Title: Do you like Bass guitar?
Post by: EagleKeeper on August 09, 2013, 07:00:00 AM
I thought that this piece was so unusually awesome that I thiefed it from over at Aces place and drug it over here for you guys.

Here be some context for those that are so inclined.

Quote
Stephen Campbell is doing this with a Fender Jazz Bass and a delay pedal

Largemouth, smallmouth, or striped (bass)?

I can't see the YouTube because I'm at work, and my speakers don't work here.

I made it to 2 minutes.

Sounds new-agey to me. Not much of a story there. Lots of technique in the player, but there's no substance in the music itself.

I liked it. He should play a Chapman Stick.

This is the line up of Stick Men I saw roughly 2 years ago.

Gotta agree with this.

Les Claypool is pretty talented.

Bleh, my taste must be in my mouth.

I've watched it 4 times and it gives me chills everytime. I really really like it.

Bass guitar fan here as well.  This was kinda cool.

If you haven't already, check out some Wayman Tisdale to hear some nice melodic bass guitar.

Probably not much of a dubstep fan either, I'm guessing?  :lmao:

I lost track of pop music in the mid-Seventies. I had to look up what "dubstep" is.  :p

I waste time routinely, in the vain hope I'll find some credible music that has today's date stamp on it.

It's generally been an exercise in futility, but I'm ever the optimist.  :p

Well, if he checked out a Lindsey Stirling video, it may not have been a waste. O-)

As far as I'm concerned, the only bassists that have ever been worthy of note include:

1.  Jaco Pastorius
2.  Ray Brown
3.  Ron Carter
4.  John Entwistle
5.  Sam Jones
6.  Oscar Pettiford
7.  Bob Badgely
8.  Ralph Pena
9.  Paul Chambers
10. Walter Page

I don't see Lindsey Stirling anywhere in that list.  ;)
