Has anyone here ever met a real Klansman? Or a real Nazi?
Not talking about your racist Uncle or Stepsomething...
The real deal, has a robe, or Swastika armband....
Sure all of us have met one unknowingly at some point
But has anyone here met someone we knew was a bonafide member?
It took a few posts of dancing around the elephant in the middle of the room but someone finally asked the most obvious question.

24. The Robert Byrd who held the rank of Exalted Cyclops in the KKK.
The OP said "Klansman", not "Klansman who voted against the Iraq War".

29. Does that count as 'meeting'?
If so, maybe the question becomes did anyone see the Nazis marching through Skokie, IL.

37. He Changed
I think it should be pointed that Robert Byrd supposedly changed during his life. He was a member of the KKK when he was younger, but left the KKK when he got older. So it might be more accurate to state that someone who met Senator Byrd during a particular point in his life.
(But Paula Deen can go to hell)
These guys would excuse Hitler if he showed up alive and well so long as he announced his support for gay marriage and a liveable wage. ::)

Maybe I'll just keep changing question until I get the answer I'm fishing for..."Yes and they were REPUBLICAN!!!"

38. Ohh yeah...
Living in rural Alabama in 1964.....had some real helpful while folks tell me the "rules" about not talking to the black woman who lived across the street from me. The "helpfuls" owned the rickety little store at the bottom of the hill, the kind of place that sold single cigarettes for a nickel. Owners had a daughter about my age then, 17 or so, and having nothing else to do while my then husband was at work, I would walk down and hang out with her. And watch, and listen.
The daddy was truly stereotypical....chewed tobacco, was always spitting, had a pale pot belly showing thru a too short dirty t-shirt.
Whole family was racist as hell. The daughter confided in low whispers about his being a Klan member. No reason for her to lie about something like that.
This was in the Anniston/Ft. Rucker area in East Alabama..1964 was a tense year.
Oh, I get it. Kinda like how I live in the Augusta/Charlotte area. I mean, they're so close and all. :whatever:

I'm sure if you finally get them to "see" the true facts, the next thing that will fall out of their empty head in the form of speech is "well you do know the democrats and republicans switched sides don't you"....yea I have actually heard this shite from several of them. But what is hilarious when you get a group of these like minded Einsteins together is they will argue when that happened. LOL

She DID say "east Alabama". That pretty much covers that half of the state.

NO. The other Robert Byrd, the one that visited the white house so many times with the other Bill Ayers.

"I think it should be pointed that Robert Byrd supposedly changed during his life. He was a member of the KKK when he was younger, but left the KKK when he got older."
He may have distanced himself from the KKK to avoid embarassment, but he still held to his racist views. He was quoted once as saying there were a lot of "White ni***rs" in America.

I have met exactly one person in my life that was openly Klan. He was the barber who cut my hair as a child and was a Kleagle or Wizard or Poobah or some shit that identified him a a bigwig in the Klavern. Whatever other hand full of members there were at the time played it close to the vest and kept their membership a secret. The last time I actually saw any Klan in this area was about ten years ago when three or four from out of town were in the square giving their spiel as I drove by. It looked like they had just drawn a few people who stopped by long enough out of curiosity to see what they were on about and moved on about their business.

The only openly racist organizations members I've met are a few in la raza and in the black panthers. Both are also supportive of the democrat party.
