A surprise at my granddaughters school cafeteria
We put $25 in her account and it always lasts about a month. She started middle school yesterday and wanted to buy her lunch on the first day. She came home and said lunch is expensive there. I asked how much and she said over 5 dollars. Then she told me she didn't like anything in the regular cafeteria line and bought from the chik-filet franchise IN THE CAFETERIA. She said there is a Ddomino Pizza franchise as well.

This really ticks me off. Junk food from two franchises, both of whom I boycott.

She took a lunch today, and we had a talk about why I boycott them.

"Well, you see, honey, Grandma is a political lunatic."

Anyway, $25 for a month's lunches establishes Grandma's honesty. Unless the kid is on the freeloaders' rate, that's little more than a week of lunches.

7. I understand ala carte is more
I don't understand chik-filet and domino's pizza franchises in the cafeteria.
Was a total shock to me.

Does the First Wookie approve?

9. I agree it sucks. The solution is to get more invovled in your local school system.
Sounds like your school board is run by Freepers.

11. i just realized something else
It completely identifies the poorer families and the kids on free lunch, I doubt chik-filet is available to those children.

5. Public school?
In what county? I'd be very upset if crappy fast food was offered to my kids at school.

13. it's not healthy for kids either
if i were you i would consider organizing other parents to oppose them selling this.

Lunatics are always well-received at schools in civilized areas, aren't they?

So not only are the children not eating the Queen Michell the Fat Assed's dictated meals they are paying ten times more for them. I went to high school in late 70s and my lunches cost (when I didn't brown bag) around 70 cents. I guess school food is the only thing that there is disinflation on.

The more I see of what people's, that have never done anything in real life, ideas the more I think they should not be allowed near matches or the hot water valve.

Oh and ZERO bongs.

Yes, Chik Fila (sp?) is available to the poor kids as well. They may not be able to afford it but I assure you it is offered to all the kids.

Now DUmmie, can you tell me how that is different than real life?  There are a few restaurants I can name off the top of my head that a lot of my personal friends have never eaten at. Either because they didn't want to throw down the bucks or they couldn't afford to throw down the bucks.

You wanna know something else?  There are a lot if pricey restaurants I can't afford or don't see the value in so ... I don't eat there.

More?  I can't afford a Lamborghini!

Is it fair?  Yeah.

So ****ing what? I kinda noticed there were kids with families better off than mine, oh, roughly around first grade or so. They had better clothes and their parents brought them to school in nicer cars and they talked about doing things and going places I never could. Is this some kind of mystery that has to be hidden from children? I think it's a great motivator, if you have a family that encourages you to succeed. DUmmy children, those who survive past gestation without the abortionist's scissors cutting them up, are taught to resent success and glorify being a parasite.

**** you!!!

If I had my way the only thing those people would get is 5 pound blocks of cheese, and bags of rice and beans.  Want meat and fast food GET A ****ING JOB AND PAY FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I grew up dirt poor and made myself a success because of the shame. These people know nothing of the very poor or the very successful.

From grades 1-8 I wore "Gemco Jeans."  The middle-class+ kids wore Levis.  The day I finally bought a pair of Levis from my summer job, I spent the whole day (OK, the whole semester) trying to be "casual" about finally wearing the cool clothes.

It was hell.  And that hell taught me values that serve me well to this day.  I don't cry for that child 40 years ago.  I applaud him for his stamina.

Chik-Filet. Only Young Republicans are allowed to eat there, right?

My high school kids have the option of $2.00 lunches from the regular lunch lines or the $5.00 lunch which are things like chicken strips, chik-fil-a...etc. I give them so much per week. If they spend it all in the 5.00 line then they go hungry until I put more money in their lunch accts.

That's Moo-Cow Michelle's doing.  I just checked, and those loathesome vegetarian "burgers" that they're trying to foist upon the kids (and promptly throwing it all away), are wholesaling at about $1.50 per patty.  That's just for the inedible disk.  Add in the other stuff + labor and energy and you've got unaffordable.

Yes! There was a little mom-and-pop grocery near our school where, for the seventy-five cents most kids carried for lunch, they could get a coke, a homemade baloney or PBJ sandwich, and a pack of smokes. The place was mobbed every schoolday.

Here in red state hell, if the taxpayers aren't buying his lunch, a kid pays $2.75 for lunch, but everything else is ala carte, with $.50 water, $.50 milk, $.60 chips, $.75 ice cream, etc., etc. And they don't even offer smokes.

For that comment alone, I hope the school puts in a Ruth's Chris and a P.F. Chang's.

I did too. They were on reduced or free lunch and looked a lot like Tray'von.

A couple schools were just eliminating off campus lunch after I graduated from High School. They actually had to expand the cafeteria at one school because it did not have enough room!
