Title: Group Banning as opposed to Forum Banning
Post by: Aristotelian on September 02, 2013, 09:25:41 AM
It started when I saw a thread in the now pretty boring A.T.A. forum - DUmp Link (http://www.democraticunderground.com/12593193)

Group Banning as opposed to Forum Banning

I sent this to sheshe2 of the Barack Obama Group:

I was banned from the Barack Obama group for asking a question: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1102&pid=14469

Actually I was not aware of the distinction between a Forum and a Group.

I browse DU by viewing Greatest Threads, which does not prominently display the group or forum where a message originated. Perhaps you and DU system administrators should arrange that Closed Group messages are not displayed on the Greatest Thread page, because it is very offensive and alienating for a casual browser to be tombstoned for a comment that does not violate the DU terms of service.

I suppose that I vaguely knew that there was a Barack Obama Group (BOG) for those for whom the displays of affection and love for the glorious leader in G.D. are not enough...but seeing this I wandered over to it.

The threads are pretty reminiscent of a pro-Stalin rally in the Soviet Union of the '30s. But looking under the group information page the hosts have managed to find reasons to ban 109 DUmmies from there...good job that they're not pursuing group-think there or anything like that.  :mental: :mental: :mental:
