Well, I'm in a pickle, I just have to whine

And you, my dear Lounge Lizards, can help me by just listening....I'm not looking for medical advice. Here's what happened: On Thursday evening I tripped over my cat and really injured my right ankle. I may have broken it, as my ankle and whole foot is now swollen to twice regular size. So, I now cannot walk because it is way too painful to put any weight on it, or even move it. We pause for a Public Service Announcement:

***The time to buy crutches is BEFORE you need them. DOH!

I don't know my neighbors well enough to impose on them, and my daughter and her family are out of town on vacation until sometime next week. And because this is my right ankle, I cannot drive my car the 12 miles to the hospital. I live out in the middle of nowhere, Texas, about 50 miles NE of Austin. When I called into work on Friday morning, my boss suggested that I could 1. bother the neighbors, or 2. take an ambulance ride. Well, the ambulance ride is out because I do not consider a battered ankle to be life-threatening, and because of the cost, and also, how would I get back home afterward?

So, now I'm stuck here at home, scooting around in my office chair. The cats look at me like I'm nuts. Thank Goddess this house has laminate and tile floors, instead of carpeting. And I have plenty of food and water within reach. Also, I have ordered crutches from Amazon, but they won't be here until Wednesday. Thanks, guys, for letting me vent.

10. Thanks for the vibes, they are much needed

Right now I have no way to get to the doctor's office for the x-ray. Until the crutches arrive, I'm reduced to scooting around in my wheeled office chair, or on my butt on the ground. Once I get the crutches, I'll go get an x-ray and perhaps a cast. My daughter should be home then, and she can drive me. Right now I cannot drive because I would have to use my left foot for the gas and the brake, and I'm not sure that would be safe. Man, this sucks!

9. I hate to say this, but from what you have said, it seems to me you have a broken ankle. The same thing happened to me years ago. I tripped on a stair, and as I went down a heard a crack. So then I knew it was more than just a sprain. I think you need to get to a hospital as soon as you can. Crutches will help you walk, but they will not heal the broken ankle.

Frank, just how crazy some people are in a world of refusing to bother neighbors for a what could be a debilitating break to a bone is beyond me.

These people are not thinking clearly, when an accident happends that causes one to be immobile  and there is help just around the corner, are they looking for SSI  in the long run ?

I have to say I get the neighbor thing. I'm not one to ask for help either. But I think i would get over it if my bone was broken or I thought it was.

And what about friends? If it's adult child lives in the same area then I think its a safe assumption they have to know someone there? I'm not from here, but I know of at least 10 people I could contact, even if we don't speak regularly, who I would ask for help if needed and I hope they would do the same if in such a situation. As for getting home, someone doesn't need to stay for that. They could always come back and take you home after you were done.

And what about a cab if you really don't know a soul and won't reach out for help? I get the ambulance, but a cab? For 12 miles? 25? 50 bucks?

I do have to say the boss is a bit of a prick for not offering knowing the situation. I really can't think of any boss I've ever had who wouldn't at least ask another coworker if they could do it if for no other reason then to not lose a person for a few days. They at least had some business interest that would motivate them to make sure the other person got some assistance.

Like all leftists it is their own projection. They would not help another so expect others to do the same. That is just the way sub-humans act.

I drove a straight drive car 150 miles thru several towns with just my left foot......DUmmie wants some sympathy, healing white light and good vibes....or some killer pain pills for free.

Sounds like she's got a break with that swelling.  She needs to get to the emergency room, and an ambulance isn't a bad idea if she's got insurance.  But someone should take her if not.

Mail carriers, if they don't have a right-hand steer, have to drive their cars with their left foot.

DUmbass is probably too (shy, offensive, stupid, etc.) to do anything for itself, like ask a neighbor for help, probably wonders if there is a government program to do it for it.   :argh:

I hope it dies a slow and painful death, mainly because STUPID SHOULD HURT!!!!   :argh:

I drove a 1-ton truck down the WV Turnpike after the throwout bearing in the clutch went out.  All I can say is thank God we had E-Z Pass!

Bingo

Even if he can't afford a cab, don't most cities have some kind of a free service for transporting people?

Not after regular business hours.   You usually have to call ahead of time to make an appointment.

For $20, a cab will get you about 12-14 miles.  I suppose it beats a $100+ ambulance, but you'll still wait 15-30 minutes before they show up.

You forget, this is a DUmmy.

DUmmies have no friends, and carry on constant warfare against their neighbors.

In most cases, they and their immediate families hold one another in contempt.

A few misguided souls might do a favor if a DUmmy were facing imminent death, but most would not.

Hopefully this DUmpmonkey has shattered bones and will be crippled for life as a result of the delay in treatment.

Reminds me of the oxy-addicted DUmmy cali, crawling around on her wallduded belly with a smashed leg. Good times.

The only thing that's depressing about this OP is the almost certain knowledge that it's all a lie.

There are medical transport services, not ambulances, that are basically just vans with wheelchair lifts which will transport you to the ER, doctor's office, or wherever you want to go, even provide the wheelchair. Probably for less than an ambulance ride.

Yep, Kirk the Las Vegas Leviathan uses a taxpayer-provided service like that for all his shopping and cruising around the Las Vegas metro area.

What a magnificent post. Where is the nanny state when you need them?  :whatever: I bet if it were to call a local church, they'd  find a volunteer to take it to the ER.

Good grief DUmmy you seriously aren't smart enough to find a way to get to the ER?

And they have the nerve to think they are the most intelligent people ever.  :mental:

Well drug dealers aren't all that compassionate towards their mules.
