Where are the National Guard ??
Shouldn't they be filling these sandbags? Isn't that their primary mission - to protect our nation from disasters such as the floods in the Midwest? Does anyone have any idea where they might be??

Where are the National Guard ??
The Iowa National Guard, in conjunction with the office of Iowa Governor Chet Culver and Lt. Governor Patty Judge, Iowa Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and many local, state, and federal entities, are providing assistance, coordination, planning, and preparation in support of flood relief operations across the state of Iowa.
More than 2,100 Soldiers and Airmen are currently activated for state active duty in Iowa.

Kentuck knew exactly what the response was going to be, thats why he posted it. It part of the Blame Bush methodology. If enough people say it then its just got to be true.

I would like, very much, for a primitive to explain why he thinks the National Guard is supposed to do the hard work, the sandbagging, while ordinary able-bodied civilians, including the primitives, just stand around, watching.
I don't pay taxes for the National Guard to do drudge work; I pay taxes for the National Guard to be well-trained to meet all sorts of disasters, but especially martial ones. The National Guard could help fill sandbags, I suppose, if they're so inclined, and as long as it doesn't distract from their purpose.
The National Guard are not personal servants doomed to drudge work; if someone wants to save his home or neighborhood or town, then he'd better be down there doing what he can, himself.
