One of the smartest moves our President has ever made!
The President's speech just now was a brilliant political move. He not only advanced his agenda to attack the Assad regime, he also gave himself an out, should he choose to use it, by including the Congress in his decision to strike. If the Republican House votes not to approve an attack, our President can then, should he choose to do so, cancel his decision and announce he is bowing to the will of the people as represented by their elected representatives. He has given himself an exit from the corner he painted himself into.
I do not agree with the President's decision to attack Syria, and I do not know how the House and Senate will vote, but I can only admire the deft manner in which he handled one of his most important speeches. That is the man I voted for. He was brilliant today.
Yep. Caving is brilliant.

25. Paintbrush
I agree. He gave the paint brush to congress and left himself a clear spot to walk right out of that corner. He now has cover for whatever happens. No go -- congress decided; a go ahead -- congress decided. Members of congress now hold the responsibility in their teeny, tiny hands.
(sings) I got the whole world, in teeny, tiny hands.

30. Not only that...but he screwed the Republicans. They vote no...they face the wrath of AIPAC. nt
Uh oh. Lobbyists might get...mad.

35. Relief!
What a relief! I was so worried. If he had gone ahead with a unilateral strike, I would have had to start looking for a new political party.
Now the Congress will own the consequences. I hope that they will think twice.

48. It was pure genius.
Whichever way Congress votes, the Republicans have just lost their best talking point for the 2014 elections.
I feel so helpless before the magnificent genius of Obama.

53. One of the smartest moves? He had to cover his ass, that's all.
I think that, like David Cameron, Obama assumed there'd be all kinds of support for a military strike on Syria. When that support didn't materialize, he realized he'd have to ease up on the throttle.
I'll give Obama credit for realizing that he was on thin ice and backing up a bit, but he put himself there in the first place with all his stupid and irresponsible bluster about "the Assad regime must go" and "red lines".
I certainly hope that Congress gives him a resounding "No!"
Hey, tossing things to congress is a great idea. How about letting congress vote on a certain pipeline from Canada?

Scarletwoman has a brief moment of lucid thought. Probably won't last long.

The DUmp is giddy over the jug-eared Kenyan's incomprehensible, nearly non-existent, absolutely incompetent foreign policy, and his attempt to weasel around it.
Blind support for radical muzzie fundamentalism is his only consistent position.

Dear Leader draws a line in the sand, Syria calls his bluff, and he has to get Congress to pull his foot out of his stupid mouth. To simpleminded liberals (pardon the redundancy), this is brilliant diplomacy.
Never mind to the rest of the world he looks weak, indecisive, and out of control. Of course he is, so it's hard for him to hide it.
And if you stupid libs believe that other Americans don't know that he jumped blindly into a hole and is now trying in vain to dig himself out, then you're only fooling yourself, which is pretty much you whole MO.
.

Well DUmmies, Bush did go to the UN and congress before a single shot was fired. You didn't seem to think he was brilliant.
-
How many phone calls to Bill Ayers did it take to get the brilliant idea through Obama's thick skull......after flopping his big ears out of the way.
-
So they are impressed that a guy who, since his first presidential election, has basically worked at covering ass INSTEAD of working at being president is once again covering his ass.
They must all be eating 'crumbs' off of the floor.

Yup, Obumbler is a regular Foreign Diplomacy Wizard who got that way whizzing on his own feet. We've gone from neocon to neophyte!!
I see him more as this guy in black face.

What happens if the Republicans end up branded as the Anti-War party, and the Democrats are the Chickenhawks who need to enlist themselves or their children if they want to bring war to 'brown people' ?
Actually, nevermind. You'll just instantly rewrite history the way you did with 'the sequester', won't you ?

Remarkable, isn't it?
The Emperor has no clothes, and his followers are his delusional useful idiots. They have yanked a victory out of the mouth of failure, while the world watches and laughs.

Hmm, Syria used chemical weapons?
I seem to remember Israeli Intelligence saying that chemical weapons were being shipped from Iraq into Syria when Bush made the chemical weapons argument.
Just thinking out loud.

What a buffoon. Is he cracking under the pressure of the job or is he just that stupid? How much longer are we going to have to suffer the embarrassment of having this rodeo clown in the White House?
One is a black soul singer known on this side of the Atlantic for little more than a one-off hit in the early 1980s.
The other plots the course of the British economy as Chancellor of the Exchequer and, as far as we know, restricts his singing to the shower.
Still, when you are the leader of the free world, it is easy to get mixed up on small details.
Barack Obama repeatedly referred to George Osborne as ‘Jeffrey’ during G8 meetings this week in an embarrassing blow for the Chancellor.

Three times! What a moron. He's an international laughingstock.

I knew he was doing this. This is why he all of a sudden realized he was "President of a constitutional democracy".
(On a side note Mr.President, we are a republic.)
He has never ever worried about his actions being constitutional. If he wanted military action that bad he would have done it unilaterally and wiped his arse with the constitution.
He is throwing the ball in Congress's hands, specifically the house since he knows the senate will most likely approve. If it fails, it's the house's fault. (I.e the republicans)
He is embarrassing as a domestic president, much less wartime. You can't compare him to JFK, Bush, or even dare I say it FDR. (As much as I abhor him...)
-
First damn time he's looked to Congress to approve anything since he won re-election. Guess even he's smart enough to realize that Kerry's speech sucked and he needed some real ass-cover for whatever the hell he does next.

Tell him no and then see what he does. He's chompin' at the bit to use "his" military.

I have no idea if Obama has ever made a "smart" move or not but his "best" move will be out of the White House.

He will claim he has authority to send drones in at any time, anywhere to combat terrorism. And he will use his actions in Pok-EE-Ston as a precedent.

Don't forget gun control.

Long-range drones are a toy that will be fun as long as we aren't using them on anyone who has both a real air force and a real problem with us flying them into their airspace. Most of the places we operate them, either the targets have no effective countermeasures or the government nominally in power that despite any public bluster privately agrees to let us do it in order to eliminate people they find as annoying as we find threatening. Once real air defense or counterair takes an interest in them, they have about the life expectancy of a V1 with four Typhoons on its ass.
-
We really do not have any idea who is running our country at this point. It is hard to believe that Obama has any more idea of what is going on then Me and my Cat.
Obama reminds me of a teenage male whose father never properly trained him in the family business. The father dies and he takes over the business not knowing in any way how it works.
Crises comes and the male has no idea of how it happened or what to do about it. So as most juveniles he heads out to play sports and delegates the problem to some old friend or family member willing to take on the problem, no skin off their teeth if the kid gets sandbagged.
How in just a few years did we go from the most respected and feared country in the world to become a laughing stock around the globe ??
In order to insure his life, his second in Command, is a blithering idiot, good planning, all when we were not looking. The Challenger to his position an older man with history behind him is just as much an idiot to accept a unknown female running mate with the same if less qualifications as the Male has.
Now we both Liberal and conservative stand back and ask WTF happened. Who is the men behind the curtain ?????

I am sure that Iran has also communicated to Syria how easy it is to bring down the drones without an Air Force, and also how much fun it is denying the very polite request from the current White hut occupier to ship them back.

So. Wait. Vesta...You're saying Obama is as clueless as you?

Don't forget gun control.
Well, I was talking about foreign policy, but you're right.
Of course, the only gun control he supports is common sense gun control.
