Title: The "Gentrification" of Detroit???
Post by: GCBill on July 21, 2013, 06:45:04 PM
So people (OK, DUmmies) REALLY believe there are teeming masses of Brads and Chads and Courtneys and Kaitlyns desperately waiting to move into Detroit once those pesky poor folks have been run out on a rail?

2. Aaaw..all they need (the gov & his henchmen) is a way to get rid of all those pesky poor folks

(aka 82% of the population) and then Detroit will be available for the looters to show up & gentrify it..

I bristled when I heard his "manager" refer to New Orleans, as a model & how Detroit school kids in CHARTER schools were A-okay..

If you can "ship out" your poorest people, and lay waste to what they were forced to leave behind, you have a pretty good chance create any society you want.

The tricky part is that without a hurricane to drown some, and an aftermath where there is chaos & you can bus them to other states , you have to actually work things out.

Help keep Detroit dirty, broke, blighted, and crime ridden. For the peepole!

So, the primitives would rather have a dirty, broken Detroit with massive unemployment and crime, Vs one that has been taken over by hipsters, artists, and coffee shops..

Because that's the usual path Gentrification follows.

Detroit will be as leftist as it is now, but at least there will be jobs.

Along with the associated diseases, like rabies. The HIPSTERS will be quick to point that out. Even if the hipster in question is a hipster doofus...

...like they did in Oklahoma City after the E5 tornado.

Democrats and other assorted libtards and progressives created Detroit as we know it today. Now they complain about what was their own handiwork.

I haven't heard any suggestions from them. How about homesteading abandoned properties with requirements to improve them? Could they? Would they?

The people who should really bristle at that are the civilized citizens of Houston.

I doubt they want yet another failed blue shithole to send them tens of thousands of deadbeats.

The homesteading idea is an interesting one, but without jobs I don't know how feasible it is.  I'm thinking that property investors are probably a better bet than individual homeowners.  The city could do a massive sale/auction for all the abandoned/foreclosed/condemned properties, potentially bring in some initial revenue, and then hopefully the new investors could create some new revenue streams.  Unfortunately, the crime rate and lack of jobs are still a sticking point.

Honestly, gentrification is probably the best thing that could happen to the city.

Do you really think that you could stop the whole process from repeating itself?  Every Urban center is a target.  The progs would bus people in, pay their rent for years, and  *poof*  same sh*t, different day.

..and that is exactly what you would get with a Detroit scenario, only difference,  they don't have to move them.....

well, very far...

No, we do not. They came, they saw, and they pillaged.
Then they were informed that tax payers would no longer support , they screamed racism.
The mobile homes they were provided with (by taxpayers), were trashed, and anything of value was stolen.
I have no love nor compassion for those pos'es.
None.

Where I live, we got a horde of Katrina rejects. They were shocked when they were arrested and jailed for shoplifting. They were used to New Orleans where shoplifting was only a misdemeanor and they were ticketed for it. I'll bet they never paid those tickets either.

We shouldn't expect an over night solution to a problem that was decades in the making. Kansas was settled by homesteaders, but didn't become a wheat breadbasket overnight.

Detroiters should run from the idea of the "homestead" model.

Remember, homesteading of the Great Plains and the West were successful only because settlers were able to exterminate the tribes of uncivilized savage nomads.

In today's world, those savages are the urban 0bamaite democrats.

Gentrification ruining the culture of Detroit is the least of the problems that money pit has.
