum does the Supreme Court generally favor?

Given our "balance of power" between the three branches of government, it looks to me as if the Democrats control 5/6ths of the government (the Senate being one-half of Congress, and Congress being one-third of government).

Put the blame where it belongs, ****head.

You would think that the federally controlled golf courses would be part of the non essential part of government.

You would also think that the Official Presidential dog walker ($105,000)
the official White Hut theater projectionist (>$100,000)
and the executive chef (>$150,000) would also be considered non-essential.  :argh:

Given the amount of time which the occupier of the office spends on the golf course, on beaches in Hawai'i, or on partisan campaign events it's getting difficult to argue that the president is an essential employee.

I had the privilege to spend the last few days with a bunch of WWII Marines here in Hampton Roads. They were having their 61st reunion and while some may have been frail in body, the spirit is still as strong as ever.

They don't call them "The Greatest Generation" for nothing.

I bet every one of them would enlist TODAY if they had 60 fewer years on the ol' odometer.

May God bless them all!   :usflag:

King Barky the Incompetent once said that he did not understand why employment was not going up as the federal government was shoveling out a trillion dollars in stimulus. A year later he joked around that and i quote "I guess those shovel ready jobs were not as shovel ready as we thought." and then his merry band of idiots all laughed with him.

I bet King Barky the Petulant is wondering why his childishness in punishing decent and civilized Americans is back firing on him. Everything he has done to lash out at America has cost the federal government. The monument Barry-Cading and guarding where none was before. Closing the privately run national park areas is costing hundreds of million in revenue to the feds. Same for closing the ocean.

Obama has kicked out senior citizens out on the streets in Lake Mead because their houses are on leased land. Again this cost money to do. Do yu think that Obama will ever kick out the Section 8ers? That would actually save the government money.

And they would be appalled at all the ROEs in the war zones now, DD. Back when they served the only real rule they had was kill the enemy as fast as you possibly could and as many as you possibly could before they did it to you.

Great bunch of guys and their wives had some wonderful stories of working in the wartime industries as well. We had a Major as a special guest and at the end of the banquet Saturday night we had them all stand up and he called them to attention and dismissed them. They all snapped to attention like it was still second nature.  :-)

We were supposed to have a color guard but they were unable to do it because of the shut down. Well the Major called in a few of his Marines and they showed up and spent the evening with them. Not sure who had the better time. :rotf:

I had the honor to meet a couple of the last remaining Bedford Boys a few years back.  Their unit(Company A, 29th  Infantry Division) spearheaded the D-Day invasion by landing on Omaha Beach, and were decimated by the Germans.  After all that they were willing to grab their gear and rifles and do it all over again.  True Heroes.

My grandfather entered the service in Bedford and was at the dedication of the memorial. Pretty powerful place if you ever get a chance to go. The book brought me to tears.

Small world, my Mom lives less than two miles from the memorial.
