Mass. lawmakers agree on photo IDs for EBT cards
Source: Associated Press
BOSTON (AP) -- Photo identification would be required on electronic benefit transfer cards for most Massachusetts welfare recipients under a provision backed by state legislators Monday.
The measure was attached to a supplemental spending bill for the state fiscal year that ended Sunday. The House and Senate approved the bill on unanimous votes.
The proposal would mandate that photos be placed on EBT cards used by recipients over the age of 18, but it would exempt the elderly and disabled from the requirement.
Another provision would create a task force on welfare verification and eligibility that would include the state attorney general, state treasurer and inspector general, among others.

Assholes. Beating up on the poor, another fine example of bipartisanship.

1. How is this beating up on the poor?
Wont this help get rid of fraud and abuse?
You sound like a creepy ass cracker freeper defending voter ID.

10. I recall reading that recipients were being robbed of the cards
In MA. There was growing concern.
An EBT card is equivalent to cash, so perhaps the photos will help protect recipients from theft. The only thing worse than being on welfare is having your benefits stolen.
Don't think of it as stealing, think of it as wealth redistribution.

How little the middle incomers understand how painful and demoralizing the way assistance is set up. All I can say that it is better than going hungry, what a rotten way the poor are treated.

How are these photos going to be taken, when and where? Given many people on Welfare do not own a car, and thus having lower rates of having a driver's license and less able to go to whoever issues driver's licenses in Massachusetts, how do such people get to Photo ID locations? Given most people on Food Stamps and Medicaid also work, will hours be extended to give these people time to have the photo taken?
None of the above was probably even considered when this bill was passed
Then we need to give them free cars and free insurance so they can text and drive on their 0bamaphone.

20. That photo ID won't be good enough for voting purposes though.

34. We don't do that in Massachusetts. We're civilized. nt

I really hope that someday these DUmmies go to vote and find out they already voted. :-)
The problem I see with that though, is the person who stole their vote would have voted a straight democrat ticket anyway.

You want a government service, you should have to prove it is you.
Unless it's voting then that is racist and stuff.

46. MA is heavily Democratic, always has been. This is about thieves, not about wingnuts. nt
That explains why there are so many thieves in Massachusetts, lots of democrats lots of thieves.

Next up--Voter ID?
Nah. Didn't think so...

Unfortunatly it will not prevent welfare receipients from using their EBT card to purchase $2000 worth of fireworks for the fourth of July.

Funny how these same poor people that are on welfare, food stamps and other government handout programs, managed to get to where ever they needed to be to get the hand outs. I wonder how they got there?
They also seem to be holding obama phones with internet access, have access to the public paid for buses (they provide buses for the poor here in Ocala, Fl. to go around town shopping, government paid doctors appts. or what ever else they want to do), free baby sitters, and the list goes on and on...so if we the tax payers can pay for all of these handouts (benefits) I think we should be allowed to require a photo ID.....

The DUmmie goons always make being The Poor sound so noble and pure. Why would anyone want to be anything else?

Set up the damn camera in the welfare office where they have to turn in the paperwork. Stop wringing your hands over stupid stuff, DUmbasses. And yeah, unless you're very disabled, a state of dependency should not be cushy and comfortable. Ben Franklin knew this. Parents worth their salt know this, too.

Yeah right. Then if they work they can afford to get to where they will take the pictures.
I have three separate photo IDs from 3 separate companies that require it for me to come on their property for work.

I think when you receive money that has been taken by threat of imprisonment from someone else, it should be painful. I know it is certainly painful to me when it is taken. I have no problem helping someone out that has hit hard times. Goodness knows I have had my share. What I take exception at is the "perpetual poor". The dump is a good example dummie. As near as I can figure, not a daggone one of you dummies are gainfully employed.
Sorry the "perpetual poor" are treated shabbily in your opinion dummie, but I really do not care. Get a skill and get a job or STFU. Every dollar funding your shabby existence is a dollar taken from me that I can't use to make my family's life better. :bird: :bird:
BTW... I thought the middle class was dead in America?

Oh don't worry. Massive-two-shits will wind up taking Consular Matricular cards and the like as acceptable ID.

28. Lost Cards
20,000 lost cards are reported every month. So this should help keep down fraud and help with those cards that are really lost, keeping someone from stealing a needy persons money.

Easy come, easy go. If these freeloaders had to work for their money, they wouldn't be losing it all the time.
-
you know, that 20,000 sounds awfully high. No shit, but I kid you not, that is 666 losses a day!! :evillaugh: :evillaugh:..
Where they putting these cards for chrissakes? Up their asses?... We New Hampshirians, don't call then Massholes for nothing...
