Title: Senate Panel Backs Use of Force Against Syria
Post by: Chris_ on September 04, 2013, 03:30:19 PM
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved a resolution Wednesday authorizing President Barack Obama to conduct military strikes against Syria.

The 10-7 vote came after the panel added a provision stating that U.S. policy aims to "change the momentum on the battlefield" in the Syrian civil war, in order to force President Bashar al-Assad to agree to a negotiated settlement that ends the conflict and paves the way for a democratic government. The full Senate and House must still approve the resolution.

Most definitely NOT a surprise.

And Barry's gang of sycophants, i.e., most of Congress, will follow suit shortly.  :whatever:

WWIII incoming?

My mother, GRHS, always said the Democrats will lie you into war, blame Republicans, then expect them to bail them out of it.  She was a smart woman, seldom wrong about Democrats, a fact that took me years to realize.

The resolution passed with a bipartisan margin of 10-7, with one member, Sen. Edward Markey (D., Mass.), voting "present."

Seven Democrats voted for the resolution: Mr. Coons, Robert Menendez of New Jersey, Barbara Boxer of California, Benjamin Cardin of Maryland, Jean Shaheen of New Hampshire, Dick Durbin of Illinois and Tim Kaine of Virginia. They were joined by Republicans Bob Corker of Tennessee, and Mr. McCain and Jeff Flake of Arizona.

Ed Markey is the replacement for Horseface for those who are playing along at home.

I wonder, any "rush to judgement" for O'Bungles?

Na, didn't think so.

To call Queen Jeanne a whore would be unkind to those who sell their bodies for money.

Even whores have standards.

Listen to Obama in 2007.  Look at what he's doing today.

Yeah, that's a Nobel Peace Prize type of guy right there.  Asshat.

And Queen Jeanne?  Toast.  One and done.  Get your resume updated.

The Senile Senior Senator from the Granny State, Jeanne, the Dowager Queen.  She just gets a little confused from time to time all she knows is the line  "My president, right or wrong."   She has forsaken the base.  Primary Jeanne the Kindergarten Queen.  She is not progressive enough.  She is a Republicon in Democratic clothing...... :rotf:

Yet as bad as Queen Jeanne is, Che-Pelosi is an braindead brown nosing rubber stamp.  I really do think she needs an extra staffer to keep her watered and remind her to breathe.

NBC poll has it 7 to 1 against (5k for 35k against). Meathead is going to bomb them whether Congress ok's it  or not. Repubs have the Democrats by the gonads but Bonehead is too stupid to figure it out.

The whole thing is a political ploy. Wag the dog and rally the troops before the 2014 elections.

Backfired. Big time.
Al Queda is the side we'll be helping. People don't want this war. The world doesn't want anything to do with this.
Congress will vote it down... so that leaves the rats in a bind.

1) Obama backs down in utter defeat, and may drag 2014 down with him.
2) Obama bombs anyways, angering the people, getting servicemen killed, and drags down 2014 with him.

The only upside I can see is if boots go on the ground, the military brass can put the gays in the front lines.

Obama bombs Syria, and Israel is attacked and more terrorists attacks happen in the US.

I think Obozo's speech to sell this one is going to be a day late and a dollar short.  The public has pretty thoroughly made up its mind on this BS.

Knowing how they keep getting tripped up with their deeds turning into scandals and disasters, it makes me very nervous he's going to give this speech on the eve of 9/11.

I have a very bad feeling......

There might be something to the timing of this. He might think in his twisted pea brain that if he can link it to that date somehow, he has his goal in the bag.

I'm just wondering how President Moron will blame republicans for his predicament of talking tough and having his bluff called.

I see McLame got a lot of back talk from his voters.  :lmao:

A trap of the president’s making

Last week, was arguably the worst of Barack Obama’s presidency. If the wheels are not to come off it altogether, this coming one will need to be among his best – starting on Tuesday night with his address to the nation about Syria.

It is hard to understand how an instinctively cautious president in his fifth year could have manoeuvred himself into such a dismal corner. But his largely self-charted route lends little confidence that he can easily escape it.

And we have a "million" al Qaeda sympathizers planning to rub some salt in those wounds on Wednesday as well. Mohammed's Merry Band of Goat-Raping Miscreants may be many things, but subtle isn't one of them. :loser:

White House insists it may strike Syria without congressional approval
http://thehill.com/blogs/defcon-hill/operations/321103-white-house-insists-it-may-strike-syria-without-congressional-approval

Quote
The White House insisted Monday that it was legally able to launch a strike on Syria without congressional approval even as it intensified its courting of lawmakers to support military action.

White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler told the New York Times that a strike would be lawful under both domestic and international law. She told the paper that the president could strike because of the “important national interests” surrounding the use of chemical weapons, even without Congress or United Nations approval.

Ruemmler contended that while the Syria situation “may not fit under a traditionally recognized legal basis under international law,” it would nevertheless be “justified and legitimate.”

Obama said he will attack Syria without Congressional approval. That is illegal. No?

Not sure if it's illegal or not.  Several talking heads on both sides of the aisle have said that Obama doesn't need their permission, and he has a hidden motive for putting it to a vote.

Reid is bringing it up for a vote on Wednesday in the senate.

His motive isn't really all that hidden: he's hoping to get the approval so that when, not if, our involvement gets Americans killed, he can blame them for giving him permission.

^^^This.

Barry takes no accountability for ANY decision he makes, unless it happens to be a good one in the eyes of the beholder.

For decisions such as attacking Syria in which there's an entire shitload of stuff ready to go wrong, Barry will blame Congress should they be stupid enough to go down Barry's Highway.

He was hoping for exactly what McLame and Gramnesty did.  They had to demonstrate their great power and wisdom by altering O'Bungles original request so he can blame the almost certain failure on Congress.
