Night two of night shift training is tonight.
After all I did on Sunday, I have no idea how this will work. I am a College Graduate, a Newsroom Veteran, and no stranger to the retail world.
But working a Convenient store is a whole other animal! And to think I will be working it alone as of the first...
Man, those that do this for years and love what they do have nerves of steel and are way braver than one would guess you would ever need to be for a job like that!
I have new respect for the "Lowly" Convenient Store Clerk!!!!!!!
Thanks for the laugh of the day.

You'd think a DUmmy who works in a convenience store would know it's not a "convenient store".

As a college graduate you should be smart enough to know that you're working at a Convenience Store NOT a convenient store. DUMMY!

I hear there is a high robbery rate during the late shift. They use guns and stuff...

A "No Weapons Allowed" sign on the door should prevent any armed robberies.
-
I'm beginning to suspect DUmmy Lady Freedom Returns is just mounting a DOTY campaign, but what the hell.
This gig at the "convenient store" and the supposed plan to move to Arizona are going to generate some great bouncy tales over the next few months.
The storyline she's beginning to develop is as good as when DUmmy Horse with no Brain started describing her slutty daughter's life.
Let's hope this one isn't dropped in midstream the way the slutty daughter was.
-
Maybe it is a "convenient store". Convenient to the Obamason's in the hood and lazyass robbers that don't want to walk to far to commit a crime.

Quite a few years ago I worked in an closely related industry and one of the Shell representatives related an attempted robbery story.
The C-Stores in the areas of Houston where you would encounter the 'urban' youths were typically small bulletproof doghouses. After dark the operator would lock himself in the kiosk and do all the transactions through a cash drawer. Some urban youth came up to rob the place one night, pulled a gun and pointed it at the cashier. The cashier went under the counter, pulled out a shotgun a pointed it back at the would be robber. That should have ended it but the cashier foolishly pulled the trigger. Unfortunately he got badly injured by all the pellets flying around inside, but could you imagine the thoughts that went through the other guys head when the cashier pulled the trigger?

Well she could invite the homeless in to protect her. They won't eat a lot.

In the Midwest a lot of convenience stores were called convenient stores due to a chain being called the same.

That is what stood out at me too.

I'm guessing this is all an elaborate scam to extract money from the DUmprats. She has established a wishado-do acct and a Pay Pail acct. and is trying to get some sort of debit card. She is laying the groundwork of cash register shortages, family threatening to force some sort of legal hold on her (???? for a couple weeks rent???). She mentioned somewhere that she might need some more help from her best friends at the DUmp.
-
"a Newsroom Veteran"??? :rotf:
Hey DUmmie, you had Wynona Ryder's job in Reality Bites and you even managed to eff THAT up!
-
AMBER!?!? What kind of name is Amber?
It must be her shotgirl name.

Hey, I did radio all through college and a little after! :-)

A convenient store is the next generation of a convenience store. They are passe to any pearl clutchers anyway. The feature that represents the evolution of the more modern convenient store is the landscaping layout around the property includes extensive shrubbery and bushes suitable for lurking within.

I tended to do the Cindy Brady freeze any time a camera was pointed at me. :lmao: I preferred to be behind the camera or in the control room.

She managed to cash her first paycheck! 35 years old, she must be so proud.

Got my first pay check from the job yesterday, cashed it today.
And boy was I jumped on!
$160 right off the top and they are trying to get me to give more!
I did pick up some things I do need. That way they can't charge me for them. The store price is way cheaper!
I sent for a PayPal MasterCard prepaid debit card. It is to be to me in 5-10 days.
I will close my DFS case here in MO via phone when I get to AZ so they will send me the paperwork that way I have proff of residentce again for other things.
Boy! This is a lot of HAPPY work! I AM GOING HOME!!

