Last Thursday I got a call from a blood bank telling me that my blood was a match for a baby who needs a heart operation. I went in this morning to donate a pint.
You would think that donating blood is a pretty nonpartisan activity, but it turns out that conservatives are much more likely to donate blood than liberals are. Liberal New York Times columnist Nicholas D. Kristof bemoaned this liberal embarrassment in a December 20, 2008 column and cites economist Arthur C. Brooks about this.
In 2006 Brooks wrote the book Who Really Cares which reports that in all forms of charity, conservatives are more generous than liberals, including blood donations, so much so that Dr. Brooks said, "If liberals and moderates gave blood at the same rate as conservatives, the blood supply of the United States would jump about 45 percent."
As professor Thomas Sowell says, "Being willing to donate the taxpayers' money is not the same as putting your own money where your mouth is."
Or your blood.
If liberals have a reputation for being so compassionate, why don't they donate blood like conservatives do?

Yup.
Most beautiful woman on the planet spent 1-1/2 years in England on a church mission. She wouldn't be permitted to donate if she were the only other O positive holder on the planet, even though she is healthy as a horse (once you wipe the foam from around her mouth... :-) ).

Mrs E has promised to tell me when I start slobbering and writhing on the floor, trying to get up. Not that I'd be able to do anything about that....

Blood drives just need to be properly couched in socialist terms to get the libs to donate. Maybe a vote for every lib and another vote for every pint a lib brings in. They just might donate all their blood for a deal like that.

Need to be careful there. Upon death, the Liberal gets a multiplier to their +3 voting power.
How big that is depends on just how far their nose is up Dear Readers ass. Could backfire....

It's also a known that people who get organ transplants sometimes start thinking of things that never occurred to them before or develop food likes and cravings they never cared for before. Doctor's have attested to the fact that it happens in some of their patients.

Anecdotal. I love using that word.
