No. 2 US nuke commander suspended amid probe
Source: AP
The No. 2 officer at the military command in charge of all U.S. nuclear war-fighting forces has been suspended and is under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigation Command, officials said Saturday.
The highly unusual action against a high-ranking officer at U.S. Strategic Command was made more than three weeks ago but not publicly announced.
Air Force Gen. Robert Kehler, the commander of Strategic Command, suspended the deputy commander, Navy Vice Adm. Tim Giardina, from his duties on Sept. 3, according to the command's top spokeswoman, Navy Capt. Pamela Kunze. He is still assigned to the command but is prohibited from performing duties related to nuclear weapons and other issues requiring a security clearance, she said.
Kehler has recommended to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel that Giardina be reassigned, Kunze said. Giardina has been the deputy commander of Strategic Command since December 2011. He is a career submarine officer and prior to starting his assignment there was the deputy commander and chief of staff at U.S. Pacific Fleet.

1. Apparently a gambling problem, which Yahoo seems to have left out of THIS version:
WASHINGTON (AP) — The No. 2 officer at the military command in charge of all U.S. nuclear war-fighting forces has been suspended and is under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigation Command for issues related to gambling, officials said Saturday.
Two senior U.S. officials familiar with the investigation said it is related to gambling issues. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the probe in incomplete.

4. Naw. They're just wiretapped more often.
Ever read Catch-22? That will cure you from the illusion that U.S. military officers were any less warped than the rest of the population. At least in World War Two they weren't.
There are truths that can only be told in fiction.

Old Joe wants you to buy anything, just so he can point to it ans say...See I told you the economy was improving.
Maybe this guy does have a gambling problem, BUT...it sure seems like there are is a bigger % of military officers being investigated and discharged with this administration then any of the rest in recent history. (Got my tin foil hat on)

No need for orders. If Barry wants them shot, send them to Chicago.

The difference in the make up of the the military during the Vietnam war and that post Carter was shocking. I served in the Navy from '69-75 or there about and then spent a very brief amount of time with the Army Reserve in '79 with Smokey Bear outfit. The change was nothing short of incredible. While the draft encouraged a lot of enlistments to be sure, once the grumbling was over you had folk who could get things done. The all volunteer crew was a whole different critter comprised of 'homeless hangers on' and a PC officer corps. Sorry if this affects anyone's sensibilities but it was the way things were at the time. Carter was responsible for this gutting of the services from what saw. The reserve unit I served in was a Paper Tiger, albeit politically correct. I actually got to see them in the field. It was not pretty, it was down right scary, they could have been taken out by a Brownie troupe.

The charge I believe is he was using counterfeit chips. One has to wonder how he was caught and how they knew he was passing them. There is so much to the story we do not know, he may have been set up for a fall do to his high up position and wanting to move a less experienced man in.
Where did he get the chips was it at the Casino itself, one seldom wanders about with Casino with high stake chips in their pocket. HUMMMMMM, If one cannot get a man in his position for sex or drugs or any kind of malfeasance of Duty, it takes allot of ingenuity to find a way to screw him over.
Innocent until proven guilty-----He may well be guilty but how the heck was he caught ???
We go to the Casinos every 2-3 years with just $100.00 each and have been lucky to win chips now and then. Walk up to the window and turn them in, we do not examine the chips, nor does the people behind the Bars. Just a quick look and the money is paid out.
Unless this Officer was winning big time, how to tell why he was under observation. Friend or ours went to Fox wood on a bus with us, he became a bit inebriated and began to make bets on black jack.
When he began to make bets of $100.00 a hand in comes a man on a electric rolling cart armed with camera. We managed to drag him out by the time he lost $500.00 but darn he was not happy with us, One more hand he kept saying as we rolled him onto the bus to go home.
I do not know how a Casino with all the security involved could be taken for thousands of dollars with false chips, and then not press charges on the man and now the Government is involved.
We used to bait lobsters with salted red fish, the smell was something one had to get use to. I am getting a whiff now but do not know what way the wind is blowing.

That's all true and I had similar experiences, though in the darkest days of the Carter administration there were still a trickle of high-quality people keeping the service on life support out of sheer selfless dedication to an ideal and way of life. The Reagan rebuilding of the services took a long time to pay off, because the combined Carter and Viet Nam legacies had done damage that took years to heal, mainly in rebuilding a mid-grade and senior NCO corps that had been nearly wiped out, but by the late 80s most of that damage was behind us and the forces had returned to being worth their salt.
Unfortunately, that happened long enough ago that almost nobody still on active duty has first-hand memories of it, and so it seems fairly likely that we will be doomed to repeat it, especially if Obama is succeeded by another Commie.

Started to see it again under Clinton. Had a brief rest for 8 years under W...but 44 has picked up where Billy Jeff left off on breaking the wil of the military.

Don't know some military for one reason or another decided to not RE-up and found that they were left with no unemployment insurance-----As were the military that were refused to become re-up due to 101 conditions.
One poor guy was refused for a Re-up because his wife had a medical condition that was costly, he fought the law but the law won.
I myself was a piece of this , Kidney failure while pregnant, told to get an abortion, when I refused
I was considered going against DR. orders sent home as Tippler had the burden of caring for the kids coming in with limbs missing. Baby grew up to join the Army and is still alive and healthy.
Nixon had at that time cut off money to care for our Men in the war and the dependents of those serving our country got the shaft. Darn I did hate Nixon to leave these kids flying in ever day missing limbs and their family's with substandard care. How could these men drafted go into battle with out knowing their wives and kids were cared for medically ?
A bitch of a time and I see the same thing happening today with Obama and his crew of strange warriors. not FOR us but against us.
Bitch ended for now, but I expect to see worse in the future of Obama land and out Nation.

It takes years of education and training to go up the ranks, mistakes will be made along the way,
What do you do with a drunken Sailor ?
This is a purge of our best educated and experienced men and Gals in the service. ------ Quite frightening to me, all anti- Obama out for some reason or another .
Military stripped from the most Saltie Dogs, the best of the Chiefs with 25 years in, all turned over to the young inexperienced of men.
Those up the line of command have one choice and that is to retire. Too smart, too well seasoned to face a monster that will overcome America. What to do but retire and weep as the country goes down hill.

Well, you're supposed to put 'em in the scuppers with the hose-pipe on 'em, but that's probably illegal hazing now.

The MSM has made a big deal of the fact that the leaders of the two countries haven't spoken leader to leader in over three decades and now Obama has spoken with what's-his-face.....still haven't spoken leader to leader in my opinion....only as Muslim to Muslim.
