You know what, for a shy introvert who never made friends ...
... Especially with other guys, I find it quite easy now. Start talking, find common interests, add in some humor, and I find I'm making friends and really enjoying myself.
Now women, going beyond friendship to another level. Still working on that one. What can I say? WIP.

1. Hi friend
From your motherly type pal. I wish you could find a nice woman to be involved with. However it is not always the panacea, its cracked up to be. It takes hard work and committment on both sides and even then sometimes someone ends up getting hurt.

2. Glad to hear things are improving.
As for the next step, you'll get there.
I found out years ago that women aren't very interested in the painfully shy guy. I started having a lot more luck by introducing myself and adding "How do you do?" Be witty, but not a joke-teller; never laugh at your own witticisms. Be vocal but not loud. Be open-minded and accepting; avoid negativity. Always pick up the check, or at least buy a round for the table. You'll get there...

3. The best advice I can give is probably the same stuff you've already heard, so I don't know how much help this will be.
1) If you've gotten comfortable talking to your male friends, then talk to women the same way you talk to them. You don't need to get fancy.
2) Act like you. Don't try to peacock it or to be what you think they want to see. Just be you, as much as nervousness will allow.
3) Keep your expectations on a realistic level. Not every woman is going to be interested in you, and the first one to catch your interest probably won't be The One. Expect a certain amount of misses before you get hits.
Beyond that there's no way to generalize, because every woman's going to have her different idea of what's important in a partner. You are some woman's idea of a good partner. Keep that idea in the front of your mind. Good luck.

I take comfort in the knowledge he will be sobbing in the bathroom next week.

Hell, I just hope they're of legal age.

You know, if he is doing so well with guys, perhaps he should look into fudge packing.

Ya know, the chicks really dig it when you tell them your unemployed, and spent the last 6 months in the looney bin.
And be sure to tell the girls they are safe from stalking because you're too crazy to legally get a gun in your state.
and be sure to mention you can fool around in your parents basement because your mother is deaf and she'll never hear you. Chicky babes all love that.
always pleased to be of help.

Going to the DUmp for dating advice is like going to the DUmp for the nuances of string theory.

He'd be the bottom.

Well now that can work.
Some may recall that on "Mama's Family", her son Vint lived in her basement.
He courted his future wife Naomi by sneaking her down there to peruse his TV Guide collection.
After they married, she moved into the basement with him.

All that advice, and nobody mentions 'good hygiene' - Oh wait, its DU. Nevermind.

I think both crazy Dennis and "extra virgin" Loconuts are fishin' for trim on the DU board.

I'm sure that he washes his hands every couple of months whether they need it or not...
