Let's start our DU demands to restart the government.
In the spirit of this thread,
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023776351
I figured we could create a nice list of counter offers to present to the House.
According to the above thread we already have:
1. Clean bill to fund the government
2. Approval of all Judicial Nominees.
3. Statehood for D.C.
4. a new bill of Elizabeth Warren's choosing
5. Really strong controls on financial markets
Everyone post up one item to bring to the table.
I'll go with eliminate
6. Eliminate Bush Era Tax Cuts
Anyone else?
Tx4obama (33,259 posts)
2. Immigration Reform Bill, Prison Reform Bill, and Pass the Violence Against Women Act
... and pass a Gun Violence Reform bill
Wait!
You mean it's not already illegal to shoot people with a gun?
HOLY ****! Have I got some 'splainin' to do.

3. Legalize!

2naSalit (2,034 posts)
4. No to KXL!!
But then how would you drive to the Pot Shop?
Shrike47 (877 posts)
5. Reinstate protections for wolves.
Double budget for EPA.
There's an election winner.
Nuclear Unicorn (8,682 posts)
6. So what you propose is --
shutting down the government as each party haggles over its individual pets policies but must come together to fund at least the barest minimum governmental functions, i.e. police and military.
And just how does this defeat the TP?
She is doomed in Bizarro world.

7. Removal of house districts. 1 representative per 10k people.
Failing that, non-partisan redistricting

11. offer to defund obamacare and replace with single payer
Buddha_of_Wisdom (26 posts)
12. A one-time 50% COLA increase on our SS....
SS barely covers ANYTHING.
Lemme guess: Buddha is on SS
BTW -- the real Buddha says suffering comes from unfulfilled desire.

Just what we need. 33 ****ing thousand representatives making 175K plus, not including all of the assholes' staff. Yeah, that's a GREAT way to deal with our national debt!

And DC will take over the entire state of Maryland and half of Virginia to handle the influx. Once that happens, the question of assigning Senate representation to the District of Columbia will be even more important to the Rats.
No thanks.

The House Republicans are doing the right thing. Offer to fund things that both sides can agree on, and offer to negotiate in good faith and in the open. The Democrats detest both, but they will come to the negotiating table. They can't let Nov. 1 roll around where they haven't cut a deal with the Republicans.
Think of all the apartment owners that would have to adjust their rent prices and policies without government price support. Think what would happen if things had to be priced not according to what is distributed, but to what the economy will actually support.
The only thing we have to worry about is that class of people that will not support themselves, preferring to allow the government to commit their robberies. Take away the government money and they'll lash out since they aren't getting their tribute.

The big battle is raising the debt ceiling, not the CR, and that will happen on Oct 17th.

Nope, he's asking for more.
Check RobJohnson's comment on that thread; it's the latest one.

Yep, that was the first of his big lies that the media not just ignored but praised.
