Bizarre nightmare or 11-dimensional chess re: PPACA/Obamacare
I'll make it brief. I've always been skeptical of Obamacare but never really against it... until now.
I carry an individual insurance policy through Blue Cross. I pay $153/mo, have a $1,500 deductible, $1,500 out-of-pocket limit, and a 0% copay.
I got my PPACA packet from Blue Cross/Blue Shield outlining my new plan which is "ACA compatible," and the sum-of-all-fears reality is that my new "compatible" plan is $264, with a $3,000 deductible, $6,350 out-of-pocket limit, and a whopping 50% copay! I am forced into it on January 1st because they can no longer sell my old plan.
Are the insurance companies are being spiteful and vindictive? Is this some 11-dimensional Obama plan to get single-payer? Because this looks bloody awful...
Pull up a chair, ReveredTurd. Let me explain what's about to happen to you. You are what's called the DENOMINATOR. Your sick and worthless DUmmy brethren are called the NUMERATOR. (http://www.democraticunderground.com/10023711658)
You contribute benefits to your brethren, who are currently not insurable because of the litany of health woes foisted upon them by George W. Bush. THEY contribute costs, which you get to pay, along with the rest of us.
OWN IT, MOTHERF***ER.

The conservatives are trying to defund owebumacare. If the libs who have seen the light join the fight, it might just get defunded.

The first 5 minutes of this dumb video explains Obamacare so simply even DUmmies can understand it....well, maybe a few will.

You can leave it when the sales pitch for some book starts.

A far cry from what the socialists thought it would be. I remember several years ago when Obamacare was just a whisper of an idea. These little fascists thought it would be free surgeries, free meds and drugs, free hormone treatments for the queers etc.

But wait a minute!
If you like the plan you have now, you can keep it!
I'm sure I heard the jug-eared muslim say that.
Most normal people like the plan they have now, so that was how the muslim got his way.
So I'm pretty sure most normal people will just keep the plan they have, right?

If you listen to the buttface speak, he didn't say you'd probably pay through the nose to keep your doctor/plan. But that's a Democrat for you.

No sympathy from me dummie. No the insurance companies are not being spiteful either. They have these things called actuaries that calculate all kinds of things to come up with the rates. Rest assured dummie... once the market starts to drop the rates will go even higher since the insurance companies will not be making any money there either. I think they call it the float... not sure though... but what they do is invest in securities hoping to get a decent return which in turn helps keep rates down. Now that obumblescare forces them to only make so much in any one year, expect your rates to go even higher.
You wanted it, you worked for it, you were warned multiple times and you called us stupid, and you were successful. Now you own it!!!!

4. I don't think he ever said no changes to policies...
Just that you can "keep your current doctor", assuming you stay with your current plan... thus you'll still have the same insurance company... etc.
Let's see if Stretch Pelosi can clear this up:
At a Thursday afternoon press conference, Nancy Pelosi responded to news that, contrary to earlier claims by Barack Obama and Pelosi herself, Obamacare will cause health insurance premiums to rise sharply for many people who purchase their own insurance in the individual market.
"I don't remember saying that everybody in the country would have a lower premium," Pelosi said in response to a question from THE WEEKLY STANDARD. But during last year's presidential campaign, Pelosi said that because of Obamacare "everybody will have lower rates." Pelosi, the House minority leader, made the comment during a July 1, 2012 appearance on Meet the Press
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/pelosi-i-dont-recall-saying-premiums-would-go-down-everybody-under-obamacare_733919.html
Stupid DUmmies bought it hook, line, and sinker. What a bunch of fools. It would be laughable what suckers they are if they weren't dragging the rest of us down with them.
Obamacare isn't going to work, DUmmies. They knew it never had a chance of working. They did it on purpose. Get that through your thick skulls.

Aren't insurance companies required to pay out 85% of the premiums they collect on insurance claims? What about their overhead and profit margins? What about a cushion for years where there are an abundance of claims, or what if there was a massive national disaster? Plague?
Can the government really tell a company how much they can make? It should be illegal.

Dangerous slope we are going down. What's next? Only can drive so many miles a week due to global warming? Can't set your thermostat to 70 degrees due to global warming? The possibilities frighten the living shit out of me, Dori. :badmood:

I just don't understand how the government can tell a company how much they have to spend on direct costs. What about the overhead? Like your payroll, rent, etc.

Insurance is a pretty highly regulated industry.
I doubt this "must pay out 85% of premiums in claims" is out of line with other regulations they've lived with for years.

I don't know about that. It's that limit that forces the insurance companies to send out a few refund checks here and there. Obama uses those people for props.
