US government requests Bradley Manning be sentenced to 60 years
"The US government has urged a military judge to sentence Bradley Manning to 60 years in prison, arguing that the solider, who leaked a huge collection of classified documents to WikiLeaks, "deserves to spend the majority of his remaining life" in custody.
The request was made by military lawyers on Monday, in the final stages of the soldier's court martial for leaking hundreds of thousands documents to the anti-secrecy website. The judge, Colonel Denise Lind, said she will start deliberations at 9am on Tuesday
Manning was found guilty last month of 20 counts, seven under the Espionage Act, but acquitted of the most serious charge of aiding the enemy. "

1. I hope Manning is pardoned by Obama.
Although I won't hold my breath.
Why not? He hasn't damaged the country's defense as much as the jug-eared muslim.

3. Commute the sentence...
He's served undue torture and confinement worthy of 60 years. At least we can say that.
He should stand beside Snowden, in front of a firing squad.

8. He should be sentenced to time already served and given a general discharge, followed
by a Presidential Medal of Freedom and Nobel Peace Prize.
I'm not holding my breath on either of the latter two, though.

10. If they do give him 60
future whistle-blowers will not go easily. More than likely it will be violent. We truly live in modern day Nazi Germany.

Bradley Manning, whistle-blower indeed.

Well, Bradley/Breanna was blowing something . . .

I have a length of rope I will give to hang that traitor bastard. :bird:

The DUmpmonkeys still won't admit that Manning betrayed the GBLT movement.
At the court-martial, Manning introduced pictures of himself in drag as evidence that he is severely mentally ill, and not culpable for his actions.

Severely mentally ill, but culpable for his actions.
The GBLT DUmmies, who screech at every imagined slight, are strangely silent.

I still think it's hilarious that the DUmmies thought that picture up there ^^^ would spark a huge tsunami of sympathetic support for Brianna, causing a massive painful backlash against his govt tormentors, with the populace demanding his immediate release.
:rotf:
I must say that wig appears to be of very high quality. Too much eye makeup though.

Hey Dumbasses, 60 years for that gutless fairy Manning is less than he should get. He should be getting a last meal, a blindfold and a cigarette before being executed by firing squad for treason.

But you will hold your breath for the "sentenced to time already served and given a general discharge" part? Good. Looking forward to your demise.

So being a cross-dressing fag is severe mental illness? Not since the homophiles in academia got hold of DSM, it isn't. I'm surprised the gay mafia on DU didn't get their panties in a bunch and throw a mega-hissy over that.

There isn't parole in military confinement (Though a few years down the road their discharges eventually get finalized and they technically become Federal prisoners), but there is both 'Good time' and clemency. For sentences over 10 years, good time (Time off for good behavior) is a third of the total sentence, so 33 years in the can on a 50 year adjudicated sentence (It's a very useful tool for the prison, if a prisoner acts up they go through a little admin hearing known as a 'Review and adjustment board' that can take away pieces of their good time, effectively lengthening the sentence without having to screw around with misdemeanor trials in prison). Clemency requests are very common, asking for a reduction of sentence (Granting them not so much, but in a case like this, much would depend on who was President and the political climate many years from now).

This is scary, I agree with a DUmmy. It is awful that a traitor might get such a lenient sentence - a mere 60 years, there's a chance he'll live that long and get to die at liberty.

Traitors are hanged. Deserters are shot.

Now that Manning is taken care of, I'd like to see Assange hunted down and made to pay for his crimes.

The moment he steps out of the Embassy he's getting shipped to Sweden to be tried for rape.

Bradley Manning, Brianna Manning, or whover should be hanged for treason.

You act as though sentences should be handed down to criminals whose criminality is determined by a court...

Either way is fine by me as long as the results are the same.

So as long as someone is gay and a hard core left leaning liberal it's ok to betray your country and the service that you swore to give x number of years to and the Constitution as well? If your not then off with your head and everyone can party like it's 1999.

Manning joined the Army to spend his life in a uniform, travel to exotic places, and suck lots of dick.
Looks like he's getting his wish.... if you consider Leavenworth, KS "exotic".

It doesn't apply to this case since s-he is one of our own people, however the 8th Amendment does prohibit 'cruel and unusual punishment,' and that would certainly apply to such a horrifically crunchy fate.
