Unrealistic Expectation of Hospital Finance Personal
Unrealistic Expectation of Hospital Finance Personal.
In May while I was at a city council meeting my phone text buzzer went off. It was a message from my wife telling me I must leave now as she quickly broke out with a rash and some major swelling of her face, throat and limbs.
I got home and yes she was in horrible shape and in 5 minutes we were in the hospital emergency room. They took her back to a room, did all the vitals and then she laid there for 20 minutes waiting for the Doctor.
When the Doctor came in she looked her over and went to a medicine cabinet and had her take two bynadryls(something like that) and she left the room for about 20 more minutes. In the mean time the swelling started to go down and the rash subsided. The Doctor returned and spent 10 minutes writing a script and advising her on how to handle the issue for the next few days.
The next day she was fine.
So we are not currently covered by insurance and the bill for 1 hour plus 2 pills was $2500. While there the financial person came in the room and told us if we paid that night in full it would be what the insurance company would be billed of $500. I don't have the money right now can I pay $50 tonight and qualify for the discount. Yes the women said.
So last month we got the bill and it was for $2450 so I called the billing department and reminded them of the $50 I paid and the discount they said I would get for the partial payment. I reminded them we were not covered and a 1 income family so they sent me some charity paperwork that I filled out and sent in that day.
Yesterday they called demanding full payment NOW or else our credit would be damaged. I reminded them about my request for assistance and reminded them of the charity application. The agent said well we need your full payment now and if charity pays we will refund you. I said to her I don't have a spare $2450 to pay you, I can sent you $50 more dollars.
She got demanding and I asked her if she could pay up $2450 today on any bill TODAY... NO she said, I said then why do you expect me to, I am unemployed looking for work and my wife works a min wage job. And then I said why is it you will take $500 the day of the visit and that is the only time, could you pay even $500 today, she said no again. I said I guess your rep was lying right?
I said to her then then don't expect me to either. If you want to set up payments of $50 a month I can do that otherwise this conversation is over until the charity group finishes up their review. She then said if you accept a payment plan the charity offer is off.
You cant win, It is just great how some business can exploit you in a time of need

So many bouncing balls.
I know a person that works in the billing department at our hospital. They will always work with you on a payment plan. If you have insurance you do get the negotiated rate for doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies. My discounted rate is usually in 30-50% off list price. It is never in the 80% off.
This is for sure a bouncy but what current democrat talking point is the DUchebag trying to put forth?

Single payer.

You two didn't get past the headline? I always enjoy the Rsmith bouncy.
People are going to have to learn home first aid. We were in the ER in April, and though we were covered, the bills were horrific. I'm going to avoid the ER like the plague.

She went to the hospital for two bynadryls (sic)? She could have done that at home.

DUmmy rsmithnumbers has responsibilities as serious as nutcase nadin on scanner duty.
At today's DUmp, rsmithnumbers pretty well sets the standard for bouncy tales.
He is so abysmally stupid, the premises and dialogues in his tales are simply hilarious.
His permanent unemployment could be the best thing to happen to the DUmp since nadin arrived in America hiding under a load of watermelons.

In May while I was at a city council meeting..... I am unemployed looking for work...
You need to be either out looking for work or at home working on finding work. One or the other. If you are unemployed you DO NOT -- repeat -- DO NOT need to be wasting time at a city council meeting. Drop the politics and find a job, you dimwit. And don't involve yourself with politics until you do get a job.
........ gotta tell these dolts everything .................

I wonder how the driving school is coming along. He'll be a regular Cledus Snow.

In a recent bouncy, he failed his first attempt at the test. The scoring criteria were unjust, penalizing him for inability to dock the trailer and for hitting things.
He should be registering soon for his sophomore year in driving school. You and I are paying his tuition.

I think hospitals charge more for ER care to discourage people from using it like a walk-in clinic. I had a hospital bill of over a $1000 several years ago, and they worked with me to set up a payment plan. They were willing to give me more time than I actually needed to pay it off.

Wife got hold to some bad drugs, huh.....drug OD's cost real money these days.

With the right clothing, she could have sat on top.

The reason that hospitals charge so much to decent and civilized people is because of illegals and DUchebag type freeloaders.
This DUmmy would not pay a cent of this mythical bill.

Weird SHIT DOES HAPPEN. Hubby went in for a procedure the same week another co worker did.
Both had same insurance, the coworker was not charged one cent, Hubby got a bill for $1,000 .
WTF-----Hubby went to HR that handles insurance and called Cigna to find out why we had to pay and others did not. No one could tell us why we were billed for a procedure covered in our insurance.
So as Hubby is a naive sort began to send in to the hospital monthly payments waiting to be reimbursed by someone. I did not hold my breath, we still can not get anyone to talk to us. 2 years.
Never did find out why the first time the procedure was fully covered but we had to pay for the second.
Never know, I had a bone tumor removed from my leg and a implant put in, insurance paid every penny for the operation that cost $120,000 to include 2 weeks in the hospital.
When I had an OSHA reportable accident and smashed up my knee cap, the Company paid all my expenses for surgery and I received therapy and a home nurse to check on me. No charge.
Today as I have retired I am on Hubby's insurance from his work, there is a $20.00 co pay for any thing done and nothing at all if I just go in for a check up.
As I am on earned #SS I do not have the Medi whatever care, will have to get it when Hubby retires but for today I feel OK with my PC and Cigna.
Health care gets weird, always has, when I first married and was put on my husbands insurance we ran into a boondoggle. Our baby was born premature . The insurance would not cover me but it did our baby, seems that we had to prove I was not pregnant when married as this would be a pre existant condition. We had been married 9 months, a Honeymoon baby but the baby came at 4 pounds a few weeks too soon.
Health insurance is a mess today and the Obama care will only make it a nightmare.
