An impound yard wants over $500 to release my stolen VW bug.
My WV was stolen from a nearby metro rail station. My wife got word it was recovered earlier this week just south of downtown L.A.
She went to the yard today to hopefully take it home. No engine, transmission, seats, the engine bonnet (hood), carpets, the crap in the glovebox, battery, and everything else not welded down, gone!
The yard won't let her remove the car because I'm the registered owner, and I can't be home till Monday. Her only option to not pay is to sign the pink over to the impound yard, but they won't even let her do that because, I'm not there.
So it wasn't good enough to be ripped off by car thieves, now the police impound yard wants a cut.
My bug, my niece, and myself in happier times..

3. Every day it's there, they are charging me fees.
If I sign it over to them before Monday, they will wave all fees. As of Monday I'll owe about $600 or so, accruing every day until this is resolved.
So yeah, it would be better if we let them keep it, but they will make more money by finding ways to not accept it until we pay them.
OK I got a question:The DUmmy is the registered owner... he's responsible for storage fees. That's how the impound lot works. If they find the shitbag that stole the car, he can sue for restitution.
Fact 1: It was stolen.
So how does the impound yard charge you for keeping the car there? You are the victim. I suspect they told you that you had to get it out of there in a period of time and you didn't.
Something just does not smell right here.

I don't know what they charge... the last time I had a vehicle in impound was when my motorcycle was towed off after the last accident I was in. I think they wanted $27/day for storage. $500 is quite the bill.
For a stolen car, the cops contact you and say your car is there and you have to get it by x date or they charge storage fees.Exactly. I think the DUmmy either sat on his hands or ignored the notice(s) that came in the mail. "Oh shit, another damn bill!"

He said the "bonnet" (hood) was missing, but I bet the "boot" (trunk) was not, because like GOBUCKS said, it was covered in "Respect Your Mother", "Visualize Whirled Peas", F*** Glowbull Warming", "Gore 2004" (I've actually seen this one! LAUGHED MY ASS OFF!), and "Barry/Biden" stickers.
The car was targeted by thieves BECAUSE of the stickers, IMHO, BECAUSE they knew it belonged to a DUmmie, and if they were caught, DUmmie wouldn't prosecute, feeling he was helping some poor car thieves earn a few extra bucks to buy food to feed their families.
The car thieves took the only things out of the car worth anything, and probably got about $27.83 for their haul.
They could have doubled that taking the ENTIRE car to the crusher.
Talking about his German car, but calling a part by its British name- then defining it for the more parochial DUmmies.I caught that too, that and the metro rail station. They must be British, living in America, and just got off the boat...
Pretentious fool.
Bet he wants to drive it to Pockeeston.
With all the stuff that's missing....it ain't worth $500.

If the car is a rear-engine POS, do the Brits still call the engine cover a bonnet?

I guess this is a stupid question, but did the DUmmie have auto insurance?Or even a drivers license ?
