Gallup: Unemployment Rate Jumps from 7.7% to 8.9% In 30 Days
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/08/21/Gallup-Unemployment-jumped-from-77-to-89
Outside of the federal government's Bureau of Labor statistics, the Gallup polling organization also tracks the nation's unemployment rate. While the BLS and Gallup findings might not always perfectly align, the trends almost always do and the small statistical differences just haven't been worthy of note. But now Gallup is showing a sizable 30 day jump in the unemployment rate, from 7.7% on July 21 to 8.9% today.
Unemployment rate jumped to 8.9 percent in one month! The true unemployment rate is double of that.

I think I read 30k. But the surprise here is that they always coincide with the government's numbers. Only different by a small amount.
This one could have just been a fluke, but I think they poll every day for 30 days and then get an average.
Didn't the gov't formula change about a month or two ago?

I see homes up for sales here but at reduced prices. Every year the property taxes go up because they claim the homes are worth more --unless you want to sell it.

5 Hardest States To Find Work. Reid and Nancy Should Be Proud! (http://money.msn.com/investing/5-states-where-its-hardest-to-find-work)
NV is #1, CA is #2. I think all of the top five are blue states. Underemployment is up in every state.
Home prices did jump 24% in Las Vegas. But they had previously dropped 50% as compared to 2007. There are a lot of hedge funds buying up homes and turning them into rental property. They are using cash to purchase.

No. 5: Illinois
Underemployment rate: 16.1% (tied-4th highest)
Unemployment rate: 9.0% (7th highest)
Gross domestic product: 1.9% (25th lowest)
Income per capita: $44,815 (16th highest)
Illinois' housing market reveals the poor state of economic health in the state: More than one-quarter of homes with mortgages have negative equity. Between 2007 and 2012, home prices saw a 28.6% decline, worse than only three other states. Jobs in Illinois are faring no better. The unemployment rate is one of the highest in the country. Employment growth was also slower than two-thirds of states in 2012. This month, the Chicago Tribune reported filings with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, which said about 400 workers were told in July they might be laid off.
The latest figure on unemployment in Illinois is 9.2%, and here in my town it's 13.2%.
Yes, I'm happy to have the job that I have, it's probably one of the best in town.

Tennessee is really having it rough!!! It is kind of surprising, considering Nashville, which is supposed to be country music capital...

The people probably don't have the extra money to spend on entertainment.
