Well I gave my two weeks today.
He seemed relived. He said I should be supper fast by now. Problem is I have only worked there for 8 days, no counting the days off. He thinks I was there for a full 15 days, back to back.
I have not worked that many hours, I wish! The pay would be fantastic if that was the case. but the have kept me just over 30. And he says he will be cutting them since I am now just waiting to leave. Not that I didn't expect it, but he didn't have to look so happy about it!
But one of my sisters have there sights on my "old" job. he likes the though of all the overtime that the say you get. I say "Good Luck" at getting the time.
I am going home. I will be very happy when I am on that bus!

2. Still a little up in the air on that.
I am trying to see about stay at a shelter called Primavera. But They say I need to wait till I am there to see if they can help. With the monsoons about over I should be able to get a 7 day stay at the Hospitality house ran by the Salvation Army. What I am going to do is find out how bad my ex So has screwed up my chances at HUD section 8 housing for myself. I could not reach the case worker due to not having their number and full name. They would not try to patch he through with just the last name. So I could not report myself on what happened.
I know that he has to sign a new agreement this month (Sept.) with them for the HUD/VASH program and I was supposed to be there to sign the last part with him. I am on all the preliminary for year two, but I will not be on the final paperwork for it.
I will get ahold of Primavera Monday, Oct 7th. to see what can be done.
I will get there 9 something am on Sunday. I can try to relax a night before I go ripping into things.

be able to get to Arizona so soon. Do you have someplace lined up to stay once you get there?

Of course he was relieved. He really was not looking forward to firing you. One of the most unpleasant tasks of managers.
WTF is supper fast? Do you even look over what you type, dummie? Granted I ain't the best speller in the world, but I do try to proofread to catch the obvious ones. Seems to me like you got ripped off on that college education. Educated you are not.
And you never worked there for 5 minutes dummie... you showed up. Big difference. After a couple of days a manager will know if you can cut the mustard. You obviously can't. That is why you are a dummie. :loser:

Yeah probably the one throwing the profanity laden tirade on Facebook about how someone screwed her reference for a better job and the other sister saying she should open a case against them for not allowing her time off for her pagan holidays. A question nobody but me seems to have.
She's leaving the safety and security of her family on October 5, headed down to Tucson.
Why is she quitting her job more than a month beforehand?
How's she going to support herself those five weeks, until she goes?
Maybe she's counting on primitive contributions to her paypal account to cover her, but we all remember what happened when the big guy from Bellevue counted on contributions from primitives to pay for his political campaign.

That just never occurred to me, Frank!!! She is a dummie though. Who the hell knows what goes thru her mind. I fully expect that posts will follow about how her evil family did <insert whatever wrong here> to her.
On the other hand Frank... now that I thought about for more than a minute... maybe she is angling for the family to pay for the ticket just to get her the hell out of the state. Who knows? Hell if it was me I'd give her $400 and a bus ticket just to get her out of my hair. :cheersmate: :cheersmate:

WOW! It will cost almost $50 bucks to get a birth certificate!
I was thinking that mine is getting a little worn down. So I looked that the KS site to find out how to get one. Well to use the internet and order one would be $26 regular mail but by the time it get here I will be on the bus.
Looked at the other option, UPS, and the price goes to nearly $50 bucks! Just to ship a piece of paper?????
I will wait till I am in AZ so that I can pay the other price. It may take some time but.... $50 bucks! JEEZ!
Kansas takes a month to mail a certificate of birth?
I've gotten them from Nebraska and Pennsylvania within a week, using regular mail to request, and they sending them regular mail back to me.
Is the primitive confused about something? She's not leaving this month, but next month.

Does she keep it in her shoe?

Can't remember the time frame of your Bouncy and the Odyssey, cannot make change for a .99 charge from a dollar bill, can't drive (!?!?!?!) on and on and on...... Now, no birth certificate?
If I had never become familiar with these troglodytes over the years, I would refuse to believe it. It's no wonder they scream for government aid. They would be dead and homeless without it.

I have never had to do it here in Illinois. Dad sent me the original and four certified copies years ago, which I registered at Jackson County along with my DD-214MC. What do these people think that that process is for?
Oh, ....wait again. I said "think", didn't I?

When she gets to AZ and starts looking for a new job, she should make sure that she puts down the convenient store as experience for past employment. Also, she should ask her boss for a reference to let her new potential employer know just what kind of worker she was.

