In a move that drew the ire of Texas officials, Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday the Justice Department will ask a San Antonio-based federal court to force Texas to get permission from the federal government before it can make any additional changes to its voting and election laws.
The challenge to Texas' authority comes after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a portion of the Voting Rights Act. The high court’s 5-4 decision invalidated a rule that singled out certain states, like Texas and North Carolina, and forced them to get Justice Department approval before changing their election rules.
The Voting Rights Act was a major turning point in black Americans’ struggle for equal rights and political power. The court did not unravel the law itself, but questioned the validity of the allegedly outdated criteria used to select which states would be singled out.
Following the decision, Holder had publicly pledged to aggressively use his department’s power to block or halt any new state laws it views as discriminatory. He took his first step in that direction on Thursday.

So basically the DoJ now takes the official position of "Screw what the Supreme Court decides WE'LL decide which decisions we will abide by and which we won't."
:whatever:

Hey, Holderloose! Eat shit and die!

The Regime has been ignoring all authority but "it's own" for years now. I'm not certain at all why this latest usurpation should surprise you.

Only surprises me anymore is in the brazen nature they are doing things.

Unlimited brazenness, unlimited depravity.

Why does Holder ignore voter ID laws in liberal states and only goes after the southern states?

Why does Holder ignore voter ID laws in liberal states and only goes after the southern states?
Because he can.
Hell, if Barry can piss off a federal judge so badly that the judge finds his administration in contempt of court (to wit, oil drilling on the Gulf Coast), there is no telling what the nation's top lawyer can do.
Jeez, I'll bet that Holder could even round up a bunch of firearms and just allow them to walk away into Mexico. :whatever:

Holder could drop charges against thugs intimidating voters and the press wouldn't care. Can he be sued for violating the equal protection clause since the USSC struck down parts of the voting rights law?

Obama and Holder make a racist like Robert Byrd of KKK fame look tame. Both of these a-holes want to punish Texas and the South.
-
Obama is a fake president and Holder is a fake Attorney General.
I guess we can just ignore them...............if only we could....
.
-
I guess we should get ready here as NC is getting ready to pass voter id.

According to Jefferson (http://www.libertyclassroom.com/nullification/), your state has a DUTY to ignore unconstitutional federal laws.

They hate Texas and the South. The Supreme Court nullified part of the Voter's Right Act.

They hate Texas and the South. The Supreme Court SPECIFICALLY nullified THAT part of the Voter's Right Act.
FIFY.

FIFY.
Thanks.

Only surprises me anymore is in the brazen nature they are doing things.
Because the MSM will cover for them or not report it, and the low-information voters won't care as long as they get "their money" and Obamaphones, etc., from "his" stash.

Texas Officials, Activists to Holder on Voter ID: If It’s War You Want, It’s War You’ve Got
Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is responding quickly and forcefully to Obama Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision to rope Texas back into the Voting Rights Act. The US Supreme Court just struck part of that law down.-snip-The facts are on Abbott’s side. Texas specifically modeled its voter ID law on Indiana’s. That law has already been taken all the way to the US Supreme Court and was upheld. The Texas law enjoys widespread support across all ethnicities in the state. Only the Texas Democrat Party and its allies oppose it.
The Obama administration has been very consistent about opposing laws that buttress election security, and it has been very consistent about punishing states that don’t get in line with Obama’s radical agenda. Holder’s lawsuit is just another example of both.
The lawsuit comes just after Abbott announced his run for governor. It will give him a major platform from which to oppose Obama and Holder, which will play very well in Texas. Frankly, Abbott was already heavily favored to win. Now he’s all but a lock.
Update: Texas Gov. Rick Perry posted the following statement on his Facebook page.
“Once again, the Obama Administration is demonstrating utter contempt for our country’s system of checks and balances, not to mention the U.S. Constitution. This end-run around the Supreme Court undermines the will of the people of Texas, and casts unfair aspersions on our state’s common-sense efforts to preserve the integrity of our elections process.â€

Yeah! Stand up to the bullies in the admin. FIGHT.
At least one Republican outside the Tea Party has the guts to say, "NO."
-
I was reading an article in the Weekly Standard about the GOP AG's. It quoted Greg Abbott as saying:
"What I really do for fun, is I go into the office and I sue the Obama administration."
:yahoo:

I like Texas. I wish Floridumb was like Texas.

Thank you, mrclose, for posting this information.
Makes me want to move to Texas. I like what I read. Abbott and his colleagues are in the process of knocking that chip off of Barry's shoulder. Holder is little more than Barry's hired thug.

Come on then...we'd love to have you.
Can't wait to cast my vote for Greg Abbott.

Gotta wait for second retirement. Definitely gonna be in the south somewhere -- haven't really decided yet.
But back to the story -- I am definitely getting the sense that Texans (at least the political leadership) are just about fed up with Barry's bullshit. There's gonna be a showdown and it ain't looking good for Barry and his goons.
