It begans.... Truckers To Shut Down America
"a major shut down of America in a 3 day strike October 11th thru 13th."

apparently a 3 day convoy to DC.
Remember when this happened in other countries???

Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/truckerstoshutdownamerica?ref=stream

This will spread. More and more "going dark" days will be called for.
Did anyone notice the "dark" web pages on 9-11?

A disturbance in the force, there is.......

How about, you know, doing something to lower the price of diesel?  Maybe drill a little here, pipe a little there?

Assbag.

Just libs allowing their natural instincts to kick in before getting the whole story. These morons spent so many years telling themselves they were the under dogs and pretending to be revolutionaries that they have no idea how to handle it now that they are the ones being pushed back against.

These mouthbreathers don't seem to realize truckers get paid per mile.  Driver pay is a small slice of the pie when it comes to running a company or being an owner-operator.  $300/day for one truck is small potatoes... some of those people are paying up to $1000 a day to keep a single truck fueled and on the road.

Yea the TRUE truckers (haulers) have it bad when the price goes up...my post was tongue in cheek about my pocketbook. I don't need the break like they do I get 40+MPH.

Most semi trucks get about 7 miles to the gallon and even at $3.50 a gallon, that's 50 cent per mile for fuel. Then you have to pay a driver, pay insurance, pay road use tax, license tags, tires, pay for truck....on and on and on it goes.... then you have the DUmmies wanting more of your money.....sheeeesh, just give up and push a DUmmie off his gummint tit and take it from him/her/it.

The Sunday comics section, featuring Peanuts on Page 1, and for an episode involving Charlie Brown, Lucille van Pelt, and a football, that is!

Do all truckers join the Teamster's union?

They shut down deliveries to grocery stores here for four months.  It was brutal.

If any of the drivers I dealt with were union members, they never mentioned it.

Usually, Teamsters/UAW/IBEW goons are so ate up with jealousy and envy they can't wait to tell you about their union and how wonderful it is.  I never heard a peep for two years.

And would not affect me in the slightest.  City (D)Ullards? Bwaaahahahahaha.....

I can have two months supply of perishables on hand in about an hour.  I'll make a second trip for beer.  I can cut driving down, a minimum, of 50%.

Eat me, you stupid dependent little retards.

Same here.  All that I personally know are independent.

Yep. 15 years ago it cost an owner/operator about $1 an mile to properly upkeep, lease and fuel his tractor. I can't imagine what it would be now. I do know of some farmers that ended up in the trucking business taking contracts for about 85 cents a mile and somehow they were still able to pay the drivers an hourly wage, but they did not stay in business long.

97. The only trucker I know well literally can't wait for Obamacare to kick in

He's got cancer, five children (including a newborn), and no employer-provided health coverage.

OK, he may now purchase a policy for about $75,000 per year.  What a relief!

Psst DUmmie, pre-existing only applies to kiddoes now, the adult part ran out of money.

The gummint take is the same regardless of what a gallon of diesel sells for at the pump.  They're not hurting.

It depends...I am pretty sure in NY at least the sales tax is calculated last as a percent so the higher the base the more overall revenue they collect.

Beat me to it Carl. Here in Kalifornia they get the new and improved sales tax put on every bit of fuel sales. It is in the states interest to keep fuel high even if it means they lose businesses and productive people to other states and nations. They be smarterer then uss nukle dragerz.

I tried looking up the specifics of it for NY and what a confusing way of calculating it.
No surprise it is a nightmare of exclusions of excise taxes so it does not end up being a tax on a tax but ultimately the base at a higher figure generates more dollars for the state/county.

MAssachusetts has you all beat. Recently passed legislation increased the fuel tax and tied it to inflation for automatic perpetual increases.  No need for future legislators to go on the record with their vote to increase gas taxes.  Yippppeeee.  :argh:

They learned from their betters....the US congress....they get automatic raises....to not get a raise they have to vote not to take it.

I was curious, and nadined it.

There are about a million Teamsters, including truckers plus a swarm of other small occupations where Teamster tentacles have penetrated.

There are about three-and-a-half million truckers in America.
