From time to time there is talk about folks being in Vegas or a Vegas meet up.....
I have two upcoming five day stays in Vegas.
In July, still unsure of the exact dates....I should know next week.
-
I am making the list of resturants that I want to try out.
Any suggestions?
Where is that place with the coffee encrusted filet?
I am going to try and stick to a $200 a day budget.
-
Try some of the restaurants in the Bellagio. When my wife and I walked through it they looked very good, but not cheap. Also try Caesers buffet, it's supposed to be the bomb.

Well if I can have dinner for one, less then $40...I will still check it out.....oh the joys of being single without kids!
I highly recommend this lifestyle to everyone.

Brunch at the Bellagio, while not cheap...is definetly the best I've had....but this was about 12 years ago.

That is two votes for Bellagio!

Las Vegas has about a dozen Dairy Queens. I don't think they have a Waffle House, but there are plenty of IHOPS.

My mom went to IHOP in Vegas on her birthday, that is where she wanted to go!
They drove an hour to get there (her and friends)

Actually I think I could dine all week on In n Out Burgers.
But the last time I ate there, I found out how quicklythey could go In n Out...good thing I was still at the hotel and not on the plane.
-
The first trip starts this Sunday.......I will be in the North Vegas Area....still trying to figure out what hotel, but I am told this is close to the Red Rock Casino..I will be there either thru July 5th or until July 12th....

Gallaghers (sp?) in New York New York. Best steak I've ever had. New York strip, $38.00. The entire menu is ala-carte, so the $38 was for the steak alone. Would have been waaaay outta my league if not for the voucher I had. :-)
Dinner buffet at Luxor was quite good and reasonable. Same for the breakfast buffet at MGM.

I thought you were referring to the comedian who smashes watermellons. :p
I saw him at TPAC. He was past his prime.

The best steak I've ever had was at Nick & Sam's in Dallas. It was also an a la cart like that. I don't remember the price, I wasn't paying anyways. :-)

This thread is making me hungry and I am taking notes.
Screw it...I think I will just stay over the 4th of July Weekend....should be some great fireworks and other things going on....I decided to stay at the Suncoast Casino & Hotel....their website says they are sold out (of course they also said, 30% rooms, so maybe just the discounted rooms were sold out....not sure....but according to Hotels.com not only did it take my reservation, it also took my money....
I will make a phone call later and see....
The rooms are 500 sq feet...I will have to stay out of the Casino for this trip....(well maybe just a few hours :lmao:)
http://www.suncoastcasino.com/

This is the best place to get a burger www.culvers.com
I really need to open one.

The food has been awesome. The key lime pie today at lunch was a little tart, so I had to wash it down with the bitterness of pecan pie....it worked out great. I paired it with a diet Pepsi!
I have been treated with excellent customer service...just a great bunch of people here.
The view from the glass wall in my suite is breathtaking.

The best Buffet is at the Rio, but it was $30 a head when I was there.
Mr Mannn's You are NOT going to win guide to slots:
Other people win big at slots but not me. So I have this system. I budget money to lose. When that is gone, I do free stuff for the rest of the day. When I would drive in from Phoenix, I would have just $60 to lose, and it was enough.
--the key to my system is to gamble with THEIR money and not yours!
1) go to the nickel and penny slots. Play the max (so it really quarter and dimes).
-->always play the max.
Put in your twenty into the machine. The machine will "tease" you with small wins. Typically 40-60 dollars. CASH OUT. You are NOT on a roll, there is NO jackpot in your future. If you make twice what you put in, cash out.
2) Lets say you win $60. Fine put the twenty back in your "to lose" pocket. You are not down any thing at this point. Now go to the dollar slots. Every credit you win is a dollar. Put in $40 dollars. Wait for the "tease." A typical tease is $80-$90 bucks.
CASH OUT. You are NOT on a roll, you are NOT going to hit a jack pot.
Put the money in your winning pocket, and forget about it.
3) what if you lose the $40 bucks? Its their money, not yous, no big deal.
4) Go back to the nickel and penny slots, and get some more money to gamble with.
Rinse and repeat.
In three hours I won $360 dollars and still had my $60 to lose!
PS, and see a show while you are there!

I agree with alot of that.
Betting max on some of the newer video "penny" machines could be up to $6.00 a pull....so you have to be very careful and do the math....I can usually gamble for hours on my first hundred dollar bill...if I am paying attention, many times I actually leave with a couple hundred bucks...if I am tired and lazy, I quickly start to give it back to them....but that is why they call it gambling. :-)
I am not staying on the strip, but plan to visit it this weekend. I am in the nice part of town. :-)
-

I would be happy just to see a movie, the town I live in does not have a theatre and this resort has 16 screens.
During the week I don't have much time as this is a "business trip" But I am the one paying the bill(s)...it just made things easier on me and I am avoiding a long, hot commute. I am getting paid for my time.

Change of plans......three day weekend.
My last long weekend this year was about 150 days. :rotf:
-
I have been to Vegas twice and had a blast each time. The second time was better then the first because of the fact that after spending 30 days in the California Desert,3 hours in a hot tub felt like Heaven. I went to a club that is for adults only and going to it was cheaper then trying to get a room for only 10 hours of use.
The first timei went to Vegas I stayed in the Golden Nugget om Fremont street. Thats where alot of the TV shows and movies have been filmed at. My favorite movie there is "Diamonds are Forever" where James Bond takes a red Mustang and drives it up and down Fremont street while being chased by the bad guys.

It would be neat to see the Golden Nugget.
There is so much more here then the "strip" but of course the strip is always fun with tons of cool stuff to see.

Walking by an open bank of slot machines tonight after my "business" in Vegas was done....
Put in a fresh twenty.....a couple minutes later...had won $54......I quickly cashed out....that will pay for a few meals!
Just a couple more days and then I return home....I miss my big non-tourist swimming pool...this one has two shallow ends and is only 4 foot deep in the center....hard to swim and too many kids!
-
The best part of the trip was the drive through Red Rock Canyon on the way home last night.
