NATIONAL STRIKE: August 29
from my email ...
This is huge – and it couldn't come at a more important time. Thousands of fast food and other low-wage workers are going on, and calling for, a national strike on August 29.
See why, and help us spread the word about the strike right now:
Workers are on strike!
The more of us who go on strike, the louder our message will be that it's not right for companies making billions of dollars to pay us pennies. The most effective thing you can do right now is help us be LOUD – check out our video and share it far and wide after you have.
We'll be in touch with what's next,

4. That's fantastic. I have a feeling our Seattle fast food workers will be on strike. They have
already done it once in May.
I suspect that those that struck in may and the current employees are not the same people.

6. Bring on the work stoppages.

20. Best of luck with that.
As someone in the industry, you have about as much of a chance of that happening as you do successfully herding cats.

Low Pay is Not OK
Corollary: Low skills < investment pay is perfectly OK.

Do these people realize no one DEPENDS on fast food?
If there are lines at the local Mickey Ds or BK or what have you due to "work stoppage" most people will find alternatives at the nearby Arbees or just grab a cold sandwich at the 7/11.
And in FF, you don't get paid for hours you don't work AND not showing up is a firing offense.
This will not end well for those who will "strike."

Your pay is inversely proportional to the total number of people with the skills to replace you. This is a reality that eludes liberals.
-
This reminds me of the DUmp democrat a few years ago who so strongly favored a "general strike", he said it made him want to go out and get a job.

-Correct -
Burger-flipper and register-jockey are entry-level positions. Any primitives who go along with this strike ILO of showing up for their shifts are likely to end up back on the unemployment line.

‘RoboBurger’: Fast food chains can cut costs by using new technology
Recently, unions have been encouraging fast food workers to hold out for a $15 per hour wage in Chicago and other cities. Proponents have argued that fast food employees deserve more than they have been getting, and that the pay boost will improve the economy. But if they succeed, a different effect could take place: the accelerated mechanization of restaurants.
There’s already a burger-cooking robot in the works. San Francisco-based Momentum Machines has created Alpha, a robotic hamburger-making machine that the company claims can produce 360 high-quality burgers in an hour with minimal human supervision.

Increase the worker cost and robotics become very attractive, particularly at such low interest charges. The big companies will quit buying back shares and start capital spending on Robby the Burger Flipper. Don't be too surprised when burger prices go down at the first automated burger franchiser.
The Laffer curve is just not for taxes.

I think McDonalds uses automation in many of their restaurants already. I know they use some type of device that cooks both sides of the burgers at the same time.
The burgers at McDonald's are never flipped. They are grilled on a special electric griddle that cooks the patty from the top and the bottom. This decreases the cooking time: It takes just over 40 seconds to cook the frozen patty. Salt and pepper are added to the burger after cooking. While the patties are cooking, the buns are being toasted on a separate electric griddle. The cook uses a spatula to put the patty on the heel. The condiments and pickles are then added to the top of the patty and the crown is added. The burger is wrapped and slid into a heated serving unit, which the cashier then takes gives to the customer. The total time it takes to prepare a McDonald's hamburger, from the freezer to the customer's hands, is about a minute and a half.

There are some Micky D's around here that have a machine that fills soda cups. All the person at the window has to do is push a button for what size and kind of soda the customer wants, and put a lid on it.
Even a DUmmie would have to work at f'n that up, but I'm sure they already can.

If you want that kind of participation you should have had the strike earlier in the year on February 29th.
