Protests of Zimmerman verdict mostly peaceful; sporadic vandalism reported
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/07/14/george-zimmerman-acquitted-murder-in-trayvon-martin-shooting-death/
Communities across America braced for a day of demonstration, and possibly even dissent, as the public awoke Sunday to learn a six-person Florida jury had acquitted George Zimmerman of second-degree murder, overnight, in the February 2012 killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
Protesters on the West Coast massed, and in some cases marched Saturday in four California cities, beneath the lingering sunshine after the verdict was announced around 10 p.m. on the East Coast.
Most of the California demonstrations proved peaceful, although matters were marred by sporadic reports of stray violence and vandalism, including the halt of a passenger train, the burning of American and California flags, the lighting of small fires in city roadways, shattered storefront windows and the spray painting of a courthouse, as well as the damaging of a police squad car.
In Oakland, police said about 100 people protested, with some among the crowd breaking windows and starting fires in the streets. As the protest eventually fizzled, the office of police information added that it had no word of any arrests as of 2 a.m. local time.

Still very early yet. Even NBPP and SEIU need time to orchestrate a "spontaneous" protest/riot.

'The system has failed': Hundreds of demonstrators voice their disappointment and anger over not guilty verdict in George Zimmerman trial
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2362829/George-Zimmerman-verdict-Hundreds-voice-disappointment-Trayvon-Martin-case.html
Angry crowds gathered in major cities across the country late last night following the not guilty verdict in the Trayvon Martin case.
The demonstrators carried signs and gathered en masse from New York to Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. Though the marches were largely non-violent, police assembled close by to monitor activity - fearful strong reactions to the verdict could spill over into rioting.
In Oakland, California, long a hotbed of racial tension, some protestors turned violent - vandalizing police cars, breaking windows and setting fire to garbage cans.
Zimmerman Found Not Guilty: New York, America React Strongly

From AP at the New York link. Feel free to remove the excerpt.
The protest in Union Square started shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, by 7:30 p.m. that rally had ended but another began around 9 p.m. in Times Square. The Times Square protest caused traffic on 7th Ave to shut down between 42nd and 47th Street, but shortly before 10 p.m. some demonstrators had started making their way towards Harlem, while others began to return to Union Square.
Another protest was also planned for 7 p.m. Monday at Hunts Point Plaza in the Bronx.
People also took to Union Square Saturday night to protest the not guilty verdict, and by Sunday afternoon hundreds had gathered in Newark, NJ to peacefully protest Zimmerman’s acquittal as well, the Associated Press reported.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested at least one person after a clash between officers and people protesting the Trayvon Martin verdict in South Los Angeles on Sunday night.
LAPD Cmdr. Andy Smith said some demonstrator threw rocks and D-cell batteries at police near the corner of Washington Boulevard and 10th Avenue. Police responded by firing less-than-lethal rounds at the demonstrators.
It was unclear if anyone was hurt.
The LAPD called a citywide tactical alert after demonstrators protesting the not guilty verdict in the George Zimmerman case blocked traffic on the 10 Freeway in the Mid-City area Sunday evening.

I am surprised rioting is happening in Oakland, which is a far from Florida as it gets. Oakland has a high crime rate and is not far from Berkeley and San Francisco. People could get killed.

PA Business Graffitied with 'Kill Zimmerman,' Set on Fire
http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/07/16/Business-spray-painted-kill-zimmerman
n Chester County, Pennsylvania, police are investigating graffiti on a building before it was set on fire: “KILL ZIMMERMAN.†Firefighters were called to the scene of the fire at ProSigns, a company manufacturing commercial signs for business, and found that phrase spray-painted in red on the front of the building. The firefighters put out the fire without significant damage. The fire has been ruled arson.

yeah, I recall during the rodney king riots, one of the local news channels filmed a mob of looters carrying all kinds of stuff out of stores. What puzzled and amused me was some hoodrat carrying bundles of depends undergarmets that he had just liberated from some nearby store. It reminded me how sharks react when there is blood i the water, they just start snapping and attacking anything in the vicinity whether it's food or not. For the hoodrats, I guess it dowsn't matter what you steal, just as long as you steal from others.

At least 6 arrested at Zimmerman trial protest in San Bernardino
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-6-arrested-zimmerman-protest-san-bernardino-20130718,0,3483456.story
At least six people were arrested Thursday night in San Bernardino after rocks and bottles were thrown and officers and pedestrians were attacked in a protest against the George Zimmerman trial verdict.
The incident began about 8 p.m. as marchers moved south along Highland Avenue and were joined by others not initially involved with what was a peaceful protest at that point, according to police.
Protesters ended up at a Jack in the Box restaurant near Waterman Avenue and Baseline Street and began hurling rocks and bottles at passing vehicles and officers who arrived at the scene, said Lt. Mike Madden of the San Bernardino Police Department.
"They just saw the opportunity for civil unrest," Madden told the Los Angeles Times.
So much for peaceful protests. :mental:

Protestors Post Signs, Letter At Mayor’s House
http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2013/07/18/protestors-post-signs-letter-at-mayors-house/
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A local coalition protesting the George Zimmerman acquittal have claimed responsibility for planting protest signs on Mayor Luke Ravenstahl’s property in Fineview.
“Trayvon PGH†is demanding a response from the mayor. KDKA Investigator Andy Sheehan says officials are more concerned about the mayor’s security.
They came to City Hall see the mayor, and when he declined to meet with them, they went to his house in the middle of the night and planted protest signs.

Caught on Tape: Pro-Trayvon Martin ‘Protesters’ Attack Houston Grandmother and Refuse to Let Family Take Child to Hospital
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/07/17/caught-on-tape-pro-trayvon-martin-protesters-attack-grandmother-and-refuse-to-let-family-take-child-to-hospital/
While much of the nation was focused on the pro-Trayvon Martin “protests†(practically riots) in Los Angeles and Oakland on Monday, demonstrators in Houston resorted to violence as they rallied for “justice for Trayvon.â€
The demonstrators in Houston on Monday evening successfully blocked traffic on a highway overpass and the road below. A woman, badly in need of getting her 7-year-old granddaughter to the hospital due to an allergic reaction, found herself at the mercy of the rowdy protesters.
The "protesters" even blocked a woman who was going to the hospital for their granddaughter. She could of died from this.