It was a good thing that I did hand in my two weeks yesterday...
I would never have known I work till close today.
I don't understand why he does not call me when he changes the schedule. And the 10 1/2 days are very hard since I must stand the whole time. So I would like a heads up.
Apparently you get no breaks. When I worked fast food (way back before school) if I worked 8 hours or more I got at least two 15 min breaks and 30 lunch. This job I don't get that. I stand the whole 10+ hours. try and eat lunch if there is no one in store and all cleaning is done.
How the Convenient Store get away with not following the labor laws are beyond me.
-
Umm when I worked a few overnights when I was younger the reasoning is that there are normally long stretches of it being slow and time to catch a break or lunch. I can recall being done with the things I had to do and having stretches from about 3 to 5 am where there were virtually no customers and I was done with clean up. I managed a lunch and had to keep from nodding off it was so slow. The only place I remember being constantly busy overnight was a donut shop by a university. Always full if students studying and you had to prepare the first batch of donuts for the next morning atte same time

I get the sense that she is hoping that her "So" AKA Grandpa has been missing her and that when she returns with her Pay-Pal card and birth cert, he will fall at her feet and beg forgiveness. What she is not facing, is that Chad has been scurrying around Grandpa's section 8 digs cleaning and decorating. Further, Chad has been satisfying Grandpa's sexual needs in ways that would never occur to her. She is truly on a fools errand.
I hope she will be able to post at the DUmp after she burns her bridges in Joplin, returns to AZ and faces poverty, homelessness, and rejection from a man twice her age. Forcing your "So" of ten years to turn queer can't be the best thing for an already fragile ego.

3. Unfortuantely whe I checked Missouri Labor Laws:
http://labor.mo.gov/DLS/General/breaks.asp
Missouri law does not require employers to provide employees a break of any kind, including a lunch hour. These provisions are either left up to the discretion of the employer, can be agreed upon by the employer and employee, or may be addressed by company policy or contract.
Boy that sucks!

7. Yes they do.
It makes me sad how little people know there rights and the laws.
So many are so scared that if the demand their rights and demand the job to follow the law that they will lose their job. They just allow the Corps to use them because they are scared.
And people have no idea what Unions really are and what they really offer. People might think they are making more with out the Union and they are ready to believe what they have been told. No one is doing the homework for themselves.
mzteris (16,064 posts) Sun Sep 1, 2013, 12:14 PM
16. um Overtime?
Overtime Pay – Employers must pay at least one and one-half times the employee’s regular rate of pay once overtime pay is in effect. Overtime pay begins once an employee works more than 40 hours in a work week rather than more than 8 hours in a work day. State and federal law does not allow employees to voluntarily waive their rights to overtime pay and accept straight time instead. Any employer that asks an employee to do so violates the law and employees should file a wage complaint.
Though, they're probably under the 40 hour mark. Hell, not only quite. MOVE!
Archaic.

13. From Fed DOL website:
http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/workhours/breaks.htm
Federal law does not require lunch or coffee breaks. However, when employers do offer short breaks (usually lasting about 5 to 20 minutes), federal law considers the breaks as compensable work hours that would be included in the sum of hours worked during the work week and considered in determining if overtime was worked. Unauthorized extensions of authorized work breaks need not be counted as hours worked when the employer has expressly and unambiguously communicated to the employee that the authorized break may only last for a specific length of time, that any extension of the break is contrary to the employer's rules, and any extension of the break will be punished.
From State of Oklahoma:
http://www.ok.gov/odol/documents/WHFAQ.pdf
2. Are breaks and lunch periods mandatory?
Neither federal nor state law require employers to provide breaks to employees age 16 or older. Mandatory break
laws only apply to children under the age of 16. Breaks and lunch periods are considered benefits and remain at
the discretion of the employer.
Lady Freedom Returns (5,847 posts) Sun Sep 1, 2013, 12:26 PM
20. OK no. But the Labor poster they have hanging in the office for the State of MO.
Does say that they are to give so much time for breaks and for lunch when the day is 8 hours or more.
They have it hanging n the office and they don't follow it.
You see, as I found out as a store manager once a upon a time, State Law says we have to have the Laws posted in the work place where all can see them.
avebury (3,789 posts) Sun Sep 1, 2013, 12:31 PM
21. From Missouri DOL

10. I did not realize it differed from state to state. I thought federal law dictated it - 40 hours, breaks, lunch hour, etc.
I'm truly shocked. These employers are the same ones who would have had slaves in the "good ol' days."
If it is the law, I don't see how it would do any good for LadyLiberty to report them. According to their law, they are not doing anything "wrong."
The whole thing is sickening.

5. MO's labor laws are medieval.
They don't require employers to give employers any breaks at all. http://labor.mo.gov/DLS/General/breaks.asp
If Missouri's labor laws are "medieval," there's labor laws in corrupt blue states that are absolutely paleolithic.
mockmonkey (1,783 posts) Sun Sep 1, 2013, 12:05 PM
14. Neither do the US Labor laws
Bona fide meal periods (typically lasting at least 30 minutes), serve a different purpose than coffee or snack breaks and, thus, are not work time and are not compensable.

mzteris (16,064 posts) Sun Sep 1, 2013, 11:55 AM
6. ridiculous
At will doesn't mean they don't have to abide by labor laws! What they are doing is illegal.
And you said you handed in your notice anyway. So you have nothing to lose, but you may help others from being mistreated. Heck, you could possibly get the back pay due you.
Unions are why labor laws changed in this country in the first place. It's why there are 40 hour work weeks and overtime pay and enforced breaks. The end of child labor and sweatshop conditions. (Okay, not the end, the mf'ers still exist, but they're illegal.) There are now safety laws and minimum wage laws (such as it is at least it's more than some aholes would pay unless they are MADE to).
You have a duty to yourself and others to report illegal activity.
^^^the primitive doesn't seem to grasp the meaning of "illegal."

