South African chef 'too fat' to live in New Zealand
Immigration officials said Albert Buitenhuis, who weighs 130kg (286 pounds), did not have "an acceptable standard of health".
...
Mr Buitenhuis and his wife, Marthie, moved from South Africa to Christchurch in 2007. At the time, the chef weighed 160kg.
...
An immigration spokesman said Mr Buitenhuis's application had been rejected because his obesity put him at "significant risk" of complications including diabetes, hypertension and heart disease.
"It is important that all migrants have an acceptable standard of health to minimise costs and demands on New Zealand's health services," he said.

So he's been there 6 years, paying taxes, and losing weight, and now they decide he's a health risk. Sounds like a rip-off to me. Take the taxes for a few years, when he's a net contributor to government finances, and then, when the risk of having to pay for treatment gets too much, chuck him out. What you'd expect of a health insurance company, not a decent government.
He pays taxes so he's entitled?
What about all the net tax-takers?

1. Bureaucracies sometimes fail
Not always intentionally. It's under appeal.
Only sometimes.

2. There are people in America who have no tolerance for
smokers, fat people, or anyone else with a preventable condition that puts them at risk medically. Funny, one of the excuses they always use is, "With government insurance, I'm paying for it!" We'll see things like that happen here, too, I'll wager.

The commie state of New York just released the prices of their "health care" exchanges...the cheapest plan is $450 a month with a $3000 deductible.
Sorry NY DUmmies, you're gonna die broke under obumble care.

13,000 people died needlessly under the UK's NHS since 2005.
That's right...13 large.
Thanks DUmmies and good luck.

They've got a scandal going on over there right now with several hospitals hiding deaths then destroying the records.
Up to 3,400 patients died needlessly last year at the 21 major hospitals run by the 14 NHS trusts.
At five of these trusts, the number of needless deaths in 2012 exceeded the worst-ever year at Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust.
The investigated hospitals are struggling to provide safe care for patients with common emergencies like heart attacks, strokes and serious lung conditions.
Elderly people are the most vulnerable, just as they were at Mid Staffs.
Some trusts massaged their statistics to make their hospitals appear safer than they are.

When I heard about this and saw the report on Sky News my first thought was this is what is in store for us with Obamacare.

Simple question - when something run by a government bureaucracy goes wrong, what is ALWAYS AND EVERYWHERE the first response of the bureaucracy?
Cover-up, hide, and attempt to shift any blame.

Oh yes, definitely. I'd offer a wager if anyone disagrees, but I suspect I won't get any takers on here.

Or as I like to say:
Admit Nothing! Deny Everything! Make Counter-Accusations!

Use the word "phony" as much as possible. Ask "What difference does it make" if anyone dies as a result of administration incompetence or outright criminal negligence.

Exactly!
Remember, the man who can smile, when things go wrong, has thought of someone to blame it on!

Aside from defense, which is in the Constitution, Name ONE THING the government oversees with any degree of of competence.
Name one government program whose budget didn't balloon far beyond expected costs.
Just one.

Outside of the military, can't think of a thing, damned or otherwise.
BUT, that's about par for the course when you have a presy and congress members that couldn't pour piss out of a boot, even if the directions were written on the heel.

I believe it!!! There are somethings NHS will deny, if one is over a certain age, I want to say 80, but please don't quote me on that. They denied my great Aunt ,cataracts, when she was in her 90's.
