He must also take an offering of a tenth of an ephah of barley flour on her behalf. He must not pour olive oil on it or put incense on it, because it is a grain offering for jealousy, a reminder-offering to draw attention to wrongdoing.
16 “‘The priest shall bring her and have her stand before the Lord. 17 Then he shall take some holy water in a clay jar and put some dust from the tabernacle floor into the water. 18 After the priest has had the woman stand before the Lord, he shall loosen her hair and place in her hands the reminder-offering, the grain offering for jealousy, while he himself holds the bitter water that brings a curse. 19 Then the priest shall put the woman under oath and say to her, “If no other man has had sexual relations with you and you have not gone astray and become impure while married to your husband, may this bitter water that brings a curse not harm you. 20 But if you have gone astray while married to your husband and you have made yourself impure by having sexual relations with a man other than your husbandâ€â€” 21 here the priest is to put the woman under this curse—“may the Lord cause you to become a curse among your people when he makes your womb miscarry and your abdomen swell. 22 May this water that brings a curse enter your body so that your abdomen swells or your womb miscarries.â€

23 “‘The priest is to write these curses on a scroll and then wash them off into the bitter water. 24 He shall make the woman drink the bitter water that brings a curse, and this water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering will enter her. 25 The priest is to take from her hands the grain offering for jealousy, wave it before the Lord and bring it to the altar. 26 The priest is then to take a handful of the grain offering as a memorial offering and burn it on the altar; after that, he is to have the woman drink the water. 27 If she has made herself impure and been unfaithful to her husband, this will be the result: When she is made to drink the water that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry, and she will become a curse. 28 If, however, the woman has not made herself impure, but is clean, she will be cleared of guilt and will be able to have children.
29 “‘This, then, is the law of jealousy when a woman goes astray and makes herself impure while married to her husband, 30 or when feelings of jealousy come over a man because he suspects his wife. The priest is to have her stand before the Lord and is to apply this entire law to her. 31 The husband will be innocent of any wrongdoing, but the woman will bear the consequences of her sin.’â€

Yet when the same book says homosexuality is a sin that must be ignored.
The DUmmy is wrong as they usually are though. This is not saying that abortion is a good thing, it is saying that a potential miscarriage is a punishment for being unfaithful. I wonder if the story of David and Bathsheba is also "proof" to the DUmmies that God loves abortion. Of course the sicko DUmmies don't see children as a blessing, but a curse so naturally they have it backwards on this.

according to Judaic Law (which is based on the Hebrew version of the Bible).
In that culture the life of the mother is worth more.
In this culture the life of the baby doesn't matter in the least.

My KJV says it's a curse if she defiled herself.
Num 5:27 And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.
Num 5:28 And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.
New age translations make it seem ok. They take out words to get what they want.

There's no mention of abortion in the whole passage. This was a test to see if the woman had cheated, the only way of knowing (since no one caught them in the act) would be to drink the water and it either became bitter or it didn't. Now, how did the water know to be bitter or not? Obviously God, being all knowing and all-seeing, would know if she had been unfaithful and would make it where the water would produce the correct results.
The only way they could have possibly gotten "abortion" out of this would be v.22 where it says if she is guilty her belly would swell and she would miscarry. Thing is if you read other versions of that same passage, it says her belly would swell and she could no longer have children. That's why it's important to read several versions, because sometimes one version isn't always clear. The primitive got this from the NIV version which I personally view as a poor translation, this being one of many examples why. My own study has concluded that the KJV, NKJV, ASV, and NASV are the most accurate translations.
But see, liberals (and especially liberals with an agenda) aren't interested in accuracy. Just like the whole DU site, they only want info that backs up what they want to believe anyway.

KJV is probably the most accurate you'll find except for original texts. When it was translated from the original texts in 1611 they did it word for word. KJV doesn't use slang. It added italicized words to show they were added, and so you can take them out to read a complete original translation.
NIV took out like 20,000+ words, and is a translation of a translation.

Yes, the NIV is one of the worst. For whatever reason on the biblegateway site (the one the primitive linked to, which is a good site to use for study, etc because it's very user friendly) it defaults to the NIV.

That's one of the best things about the King James Bible, it's not copyrighted. No one owns it. You can mass produce it without paying royalties.
NIV is copyrighted. You'd have to pay Zondervan if you wanted to mass produce it.

The KJV has some translational errors that were detected because older and more accurate manuscripts have been discovered since it was written. I use the ESV bible along with the older version of the NIV. The new NIV is horrible.
Just to help the DUers in their understand, the Hebrew Bible is the same as the protestant bible accept for the absence of the New Testament. Also some of the books that Christian bibles break in to two books (i. e. 1 and 2 Kings and 1 and 2 Chronicals) are a single book in a Hebrew bible.

No, many of them, including the DU ilk, memorize select verses that they believe demonstrate inconsistencies or contradictions within the many books and teachings of the Bible to use as a weapon against Christians and set snares of doubt. Most often they do not understand the context or deeper meaning of those verses. All of this is under the influence of Satan, just as their mockery and condemnation of Christians are.
As William Shakespeare wrote in The Merchant Of Venice:

17. It's true, many Church's pick and choose what to teach
I went to a Southern Baptist Church for like 10 years (I am now recovering) they always picked just a few verses from each book to teach so they could twist it any way they wanted. After 10 years I knew nothing. I was amazed, I knew little after all that time. They never taught the whole bible, just the parts they could twist for their own purposes.
Ten years of going to church, and Krazy learns NOTHING. Of course that is the fault of the church. It can't have anything to do with Krazy, right? :lol:
When I became a real Christian, I did the normal things...read the Bible, read books about the Bible, listened to sermons at church and on the radio from respected REAL Christians (John McArthur, Chuck Swindoll, David Jeremiah, Ravi Zacharias). And I learned a lot, very quickly. :-) Hey, Krazy, if you ever lurk, the preacher won't force all that knowledge on you, you have to actually help. LOL

Wait just one moment,-----A virgin marries a man her father told her to, she finds her husband has no interest in woman, he spends his time with the young boys.
Some how the young wife is attacked and raped. She finds herself with child and everyone knows her husband cannot be the father.
Interesting life style for the people way back when. Come to think about it the same life style is still going on today 4.000 years later not just in the Middle east but today all over the world and in ones back yard, or in homes everywhere.
