Lexington, KY (RestaurantNews.com) A&W Restaurants, Inc., America’s oldest franchise restaurant brand, today announced that participating US A&W restaurants will celebrate August 6, 2013 as National Root Beer Float Day by giving away Root Beer Floats. Patrons will be encouraged to make a donation to the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project ® (WWP), which supports a full range of programs and services for this generation of Wounded Warriors and their families.
Kevin Bazner, CEO of A&W Restaurants, noted, “Our founder Roy Allen began making Root Beer nearly a century ago to help welcome home returning soldiers from World War I, so it is fitting that A&W continue this heritage of honoring our service members on National Root Beer Float Day.â€
Anyone entering a participating A&W restaurant across the nation between 2:00 p.m. and closing time will receive one small Root Beer Float free of charge upon request. In return, they will be asked to make a donation to WWP. Donors will be able to give directly at participating restaurants or online at http://www.awrestaurants.com/woundedwarrior.

The secret to the best root beer float........
A scoop of vanilla icecream in the bottom of the large glass,
Add a little Dad's Root Beer,
Stir into a slurry,
Two or more scoops of icecream,
Slowly fill with Dad's Root Beer.
I gotta get to the grocery store.........(http://www.conservativecave.com/Smileys/default/drool.gif)
