I wish someone would explain to me why the History Channel is so full of shit
Last edited Mon Sep 16, 2013, 07:57 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
There are ten thousand stories that can be taken (accurately) from the annals of history that can be told without embellishment and fascinate an audience. But that is not what the History channel airs, not by a long shot. Instead they simply make shit up and pass it off as honest portrayals of historical events. I think it is the most disgraceful and dishonest broadcasting to be found. It could be such a great educational tool, but instead its just a tool that seems to be used (purposefully?) to add to delusion and confusion. You can learn more about the human condition by watching South Park on the Comedy Channel than can be discovered watching all of the "Discovery" family of channels put together. How can this be? There is no more money to be made by telling the truth than telling lie after lie after lie - so I really can't understand it. Can anyone enlighten me?

The History Channel has morphed into another reality tee vee network, but I do enjoy Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Counting Cars, American Restoration, and Only In America With Larry The Cable Guy. I can understand why a bunch of commies would hate shows with a capitalistic theme.

8. Accurate history is the most subversive subject there is...to a totalitarian society.
Draw your own conclusions.
That is why history is not taught in the public schools. In order to turn future generations into 0bamaites one must have a piss poor understanding of American history, anyone with a good knowledge of history in this country will not be supportive of what the left is doing.

22. Keeping the USA stupid is a proactive industry.
Yep it keeps democrats in power. The more ignorant the populace the more democrats we will have.

25. Isn't Duck Dynasty on History?
I can't stand duck dynasty.
Understandable since you can't stand decent hardworking successful people.
The beauty of Duck Dynasty is they are showing the world that you can be a decent civilized person and still have a lot of fun.

52. I just heard about "Duck Dynasty!"
I work with a rabid right-winger and she's just started talking about it a couple of weeks ago. She's brought it up in conversation several times; thinks it's a really terrific show.
She also thinks Obama is the worse president we've ever had and the media has already ordained Hillary Clinton as the Democratic candidate in 2016.
I don't listen to her much...
What is with DUmmies and their problem with worse and worst? You would think such educated and brilliant people could get that right.

41. Larry the Cable Guy
If anyone ever took the History Channel seriously they should have changed
their minds when Larry the Cable Guy was given a show on that channel.
It's a fun show, it's like a redneck version of dirty jobs.
Watching DUmmies about incorrect history is pretty amusing. These are the people who will tell you with a straight face that our founding fathers were socialists.

And yet you watch MSNBC. Go figure.

I was wondering when they would get around to Duck Dynasty. I adore it; it's conservative pr0n. Free enterprise, God, family, country, guns & blowing shit up. What's not to love?
DUmmies, it's extremely popular and growing more so.

My wife loves Duck Dynasty. Can't see it enough. :yahoo:

They really do blow on their actual history shows, using a limited stable of producers who rely heavily on a small pool of historical clips (Many of which are ridiculously misused, like the 'Pearl Harbor attack' footage of three Dauntlesses starting an attack dive, which the standard producers apparently have never been able to tell from actual Vals - the footage comes from a WW2-era film re-enacting the parts of the attack that there wasn't actual newsreel footage for) and manufacturer promotional footage to great excess (Like anything on tanks, which ends up with a half-hour of manufacturer/DOD press release film of the M1A2 Abrams). Half of their 'Expert commentators' on military stuff are amazing dumbasses to boot, and the shows have increasingly less historical balance and more politicization and jingoism. Documentaries about WW1 and WW2 produced in 50s and 60s are head and shoulders above the crap that's getting cranked out now about that era for the History/Discovery/Military Channel family. While I do like most of their reality shows, there's really just 'way too many of them for the channel themes.

I don't think I watch much of History channel, for a while it seemed to be All Hitler All the Time. As for reality shows, for me, a little goes a long way.
I've noticed that Travel channel's Mysteries of the Museum even has bias, depending on the area of the country (such as Chicago). One curator seemed fond of union violence.
Duck Dynasty is on A&E. The DUmmie, as usual, got it wrong.

Rick from Pawn Stars was on Glen Beck a few months back. Seems to be a pretty intelligent and down to earth guy. Read his book a while ago and it is pretty interesting about his background and the hoops they had to jump through to open the store.
That and I think the Old Man is a real hoot!

Well the history channel used to be, IMO a much better channel than it is today. A few ago I saw two different shows on Vikings that didn't quite add up together as far as timelines and the such, its history in x year they did y period. I think its due to the Dummys that have infiltrated the networks myself.....for gods sake ask any hardcore leftist and they will tell you that the repubs and the demonrats switched political sides in the past....but they cant give you ANY proof...lol talk about "embellishment" to further you false cause.

I don't watch any of those shows regularly but if they piss off the DUchebags, they must be doing something right.
-
I gave up on History. At least when they had Ancient Aliens they were showing actual ancient ruins.
-
I gave up on TV completely. I really hate all reality shows...Manufactured drama, bad acting by the participants, it's TV aimed at the lowest human intelligence.
Not that this is any different than TV in the past...It just seems so..unseemly now.

There is a reality show about people who hate reality shows. I am nominating you for an audition.

Outside of "Ice Road Truckers", NASCAR, F1, Indycar, WRC, and NHRA , I don't watch much TV.
There's no "there" there anymore.
-
Going to the History Channel for history is like going to MTV for music.
Actually, I think the History Channel is where the DUmp's trained historian got her training.

I would be perfect for that show, yes!
Seriously, I go over to my buddies house, and he just flips from reality show to reality show, Duck Dynasty, Mountain Men, Pawn Stars, etc.
It just seems there's no end to it...everything is fit for Reality TV, and when you've reached that point, is any of it entertaining anymore? I don't look down on people who watch it, it's just not interesting to me.

Really. :cheersmate: I'd rather live my own life, TYVM, rather than live vicariously through those on the tube.
ETA: Duck Dynasty is a riot, though. Same with Top Gear, but only on the Beeb (and I know it's not a "reality show," per se).

I don't watch reality TV.
The DUmp is my Truman Show.

I don't know if he owns it anymore, but at one time Karl Rove owned a home just east of the town where The Truman Show was filmed.

I like that show- granted, its pretty obviously scripted in some places, but its wholesome family fun. No swearing. No random hook-ups. No binge drinking/drugs/etc. etc.
And every episode ends in a prayer and family dinner.
No wonder the primitives hate it.
