Truthout needs our help to stay afloat
This is a call for help.
Truthout is in danger of not meeting their budget goal, which is critical. They need to raise $17,000 more by the end of the day to continue bringing transformative ideas and in-depth reporting. They have been primarily funded by readers (many DUers) for 11 years.
Support the writers, editors and others who make Truthout's work possible. Any amount will have an immediate impact: Can you make a tax-deductible donation today?
http://truth-out.org/members/donate
I have been reading Truthout since it started as have many DUers. DUer Will Pitt is a regular contributor. This publication has provided us with some of the more reliable reporting over the years. As we stand at the brink of another war much like we did 11 years ago, Truthout stands with us ready to report and expose what the MSM ignores or lies about. They need our support now more than ever. And I think we need them.

This publication has provided us with some of the more reliable reporting over the years.
I expect a DUmmy to chastise this poster for not using that stupid "sarcasm" thing.
Interesting. Drunken, unemployable Will Pitt had to give up his hovel in high-rent Boston and move his tattooed bride and child into cheaper digs way up in the syrup country, and "truthout" claims to be going broke.
Both the hopeless, crawling alcoholic Will Pitt and the "truthout" blog site depend for their financial lives on DUmmy Raven, Pitt's mother, who recently wallduded herself out of a cushy gig in Rindge, New Hampshire.
Maybe DUmmy Raven is looking at unnecessary drains on the Pitt family funds. The Pitt family has hardly earned a dime since its patriarch went to his reward nearly a half century ago.
They thought they were like Kennedys, but they were far from it. A couple generations of deadbeats, plus the effect of their messiah's economy, may have seriously drained the stash.
-
A few years ago and it was just $10 away from......something or other. Inflation under Obama has sure increased the cost of spreading shit. I suggest buying a used horse drawn manure spreader.
-
17 grand is quite a chunk of change! Pretty tall order for a bunch of destitute DUmmies. Is Will Pitt's "salary" part of that?
Truthout will always remind me of that article (it was posted in mind numbing stupidity), from a lunatic who said "Women aren't the only ones who get abortions, men get them too, so it's their issue as well." She meant, among other things, transgendered men-to-women. I don't think you get all the plumbing required to make a baby, just because you chop your dick off.
Stupidest thing I've ever read.
-
Getting the truth out needn't be expensive, from either perspective.
-
...Truthout stands with us ready to report and expose what the MSM ignores or lies about...
...As long as it furthers the "Progressive" agenda and they can find someone besides Obozo himself to blame for his grosser mistakes, preferably a Republican, that is...
-
In two hours, five posters said "done." This was out of 13 responses, some of which could only afford a K&R. One DUmmy, apropos of nothing, said:

As of just a minute ago, there were twelve.
Cool, only $16,992.50 to go. (One of them felt froggy, and sent an entire dollar.)
-
What they really need to is make a threat,
"Give us $17,000.00 in donations or we will hire Nads as our ace reporter, and quote her stories all over DU! We're serious...We will pay her twice...heck 10 times what she is making now.
and bikini pics, Nads will be our Page 3 Girl....we'll post them in every DU thread!"

Just further proof of the adage, "From sandals to sandals in three generations."

Tell ya what, Will--I'll drop a couple of shekels in the pot if you promise to leave NH with your brood, your mother, et al, and promise never to cross the border into the state again.

I'm still a little stunned at the $17,000 required. What is all that money needed for? Salaries? Ask the Huffpo writers about that.
Will, you've been reduced to internet begging for your very subsistence. You're a father now. Act like a man. Worthless POS.

Others may feel differently, though TO's difficulties may reflect a broader opinion than just mine.

20. I know a person with an ax to grind when I see one
Because I don't see you criticizing the NYT, WP, WSJ, Fox News, or any of the many others for lying through their teeth for years. No, you jump on this thread to criticize one reporter who inaccurately reported something years ago like you think you have earned a Pulitzer Prize for your hard hitting investigative journalism.
Of course, you do not report on the ongoing articles from Truthout concerning BP and the Gulf, Afghanistan, Wikileaks, Obama's whole term because you haven't read them, busy as you are being fixated on whether or not some reporter once predicted Rove's imminent indictment. While it didn't happen, it sure should have, but it is now 2013. No one blames anyone at Truthout because Rove isn't in jail. Even if one of their reporters once felt certain he would be.
Don't you feel a lot like yesterday's news?

23. I suspect you see what you are willing to acknowledge
I have no interest in supporting TO. I don't like being presented with appeals to support Truthout.
It's been that way for quite some time. Drunks, drug users and editors who couldn't filter out the influences of both left me disaffected. It's been that way for quite sometime.
This one just happened to make through the network of TO related entries on my ignore list

Hell, if $17,000 would get the truth, the absolute truth and nothing but the truth out.....I'd dip into savings and pay the whole bill myself. If billions of dollars spent every year on news reporting doesn't get the truth out, I certainly don't see $17,000 doing it.
-
Well, the fund-raiser started about noon on Thursday.
There's about three more hours to go.
Does one suppose they raised the $17,000?
-
Now there are fourteen that have ponied up.
Only $16,991.50 to go. Yay!!! :yahoo:
You can do it, DUmmies. :loser:
How long before they loudly proclaim they reached their goal. :whatever:
Hardly enough to buy a plate of mini-tacos.

I would run off to live in a cave if the truth came out. We cannot handle the truth, it is beyond our comprehension to be given the truth-----then how do we know something is the truth, and not something a spin Doctor put on things.
Because you are an eye wittiness to something does not mean the truth, it simply means what you as an individual interpret the scene according to your expectations.

But then again, none of those other things are asking for $17,000 in donations.

It's been ages since I saw that. Used to be little ads in magazines that would say, "For Info, send SASE". No one today has heard of a "SASE".
