New Detroit splash park opens, minus the water

DETROIT (WJBK) - The city of Detroit was hoping to make a big splash with the grand opening of a new splash park. But, to do that - you need water. Thankfully, Detroit firefighters were there to provide it after a water main break.
They served up free ice cold bottled water and delicious grilled hot dogs. The T-shirts looked good reading "Palmer Park Splash Park" and the ribbon cutting went well. Just one little glitch at the new park, there was no water! A water main break dried up the splash park for its grand opening!
"We had a mishap with a water main that broke," explained Detroit Mayor Dave Bing. "We have a water system that's 100 years old so those things happen."
What an epic fail!!!!!!! :mental: :lmao:

:doh: That's just wrong. But, then the whole place is a "fail" in my book.
I used to bicycle to Palmer Park when I was a little urchin in the 60s. It wasn't safe even back then. I'd no more let a kid go there...
My dad was a cop and he used to tell a great story from there. Since I'm in a nostalgic mood, I'll type it out.
He and a partner got a call that there was a peeper hanging near the restrooms who had also approached kids. They go to check it out, see a kid come out and head down a path through the woods. They kind of split up to the sides of the trail and follow along. Dad hears his partner yelling for help, runs to him, and finds him wrestling with a naked guy. They get the perv cuffed and his partner tells my dad that as he was walking along he heard a "Pssst." The cop turns and there's this dude standing in some statuesque pose who says to him, "I'm a Greek god!" And then the fight started. :rofl:
