Gravitycollapse (3,057 posts)

I crashed my new motorcycle in heavy rain on a mountain road.

Went up to a corner, leaned in and the front end went completely numb. Realizing that there was no way to avoid an accident, I stood it upright and applied the brakes as best I could without locking them up in the wet.

Slid off the road into the ditch and low sided. The bike landed on me but fortunately the dirt was soft enough that I wiggled out. The bike isn't totaled by it needs several thousand dollars worth of repair.

And I think I broke my wrist. Haven't gone to the ER yet because I don't have health insurance. Altogether, a pretty bad afternoon. But the tow truck driver pointed out the fact that about 100 yards further north, there were 4 crosses for 4 different riders who have died in that turn over the years. So I guess I should feel lucky to be alive.

Glad that you are safe.
I do hope you realize God spared you.

But....

You bought a new motorcycle and you don't have health insurance?!
I thought dear leader said health insurance is just as imperative as car insurance!
Hmmm...maybe instead of buying a new motorcycle we should stay on 4 wheels and save for medical costs...
Seems like common sense.

I'm glad he is ok, looking at the photos he was lucky.

I would think he would have medical payments on his motorcycle policy if he did not have health coverage?

No matter what, I truly am happy he did not end up with more serious injuries or worse.

That's not a motorcycle! Leaning it into a turn in the rain on a mountain road?  :stoner:

In the first pic, anyone recognize what state the license is from? I think it's Washington, but not sure.

I bet he could have bought a lot of health insurance with that money.

I wonder if he ever took motorcycle safety classes.  Leaning into a turn?  On a mountain?  In the rain?  The only reason he is still alive is the grim reaper took one look at a him and said, "No, that's just to easy, I gotta have some standards or all the other reapers are going to laugh at me."

And now for something completely different...

Apparently AdBot has been paying attention to the discussion on DainBramaged and the fat walrus' career prospects.

AdBot for the win.

**** gravitycollapse and his 70's view of soldiers. It's a shame he wasn't seriously injured.

The bad thing about those Japanese ninja crotch rockets is that too often the internal organs get too ripped up for transplant. The rider's corneas are usually okay, but forget about his heart or kidneys.

A concientious organ donor rides a Harley noise machine.
