Oh my.

One wonders if this ailment can get someone on the social security disability gravy train.

Can people be allergic to their own hair?

I remember as a child the dreaded hair cut... I would cry: "fur, fur" and my nose would itch horribly. Even today, especially in the Summer... when my hair gets longer it itches and I seem to have more allergy symptoms.

All of the recent GD posts about hair had me thinking... Am I allergic to my own hair?

One of franksolich's favorite primitives; I don't bring him over here often because he's still evolving; it takes time for talent to bloom:

2. If I don't shave the hair off my body, my skin breaks out.

3. Just shaved my head... and considering offing the body hair again

a bit of netsearch found a few examples online... I seriously think it may be a real allergy for me. I tend to get allergies to weird things that don't bother other people.

For example, I am deathly allergic to the blooms of the Neem tree (which is supposed to be hella good for you...)

5. When I have a lot of static

And my hair is randomly floating around my head and sticking to my face....I about go crazy. It seems way more itchy than usual, during high static times.

8. By longer, do you mean more than 1/4 of an inch, or ?

When you get a hair cut little snips of hair are irritating because they have teeny ends so they are like any other fiber that pokes into your skin a bit- like a bristly hemp rope. Old fashioned barbers sweep the hair off your neck with a soft brush and dust it with powder so the hair doesn't stick to your skin.

Hair does capture pollen, dust, and other stuff, maybe if you at least rinse it every night it would feel less itchy?

Sometimes when I'm really tired I flop down in bed after brushing my teeth. I'm lying on my back, then my eyes start itching and stinging and I have to get up and rinse my eyes. I'm pretty sure pollen &/or dust drifts into my eyes when I blink, causing them to itch. They feel so refreshed after swishing water over them.

9. I suspect you may be very sensitive to the environment

either something in nature, or all the crap we put in the air.

I once had a skin problem 14 years ago that started with a tiny itch on one of my ankles, then started to creep up almost my crotch with open sores then jumped to my arms -

despite antibiotics, topical lotions and seeing 2 different doctors, nothing worked.

And it itched like hell in some spots.

One day while I was shaving, said **** it and scraped a few of the itchiest ones with my razor - almost raw.

3 days later, it started to heal in the places I'd scraped, hmm - shaved afew more - same thing, started to heal almost right away

Shaved my legs and arms a few days later everything started to heal nicely, no more maddening itching.

- 1 week later - ALL GONE!

Doctors had treated me for over three months - and the problem kept getting worse.

Hair collects just about anything in the air, an literally sucks shit into your pores.

If I don't do a body shave regularly , itching will start, and sure ain't waiting until I got open sores,

- so I be a clean machine!

Sounds like these itchy DUmmies need to get more familiar with a shower.

A little bit of soap will wash away your allergies..........maybe not but it would do wonders for most DUmmies.

As a welfare recipient is to a job, so a primitive is to water.

Maybe this primitive could start off with something easy, such as the water-free shampoo, and gradually work themselves up to real shampoo and water.
