I once hit the door locks as Obama mentioned today...

It was when I was a young business man, in my thirties. I was on assignment in a big city and
I was driving to the client site. I was on a side road less traveled that would take me to the more
traveled and peopled downtown streets.
I was at a stop light and I looked to my right and I saw a person walking towards my car, or more
specifically, towards the intersection.
I hit the door locks. Yes, the young kid, not much younger than me, say in his twenties, was black.
I looked at him and saw his face. It was like, 'geez, come on man'... I felt bad. In truth, I would have
hit the locks button no matter who the person was. I truly felt bad and shook my head and mouthed 'I'm sorry' , knowing that
it had nothing to do with his race. Of course, to him, I can only know that he felt it was because of 'him', his 'color'.
I have never hit the locks button again. Being a safety conscience person in general, the door locks are engaged right after the
seat belt goes on.
Just something that happened to me. Something I learned from...

I award thee half a bong because this particular bouncy did make me snicker a little. It's good to laugh once in a while, and for that, I give a little props. But not much. Have to work harder, primitive.

37. My family was racist and bigoted in many ways. Sexist. The whole backpack full.
Not extreme, just the 'normal' for the times. ha. Most still are, but they don't really know it. I point it out now and then when it's too much, but am not very popular. I kind of like that, being a bit different than them.
Sometimes it takes longer to unlearn old things than learn new things. But we can get there. Always more to unlearn tho. thankfully my daughter can start further up the unlearning than I did because of my unpopularity.
Of course, like most primitives, you're the black colored African American non denominational sheep that must always be loved, respected, and treated equally at all costs.
Still sheep, nonetheless.

I hit the locks as soon as I get in, or out of, the car at my house (or work, store, wherever). I am either
--security conscious, or
--racist against The Invisible Man.

I lived in New Orleans. We locked the car doors the minute we got in, locked the house doors all the time, got a big ass dog that barked at me if I got a real good tan. Of course there were over 500 murders that year and maybe 3 were committed by whites and they were domestic violence. I guess that makes me a racist too. Of course all the people in my neighborhood, black, hispanic, white, oriental, did not matter did the same thing.

So TheProgressive primitive has learned to be pre-racist and lock his doors before entering a predominantly black neighborhood rather than waiting until he enters the area where he might offend someone by locking his doors within ear-shot. But aren't you locking your doors for the same reason, primitive, no matter when you do it? And who's to say other people to whom Dear Leader made reference didn't do exactly what you did, which was realize they didn't lock their doors until they noted they were in a pedestrian area?
