Say we did like Australia, and have a 2-3 year buy back program whereby the government pays over market price for all guns.

During this time we outlaw all sales of guns

Once we have gotten the guns off the street, we take them away from law enforcement

Because honestly, the monopoly on guns cannot be in the hands of the Police

And I know this will ruffle some feathers, but keep telling yourself "It's just a thought experiment"

If the DUmmies who actually *have* jobs would spend more time doing those jobs rather than playing around in DUmmyland, the total number of new threads and responses would be reduced immensely.

And, if the ones who do not have jobs would spend more time looking for jobs, they too would have much less time for typing DUmmywords.

The number of threads started Mon - Fri during normal working hours for most people (9 - 5, taking into account the various time zones) is much larger than night hours or weekends.  I think they spend a lot of employer time playing on the internet.

Yeah, taking guns away has worked so wonderful that  crime has shot up dramatically in Australia and other places around the world. One has to ask though, just how does the druggy going to explain the virtue of giving up guns to rape victims. How is he going to deal with the fact that his plan leaves Gays,Blacks,Jews and other minorities defenseless against anyone able to do them harm? I guess as long as he gets his needs taken care of it's all good. They must be so proud of him especially after his last post on this subject.

Let's temporarily forget that his proposal would obviously violate the Second Amendment, and thus could not be done.
Criminals would love his little "Thought experiment." Those criminals who have guns would of course not care about breaking another law and keep what they have (Notice how none of the liberals who propose their "Ban all guns everywhere" ideas offer any possible ways to combat this particular problem, which is especially significant considering that the vast majority of gun- related crimes are committed using guns that were already illegally owned), but this proposal would ensure that not only would none of their potential victims be able to defend themselves, but not even the COPS would be able to effectively stand up to them! Literally the only people with access to guns would be the criminals!
Then again, considering Taverner lives his life in a dope- addled haze, I'm not surprised that particular detail slipped his mind.