Hey, DUmmies, I make more than my union counterparts, have better health coverage, more flexibility in assignment and tasks, and a much better relationship with management without having someone else negotiate my worth. The added bonus? Nobody forcibly takes money from me to give to shithead democrats.

Using the restroom shouldn't take more than a minute or two. Surely a quick glance out the window would be enough to determine that no customers were imminent when one needed to go. I work 12.5 hour night shifts, and if a nurse has time in her schedule to eat then surely a convenience store clerk can find a slow time to have a quick bite. I can understand that not knowing about your schedule in advance can be frustrating, but your manager has limited control over the actions of other employees. Have you considered that one of your coworkers may have called in sick leaving him short staffed, leading him to extend your shift to guarantee coverage?
I've been called an hour before work to be put on standby, with the knowledge that work could call at anytime that night and I would be expected at work within an hour, but that if I didn't get called in then my paycheck would be short 12 hours of pay. I have also been called with requests to come in 4 hours early to work (16 hour shifts are exhausting), or to come in on a scheduled day off.

Using the restroom shouldn't take more than a minute or two. Surely a quick glance out the window would be enough to determine that no customers were imminent when one needed to go.
Seriously? A woman whose big plan is to 'shelter hop' in a few weeks talks about people not doing their homework and knowing the important things in life. What a :loser:

18. He just pointed to the Labor law poster and and I was told by the other woman when I got working that I better wear a pad and use super tampons. As for bathroom break we are to limit them as much as possible.
Since I would be working alone at night I am to lock the register and hurry. Do not let the boss learn that a customer came in and had to wait for me to finish.
BULLSHIT! As a young adult I worked a few convenience stores while going to school(btw that was after I was misplaced by one of the more major hurricanes in the last couple of decades so stop using the Joplin tornado as an excuse--by 2 years after Andrew I was a registered broker, not 'shelter hopping'or moving back with a relative for being a dumbass and I dumped the cheating baggage I was with at the time, not the other way around). Anyway, I digress...We were to lock the DOOR, not the register--the DOOR! so that the store was safe and we had time to take a bathroom break without a concern of a customer waiting or being robbed blind--I never knew a boss who did not know the realities of a convenience store who told the employee tough shit--even the customers, who were regulars mostly, knew if the door was locked, someone had to use the restroom and were always patient. Something tells me given how incompetent she was at her job, she probably didn't listen carefully except to the sarcasm every employee throws out to one another about work. Her family should be ashamed for raising someone so useless.

Are there not enough nurses?
It depends on our patient load, sometimes we have too many nurses scheduled for a shift, sometimes not enough. We've had several nurses lately find day shift jobs with better hours, which leaves us a bit short.

Oh please, next thing you will be telling us is that you can read cursive too. :hyper:
Yeah.
I know all them dirty words.

Actually, considering some of the communication majors I've known, that looks about right :whistling:
And you can get an idea of what she's saying so that proves she wasn't and education major. :hyper:

This has got to be the worst resume I've ever seen, and that's saying something. I know AD may or may not be telling the truth here again, but what she's claiming is that she worked at this convienent store job for a little over a week, then gave notice, and now she's thinking of reporting the store to the MO board of labor? :rotf:
What a big fat ball of trouble, that store needs to fire her ASAP because she's more trouble than she's worth. And I do think she has that fantasy that Dave and her will live happily ever after in the HUD/VASH apartment in Tucson, but that's Dave and Chad if anyone. Both of her sisters work in fast food as managers, maybe they should brief Ambuh on the law there.

She's good at the word salad. Maybe nads lent a hand.

As coach has advised her, Amber would be far better served by staying in Joplin and turning her life over fully to her loving sisters who only want what's best for her, along with also wanting her job and her paycheck.
Here's one of her loving sisters, a fast food professional:

The Hoyt girls have a tradition of turning in employers:
If you value your health, do not eat at the Wendy's at 7th and Maiden Lane in Joplin MO. They are not following health codes. Just yesterday- august 28th- the majority of the female crew were doing pregnancy tests in the lobby...this means cups of their own urine placed on one of the dining tables...afterward they failed to clean that table! On top of that there is a chance that those who have eaten there in the past week may have been exposed to FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE! Becky Cisco, the district manager for that store and others, told the whistle-blower to "Shut Up". IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH AND THAT OF YOUR FAMILY - DON'T EAT THERE!

There it is again. A DUmmie taking their own picture in the mirror. :lmao:
Why do they do that?
Do other people with cameras say "no"? Can't blame them. :-)

At least it's not a nude shot to be used for sexting. She couldn't get her boobiez in the shot after they dropped a foot. She would need to back up 10 feet.
