Bay Area station KTVU has apologized for the error but maintains the names were confirmed by an NTSB official.

I don't know if anyone remembers the Chinese pilot who caused a mid air collision with one of our US Navy P-3 orions. Our P-3 crew had to emergency land in Chinese territory and were held for several days. Anyone remember his name ?

Wong Wei
(pronounced wrong way)

They did check with the NTSB and those names were verified by a government agency. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/07/12/ktvu-gaffe/2513971/