Aw, horseshit. You can go to WalMart and buy a Bluebird card for $3 right there. Paypal. Jeez.
And no, the dipshit didn't fork over half her check. Not. Even. CLOSE. Assuming she made $8/hr for a 40-hour week, and going to www.paycheckcity.com, do a little number crunching, and before medical/dental/etc., she'd be looking at taking home about $256.45 a week, for a witholding of $63.55/week. Not $160.
Broken down, she's looking at the following deductions:
Federal $33.07
SS $19.84
Medicare $4.64
MO state tax $6.00
Then consider at the end of the year she'll be getting all her federal back, plus about $4-5K on top of that thanks to EIC. Yeah, real broke up about it, toots.
Just for the hell of it, I checked the figures using my information as a guide. Dead on.

I don't think the Joplin city bicycle is talking about tax withholding.
She previously said that her family wanted to put some kind of hold on her, because she owed them money. I think she's saying that she cashed her check, and her family expects her to pay back what she owes them, and to pay her fair share of rent, food, utilities, etc.
I also suspect that's the other reason she's trying to RUNNOFT to Arizona to live in a homeless shelter and draw welfare.
-
What? She's expected to PAY BILLS like the rest of us? She's no longer allowed to be a freeloader?
Why, the NERVE of some people!

LFR, being a college grad, assumes that everyone knows what she's referring to. She thinks on a higher level than most. I took it to mean her sister took the 160 bucks. But then, what do I know?

Okay, let's just assume for sake of discussion that she does a 40-hour week at $8/hr, and takes home that $256.45. Now let's further assume that her family "asks" for $160/week to cover groceries, rent, utilities, etc. That leaves her with $96.45/week to do with as she pleases.
That's more than I have when all the bills are paid, unless I've worked some OT the previous pay period.

I think the sisters quietly made the bus ticket purchase, and are trying to recoup their cost.
They'd be better off and money ahead just to forget about it.
Fold the cards, ladies. Take the loss and consider it money well spent.

I think the sisters are genuinely concerned for their sibling, and want her to do well, but they see she has not the tools or the skills; she's still very immature.
I think the sisters should take her paycheck and dole out what they think she needs, as she obviously has some wildly irrational notions about what she needs.
I think she'd be in good hands if her loving caring sisters micro-managed her life until she grows up.

Assuming she made $8/hr for a 40-hour week
Well, she may make $8 an hour. Among the tiny segment of democrats who work, that's an average wage.
But this assumption overlooks the the fact that the democrat messiah has introduced his people to the new 29-hours-per-week standard.
It'll be interesting to see if that loss of income among democrats causes a decline in the price of weed.

8 dollars per hour plus what she can steal. That may or not be up to 70 dollars now.

Embezzle, borrow, loan, and pawn. All euphemisms for "steal", but I am hoping someone will appreciate my expounding.

All of these terms are inherently racist. My sources tell me that euphemism may also be racist, so tread lightly there. Five more guaranteed words (possibly six) to add to your list of banned, racist terms from just one sentence is a pretty nice haul. Well done !

Since I am a cracka-ass-honkey, I do have a God-given talent for being extremely racist. So, I'm working hard to become the racist equivalent of a 'white hat' hacker.
Of course ,white hat is an extremely racist description - so it fits.

I was in the Joplin Tornado of 2011. My Significant Other and I were having rough times at that point as it was. He was getting sick at the time and was told the V.A in Tucson would be a good place to go for him to get better. However things started to encroach into our relationship. He decided that after 10 years I was not enough for him. I ended up back in Joplin Mo.
I cannot stay here due to old family grievances. We never got along and they are not helping me. As of Sept. 7, I will have worked off all my debt to them at this point and will be ready to go home to Tucson.
My dream at this point is to get back to Tucson (Oct. 5th that is going to happen), learn to drive, get back behind a studio camera, and get a nice Studio Apartment. But while I am trying to get this going, I just need some money to get food, other basics, and maybe a Motel room for a night since I will arrive on a Sunday morning and the offices I need are closed. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!
